@Darth Watto Thanks! Unfortunately, I haven't made instructions yet. Will post here when/if they get made!

"Reverse engineering" Razor Crest MOC
Brick-Wombat replied to Midlife-crisis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@WickNole I'm happy to see more people tackling the ship at this larger scale! One can appreciate the vastly different build styles between yours, the OP's, and others. I'll admit, I'm happy to see someone utilizing the curved bricks around the engine cowling. -

Glad to see you're continuing this project! Despite being a massive untertaking, do you have any plans to build it IRL if you're happy with the digital version?
-
@jedi44 Here you go. Admittedly, it's not quite as polished as I remember, but c'est la vie.
-
@jedi44 this is an oldie! Almost forgot entirely about these builds. Yeah, I can dig around later and find some additional views.

[MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer - The Eviscerator
Brick-Wombat replied to 2mpaired's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@bricksmarlin Great progress photos! Looking forward to seeing consecutive updates. One small request though, would you mind putting these images in spoilers? Makes navigating the page and the screenshots much easier.- 169 replies

[MOC] UCS Harrower-Class Dreadnought (WIP)
Brick-Wombat replied to Ellisss_2's topic in LEGO Star Wars
YES! I was looking forward to seeing updates on this. Looking good! -
I was contemplating how to tackle a larger scale version, and I think I got very lucky with the pieces available at this scale. The combination of 41747/41748 and 41749/41750 allows for a very smooth bow section. To tackle a larger scale, I think the armor panels would inevitably be more blocky. The designer for the Munificent linked below did a good job in my opinion, but he had to create a stepped pattern to achieve the slope/taper at the scale. https://moc.bricklink.com/pages/moc/mocitem.page?idmocitem=7652 With that said, I've learned that few things are impossible with Lego. Raskolnikov demonstrated that smooth curves can be achieved even at larger scales with his MC80. Unfortunately, my skills aren't on that level! ...yet.

I'm especially thankful for things like Lego during times like these because they can add a semblance of normalcy and joy to an otherwise chaotic and stressful set of circumstances.

Finally done! Turned out better than I expected.

Agreed on the points above. I'll also say that I think it's commendable that the OP redacted his comments based on the feedback he received. That's a sign of maturity when someone who is able to take constructive criticism in stride. Thank you, @macaron35.

I'm quickly discovering the limitless power of the 85861 1x1 open stud! BobDeQuatre's intern structure of his Zenith cruiser is another great showcase of how useful that piece is. I'm thinking that this piece and the use of mixel joints can vastly improve the structural design of the Acclamator. So many projects, so little time.

Starting the weekend off the right way. I found a couple fixes which will require another BrickLink order, but at least we have progress. Too often these little creations never see the light of day. Fortunately, that's not the case for this one. The forward facing turbolasers were a fun challenge at this scale.

[MOC] Minifig Scale Clone Wars LAAT/i Republic Gunship
Brick-Wombat replied to IcarusBuilds's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@IcarusBuilds If your goal is to avoid using 30360, then I can't think of many alternatives. Why do you have an aversion to that piece? Thomas Jenkins' approach for the canons (below) is the best I've seen at this scale, and I think it would work very nicely on your build.- 26 replies

[MOC] Minifig Scale Clone Wars LAAT/i Republic Gunship
Brick-Wombat replied to IcarusBuilds's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The overall shaping and proportions of this is the best I've seen! Admittedly, the blockiness of the two canons is a little jarring considering how smooth and curvy the rest of the model is. Regardless, my jaw is on the floor. Well done!! The bar has been set very high for the upcoming Lego UCS version.- 26 replies

@PusH Perhaps eventually. There's some work I need to do on the internal structure before it becomes a real thing.

He's occasionally active on the forum. I'm sure you could PM him here or on Flickr to see if there's a way to get instructions.
-
You're in luck! @simplethinker's Millennium Falcon is EXACTLY 1:110 at 39 studs. Top view from his Flickr below, but he has an abundance of other photos too. Pretty sure he has instructions for this.

"Reverse engineering" Razor Crest MOC
Brick-Wombat replied to Midlife-crisis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Loving this! The tail proportions looks much improved, both in renders and in the actual build. Are the legs intended to be detachable for "airborne" display? Not sure if my eyes are deceiving me, but those technic struts appear to be bending ever so slightly. I imagine bending might be a problem when the full weight of the model is resting on them. Whether it becomes an issue or not, I'm sure you'll find a clever solution to address it! -
Nicely done! I can't wait for these new wedge plate to become available in LBG.

@Evergreen That's the plan! I'll post images once built. Might be a few weeks though as I need to see what's missing in inventory.
-
Thanks @Kristof! Glad you approve. Any idea when we'll get a scaled Invisible Hand? They'd pair very nicely together!
-
I was never a huge fan of this ship... but once I started modeling, I couldn't stop. It's a unique ship in terms of shape, and, at only 39 studs, it's at a very manageable scale. Same scale as @Kristof's Venator. This is one that I plan to build, and I'm confident in its rigidity, despite the skeletal structure. Admittedly, the gray 3x3x2 dome top (pn 88293) is too tall for the rear armor plating, but I didn't like the blocky aesthetic of the alternatives. A 3x3x1 dome top would be ideal, or even a wedge 3x3 variant of pn 43708, but, alas, we can't have everything in life. Renders UPDATE: Here's a shot of the build next to Kristof's Venator. More images of the Munificent build can be found in the replies.
