  1. Finally able to really comment on these after being out all day! I'm rather impressed with both sets, but neither are perfect in my opinion. I do love the Deathstroke set, if anything for just the classic orange and blue Deathstroke. He is just perfect. It's also nice to see a boot version of Batman in the smaller set. I'm not a fan however of Robin, who only reminds be of Batman Forever...and that's something we don't want to ever remember. The Bat-boat is terrible in my view. It's just a random collection of junk. Obviously Lego doesn't follow Batman's own rules to only build in black or very very dark grey--there's yellow, light bley, trans-yellow, trans-blue--just too much. I think the price is also reflected in those four unnecessary raft pieces. That's like four rowboats in one set; no wonder it's a $30 set instead of the prime $20 level. Jokerland does indeed look better than the prelims, what with some changed colors and the stickers applied; but I don't feel it's worth the $120 price at all--I mean for ten dollars more I can get the largest JW set with the cool D-Rex to boot. I think part of the reason it seems so unworthy is the fact that everything built for it can barely stand on its own; and so in the end it just looks like a bunch of tiny builds piled together. I think the Joker section is really the only good portion of the Jokerland; mostly because of the mirror stickers, but the rest just seems rather empty hearted and built. It not a surprise to see that three of the figures are repeats--but it is surprising to see that Harley has her old hat again instead of a new hair piece. Frankly, the jester hat just does not work on that figure and it looks terrible. Beast Boy and Starfire are of course amazing; and really they're the only reason I'd want the set, so I'm not sure I'll be picking this one up.
  2. I wasn't planning on buying that Mummy set, but after seeing Johnny Thunder on the wall, I have to have it!
  3. I have to say I'm disappointed in the Green Goblin minifigure. This just absolutely terrible leg printing just ruins it. Why does he have skirt printing rather than boot printing? Especially since the two mold boot printing is a new feature this wave! It makes no sense whatsoever. I honestly have no idea what is going through the designers heads when they make plainly stupid ideas like this. Why!?
  4. The Ant-Man set does look good, if a bit empty. I do love how they made the large Lego bricks; but I don't know if I like the ant so much, since he seems kinda like a mish-mash of parts. The figures however are great; and I'm super excited that we are getting Yellowjacket, considering the rumors that he would not appear in brick form. The Silver Ant-Man helmet looks spectacular too! Granted I do love the two tiny blue ants! They're fit in just right with my 20 or so brown ones.
  5. Say wha?! Those sets are amazing!!! I knew I was going to buy the HQ for the D-Rex alone, but the build is just spectacular! And the Gyro-pods are amazing! The T-Rex transport is just huge--I don't feel like we'd see that in the movie, but it looks great as a set! And even the little jeep has an amazing design. It really recalls the classic Jurassic Park jeeps but with the modern colors. The one downside is the Dilophosaurus--I think it looks cool, but it is for sure way, way too big! If they were going to make a new head variant for a raptor to use for the Dilophosaurus, why not just make a new mold of a tiny version instead? One of it's main features of emphasis in the first movie was how tiny it was--well that and the poison.
  6. March of the Ent I'm back with my round four creation for Mocpages' Middle Earth Lego Olympics. This round again focused on characters, and my assigned character was Treebeard. I made a rather wispy lanky version of Treebeard, which I think look rather cool. Build Time: 10-12 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo
  7. Thanks for the review just2good! I love this set! Even though there's a ton of stickers, I love the look they give to the building, especially on the Avengers logo. The figures are spectacular, especially Mark 1 Ultron (I wonder what it would look like to use that head on the other Ultron figures (like Prime or Ultimate; also dido with the Iron Legion heads to give a classic Ultron look). And it may be a bit crazy, but when I get the set I think I'm actually going to work towards swaping out all the light bley for tan--since I think that'll give it a much nicer Avengers 1/classic feel. Well that and perhaps a ground floor too!
  8. According to the Lego Batman: Visual Dictionary (which is starting to seriously go out of date at this point by the way), essentially all of the Robins, with the exception of Damian (who was not around when the book was made, nor was the ambiguous Juniors version), are all versions of Tim Drake--the book clearly states and comfirms this on the 2006 Robin page. All of the old versions on Robin are Drake; as are all the new ones. Now Damian is the new exception, and obviously he is not Tim Drake; but the only really ambiguous Robin figure is the one from the Juniors set. The ambiguity seems to stem from the fact that his uniform looks unique compared to all of the other "new" Robins, granted it does have a 2006 flair to it. There's no indication who he is, but judging by how much Lego uses Drake, if I had to bet I'd place it on him rather than Grayson. Either way that figure could be used for either Grayson or Drake; or even Jason Todd for that matter I guess. Lego seems to focus on Drake as the "common" Robin, while it uses Grayson for Nightwing rather than as the first Robin. FYI this question does come up from time to time; I think this is like the fourth time I've cited the book as telling us that the Robins are 9/10 Tim Drake.
  9. I absolutely cannot wait to army build this set! I for sure will be buying at least three, but I'm sure I'll pick up many more than that over it's self life. The minifigures are spectacular, and I just love the Ultron drone designs, especially how well the blue stands out from the gun-metal grey.
  10. I did! It's a rather nice figure and the lavender color is really striking. But I do have a love/hate with the lavender; it looks good sometimes, but other times it doesn't. It depends on the lighting really. The cape and face prints are great though (he has both front and back printing on the torso, and duel face prints). On a side note the film itself is hilarious, but it also shows off many characters I'd die to have--especially Giganta; it's so unlikely that Lego will make a large minifigure like that but it would be amazing. It is interesting to see how different the character designs can be in comparison to the figures we have--Hawkman, Cyborg, and Gorilla Grodd (especally) look very different than their physical counterparts. Plus some of the characters seem out of date--they show the 52 Martian Manhunter for some reason. On the flip side, it would be awesome to see some of the film characters as physical minifigures--I really hope that the classic Deathstroke shown in the film is the one we will actually get, because he is just spectacular.
  11. Sorry to bring up this old thing again...as it was started a year ago... ...but is there any news on the new Licensed banner yet? Anyone? Anyone?
  12. Waste. What is this, like the tenth set with that old pajama Spider-Man? I think the spider-slayer styled robot is nice--but it's nothing short of a travesty that we are still getting that three year old figure; who was bad to begin with.
  13. Back on 2015 set topic...our good friend Luiggi over on Flickr recently acquired some more of our upcoming figures and so we get to enjoy the spoils of their spectacular photos! Back views can be found on his photostream. For the third image, Luiggi was gracious enough to post a picture that uses Ultron Prime (2nd photo) with a drone mask from the Iron Man vs. Ultron set. Interestingly, this is the same process that seems to be used for Ultimate Ultron--granted just with a color and print swap. I for one cannot wait to get these Ultron figures! Thanks Luiggi!
  14. That teaser is absolutely hilarious. I'm so excited for the theme and this game, especially considering that the game will include all of the movies. I do wonder how the dinosaurs will work; considering its unlikely to be the shoot-em-up style is say Lego Star Wars or the Superhero games. I think the closest thing we have to base off was the level of Lego Marvel that included dinosaurs to beat up! Either way I'm sure this game will be great. And I seriously hope the pre-order figure is Hammond--it would be the perfect choice!
  15. Even though I'm only a new fan to Doctor Who, I'm incredibly excited that this is being made into a set. For me it's really all about the Tardis; since once you have one of those there's endless play and Moc opportunities. Anything else would be a bonus to me--although I'd also exterminate for some Lego Dalaks too!
  16. I don't know why we expect the prelim sets to change much when they are released. It's really only the figures that ever change from the prelim to the final, since most are just placeholders (Or in the rare case where they seriously change like Electro did). I mean I'm expecting the sets to look exactly like the preliminary photos, just with the correct figures. That being said, from what we've seen, Jokerland is not worth $120. Even at $90-100 I'd have a tough time buying it, especially considering that I really only want the figures anyways--that and the fact that the build doesn't impress or match colors with the previous funhouse (Which is not that old, so honestly I don't know why we need another one to begin with). I do think that the Deathstroke set is also overpriced--I'd rather it be due to the new boot prints but I suspect it may have to do with the oversized Batboat, which is disappointing. $20 sets are the cream of the crop for the Superhero theme, so to not see one is surprising.
  17. I don't find either of these to be amazing--neither gave me any emotion reaction upon seeing them (as the last ones had me practically jumping up and down, these were far more...boring). And in comparison to the other two perfect sets we've already seen, I find these are a bit lacking. The Headless Horseman is indeed accurate, but he's just not scary looking, and that white horse isn't helping either. Considering that we get two identical pumpkin helmets (which are the most distinctive part by for the character by far), I think I may skip that set and just make my own Headless Horseman. The dock set seems a bit flat to me--there's just a lot of, just flat, everywhere. Each level just has a splash of flat, where it seems like something should be--or at least for some of hte rocks to come up higher for a more realistic look. Neither of the two monsters seem interesting to me (especially since we already got a Lagoon monster before). However if the set came with a glow-in-the-dark Captain Cutler I'd buy it in a heartbeat (I think if we ask for it enough it'll happen, that's how this works right?)
  18. Ok...I'm buying the Deathstroke set. I don't care about the build--only that lovely classic blue Deathstroke! --- I'm not sure why there's so many rumors--or well a consistant rumor--that there will be a DC CMF series. That's just not going to happen. There are two main problems--the first and most major being that the other toy companies would basically just flip out if Lego made them. Most likely, Lego is bound by some contract, similar to that of the Star Wars license; where they are forbidden from selling individual figures of our beloved characters. Lego got into some trouble back in the day when they started selling those old CMF--like figures with stands for Star Wars. Heck I think there was also an issue with magnet characters not too long ago either. Hasbro and Mattel (or whoever makes those cheaply made action figures), don't want Lego making standalone figures--which is why the best Star Wars can get are those battle packs/chibi-fighters with a minimum requirement of parts. The issues stems from the other toy makers and not the "middle man"--basically Disney/Warner Bros.--since it’d be a safe bet that in the other company’s contracts there’s a part that says they can be the only people to make "action figures" or whatever. The other issue I see is that a DC CMF-wave/line would cannibalize (mmm...yum) the DC line as a whole. After all, I'm sure it's safe to say the vast majority of buyers are more interested in the figures than the often poor builds (Which is understandable when the Superhero line is about the heroes)--and so if all of a sudden you can get all of your favorite characters in cheap little baggies, you're not going to be buying as much of the more expensive sets. That might be enough for Lego alone to not want to make superhero CMFs.
  19. Oooo. You can see her legs--the look rather nice, although they're not the 52 Blue and Red color scheme which is a surprise. I wonder how long this group will keep being able to snatch parts from the factory though--I would think Lego would be very upset at this; I mean, they already even have the new Nick Fury's torso parts. I wonder why Lego does nothing about this. But in the meantime, we do get hints at stuff to come--so it's not all bad for us!
  20. That's really exciting news! I could easily see us getting a John Hammond minifigure (with a baby T-rex or something) as a pre-order figure! Hopefully this means we may get some more sets based on the first films down the line too.
  21. Nice to know that the large plates are printed--as it would not have been the first time they used stickers for those things. I don't know if I like that Lego is advertising that you can add power features though--if they are not included. Basically it's like "hey; didn't feel like you spent enough on your $350 ship? Why not spend even more on it!"
  22. Oooo. Nice pictures. Although I don't think they change my meh opinion on the set. It seems a bit cluttered to me--the smooth runways don't mesh with the "studs everywhere" policy this set has. The back view looks nice---although I think for $350 I half expected the turbines to spin themselves--hand cranking is for the poor!
  23. Meh, looks ok. I for sure was never going to buy this in the first place, and even if the set was amazing I still would not have bought it--it's just too far out of my budget. I do think the minifigures are nice, well Hill and Fury. I'm not super surprised that Coulson is not in the set, since I do expect him to get some sort of wide release at some point--it's going to happen people, we just have to wait. The micro-trophies are a surprise to me, and they're some what cute; although I think if I had them in hand I would be disappointed. Although I think Lego now did miss the chance to add a microfigure of the Hulk which would be in scale with the other mini-mini-figs. On the whole though, I feel it's a bit cluttered looking--and actually a bit hard to look at. I think the studs don't mesh too well with the stickered (most likely) runways. From the wide shot it almost starts to look like a blob. And all the deck elements like mini Quinjets don't help. Also--since when are the 1x1 clip plates attached to vertical tile edges a legal connection in Lego?! Wonder if it'll be mentioned in the video; whenever that comes out.
  24. He does have the Studios Vampire vibe. Unlike the other two more recent vampires who had a more "kid friendly" face. This vampire also has a similar cape design. Personally I love collecting Lego vampires, so I'm really excited for this figure. Although I doubt he'd be able to beat the Studios vampire in a fight for the vampire kingship! No one beats the original Vamp!
  25. I agree. I hope this theme gets more waves/sets, since I would love to get some of those characters in brick form. The Ghost Diver would be my favorite for sure--especially since I could see him being entirely cast in glow-in-the-dark colors; which would be amazing. I am a bit surprised that we did not get the Creeper though (Bottom left corner on the picture). He seemed like such a memorable iconic Scooby Doo monster; heck he's the only monster I actually know by name and I've not watched Scooby Doo in years.
