It makes sense, the Neo-Classic space look is cool but they can't top Benny's spaceship so trying a different type of spaceship is the smart play. I personally love that as the theme they seem to be going for it this TLM2 CS stuff is making it feel like if CS was never canceled, if CS had been going strong for 41 years this is what it'd be like, the same style but with new pieces.

I feel like that's sorta cherry picking traits to prove your point (well except Batman, you got that one spot on) you could very find ways to flip that around Emmet: Cheerful, caring, a good leader, sacrifices himself for others and realises the way to save the day isn't by fighting but by showing compassion Wildstyle: Looks down on others without her gifts, doesn't understand the artresty of a Double decker couch Unikitty: Suppresses emotions until they manifest violently (Plus Characters Like vitruvius and Benny exist) The characters in this film were well rounded, flawed, realistic people I'm sure the characters in TLM2 will be as well and I'm pretty sure no-one here or at LEGO is trying to make women "conform to the 1950's accepted norm" or portray " the male gender as either weak, simple minded or arrogant" so let's stop this arguing and do as Peppermint_M said and go back to disscussing toys.

I had a generally positive outlook on ALL the previous LEGO Movie's Marketing (The Dabbing Zane joke was ironic and not even in the movie, calm down guys) and though I like some better than others I enjoyed all of those films. However with this film the marketing has me WORRIED. From the marketing it looks like it has a lot of what I don't like in Animated films and sequels. (Possible Spoilers Below) Despite all of this I don't believe this film WILL be bad I'm just worried it might. Really most of my complaints could end up being be completely frivolous in the hands of a good writer, which Phil Lord and Chris Miller are, the the thing that worries me is how much control the director of such masterpieces as: Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo, Alvin and the chipmunks: Chipwrecked, shrek forever after and Trolls had over the project

I feel like LEGO would do things the other way round, Make a Unikitty style spinoff theme (Small waves Ect) then assuming that does well they'd have their hand at another original space them- 991 replies

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

There's gotta be a twist there or something, right? -
Exactly! Benny is the most talented, most interesting and most extraordinary CMF in the universe and he is capable of amazing things because he is the special. And So is Remix Emmet, and so is every CMF, the chaser 'fig rumour is made up, but it's also true, it's about all of them but right now it's about him.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)

If I may throw my hat into the ring, I don't think the problem is blank slate characters or the lack thereof (as shown with the continual success of City and Ninjago) but the obnoxious half and half way they handle LEGO space. With themes like Alien Conquest or Galaxy squad they gave the characters names and established personalities and made the themes focus just alien versus Human conflict as if it were to be a theme tied with media but outside of descriptions on LEGO.com theres no media to get a kid invested so they'll lean towards a theme that does and leave these sets to warm shelves. Not really, if they're interested in CS because of Benny that doesn't mean they're not interested in the theme itself. A kid today could see The LEGO Movie and really like Benny so they go to the store to get a set with him, they'd see Benny's space squad and get that, they'd obviously notice the other spaceguys and do a quick Google search when they got home and find out there was a whole theme of "Benny's" and realise they're missing the red and black ones so they'd order a set with them on Ebay and then they're hooked. Naming the astronauts doesn't make the the kid less invested it it does the opposite, Benny's just a gateway Spaceman. The continual sold out status of 70841 and the multitude of CS themed stuff we're seeing in the advertisement for TLM2 has made people believe that and though I think they're being a tad too optimistic there will at least be a couple more CS themed sets for TLM2- 991 replies

That's really not a valid measure. Those lists are just people's opinions and a LEGO movie wouldn't make those sorta lists, those lists are filled with bug nostalgic franchises and yes we have a nostalgic connection to LEGO but for most of those people it's just " I had some as a child and the films are pretty good." -

So a Denny and a Renny? Maybe they could add green for a Penny. I love this, though I do have to ask why there are headlights on the vehicle's side I love this though I have to ask why the vehicle has headlights on it's side? So I assume Red and Black (Renny and Denny? )- 991 replies
