  1. I'd love to know what you think of it after you look through it. I'm still wondering whether it's worth it.
  2. We've been calling our local TRUs, but no one has them in yet. However, TRU is having a Buy 1 Get 1 50% sale on minifigures and you can pre-order series 5 online, but no matter how many you order online, only one figure is half off. So my husband went to a local TRU and spent 45 minutes with an employee to do 30 separate orders of 2 figures each to get the BOGO deal. The great thing is that shipping was free, as is TRU's policy when you order in store to ship to home for free. I just wonder if TRU is going to be stupid enough to do 30 separate orders, or whether they'll catch that they're all going to the same person. Oh, and if there are any figures we don't want, we can go back to the store and trade them in as long as we don't open them. But this is the easiest way to get 3 full sets, which is what we did last time for series 4. Much more comfortable to sort at home than stand for a long time in a store trying to feel the figures. Then we only had to spend a few minutes in a store to get the ones we're missing.
  3. Here is my entry - a Peacock. Here's the back view. 7270 - Peacock.lxf
  4. Amazon is now selling the printed book and it's 22% off for $69. Still a little expensive, IMO. http://www.amazon.com/Unofficial-LEGO-Minifigure-Catalog/dp/1463518978/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311730371&sr=8-1
  5. Thanks! I hope you'll be able to get it. I was very surprised when I found out that MBA was only available in the U.S. Hopefully they'll have it available eventually in the rest of the world, or maybe whatever they do next.
  6. Thanks so much! Glad you like my MOC and the blogs I write. It's great to get reader feedback. I'm sorry you can't get the MBA where you live, but I'll do my best to share any online extras in my blogs as I go through the kits. I haven't had a chance to use the brick paper yet, but that's a great idea you have for using it on the iPad. Thanks for sharing it!
  7. Thanks so much! The space lab is actually just the power generator, but I like the idea of it being a space lab.
  8. Thanks! I like the multi-armed robot, too. My husband made it and he wasn't really trying. He was just playing with pieces and that was the result. I'm so jealous sometimes of his natural talent.
  9. Hi all! I finally got pictures and a video posted up on flickr of the MOC my husband and I built for our club's layout for an event we did last November. Sadly, this MOC no longer exists, but will remain forever remembered in pictures and video. We don't normally build space MOCs, but our club was going to have a large sci-fi/Star Wars section on the layout and my husband wanted to play with motors, which he had never done before. So we decided to try our hand at building a motorize space MOC. After my husband figured out how to use the motor and what he wanted to do with it, we started building the base around the motor. The moving parts are the power generator under the blue domes and the communications array that spins. While he built most of the MOC, as usual, I came up with the story behind the MOC and did the detailing and chose the minifigures. B. I. MON Planetary Research Base Two researchers have landed on an uninhabited ice planet. They want to do research on the planet to see if life once existed. As they do their scans, with the aid of their trusty robots, they get odd signals from the snow mounds around the base. Setting up a rig, they begin to melt the snow and, to their surprise, they find an alien frozen solid. Much research lays before them as they are now faced with the puzzling question of how all these aliens were frozen intact. Here's the movie: http://www.flickr.co...157627140178439 Here's a few pictures: You can see the rest of the pictures on our flickr page. Please let me know what you think.
  10. I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten the MBA Kit 2 Microbuild Designer and what they thought about it. I enjoyed it quite a bit and wrote a blog about it, if anyone is interested. It chronicles my journey through the book's 3 builds, the online material and then building my own creation. Here's what I ended up building with pieces from kit 2, though I did include the canopy from kit 1. Temple of Ogra’la In a magical world where several gods reign, there is Ogra’la, god of the sea and wealth. His temples abound on rocky shores, filled with riches for those brave, or foolish, enough to try to take it. One such pirate-ship nears the western temple, only to find the rumors of its guardian true – a vicious sea serpent blocks their path! I must say that I can't wait to try a microbuild using pieces from my collection because I know I'll do a much better job. While building this, I often felt that I was the wrong piece or, at least, not what I would have chosen as my first option. But I did it this way to challenge myself, to see if I could make what I wanted with a limited pool of pieces. And it still turned out pretty good, so I feel successful with the challenge.
  11. My husband and I had been noticing LEGO sets for a while and wanted to get some. We bought a few small Indiana Jones sets, but those didn't get us out of the Dark Ages. What did it was two Castle sets, the Drawbridge Defense and the King's Battle Chariot. We were standing in the toy aisle at K-Mart. I saw the two sets and picked them up immediately. I told my husband to tell me to put them down, but he wouldn't. He wanted them too. So we bought them and haven't stopped since!
  12. I emailed LEGO, asking if they had a list of sets yet. I didn't think they would, but I was hoping for some tidbits, especially which female superheroes would be made. They responded that they didn't have the set lists yet, but they did have confirmation of certain characters. Here's the full email:
  13. I love the minifigures and can't wait to see what other characters they do. I'm hoping for Rogue! But I'm not sure that I like those buildable action figures. They look so odd. Like they just stuck the characters heads on mecha bodies. Too much like Hero Factory for me.
  14. I'm really hoping that LEGO has a broader contract with the WB to produce movie-related sets and I'm really really hoping, like you, that they'll do a Hobbit series.
  15. is ecstatic for Superheroes! WILL BE UPSET IF THEY DON'T MAKE ROGUE!!

  16. I think they put those videos back up to inspire people for the contest: http://www.legosuperheroes.com/
  17. Batman's been a favorite of mine for a long time, but it's cool that they'll be doing other superheroes too. I just hope that there are playsets, not just minifigures... but I'll take minifigures too. Like many, I completely missed the previous Batman sets. I was aware of them in my dark ages, but didn't buy them.
  18. Gosh, I hope that's true! All of DCU would so fantastic!!!
  19. Discworld would be so mag! Which reminds me, I need to get back into that series...where did I put that next book...
  20. Yep, that's for the download, not the printed version. But $20 bucks for a download is a lot, too. In my opinion anyway. But I'm more likely to buy the download if I really want this than to buy the print version. Either way, I'm waiting a while to buy to see if they do any updates.
  21. I got my first one from bricklink, but they are marked up and I have to pay shipping. I'd much rather pat $3.99 plus tax for as many as I want. But it is what it is and I'm just happy to have a couple... for now.
  22. That's what I'm hoping for. I really want fantasy creatures and I don't see why LEGO isn't making any. I mean, they have plenty of excuses with Harry Potter to do fantastical creatures, but they didn't/haven't yet. So it'd be great if they made some for a different theme. As long as they're not too oversized for normal minifigure scale.
  23. Fat Tony “Where's the rest of the crew?” - 1 Yatkuu “Encounter at the blacksmith workshop” - 2 Sebeus Iniwum “Hello Beastie” - 1 Matn Tia Dalma's Shack - 1 Toltomeja Giant Jack Sparrow - 1 hammelgeier Attack of the Kraken - 1
  24. I feel a bit more optimistic with the new information, but still holding my opinion until I see the minifigures. Honestly, I wonder if LEGO tests market their products with LEGO fans at all? It would seem a good idea, to me, to see if girls like playing with the minifigures in the doll-like settings or whether LEGO is somehow correct that girls only like playing with overs-sized dolls. Maybe it has to do with how mannish little girls' hands are.
  25. Bricks4Fun’s “My Dinner with Jacqueline” - 2 Blackpyre’s “Jack Sparrow can't escape the Classics” - 3 Deckard’s “Mom what happened to my LEGOs?” - 1 Operrier’s “Rescue on the Imperial Flagship” - 1
