That's excellent news!! Not an official confirmation yet, but we're one step closer...
-
It makes perfect sense to me. The next wave will focus on The Hobbit (which leaves Eowyn out), leaving Tauriel and Galadriel as possible female characters. So they go with the warrior Elf who will probably be more popular among the younger crowd.

I've suggested in rumor threads previously that TMNT sets would make perfect sense, seeing as LEGO already has a good working relationship going with Viacom for the Spongebob sets (not to mention the previous Avatar sets). TMNT is right up there on my personal most-wanted list for LEGO themes.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Is it the same head that comes with the other new troopers? -
Absolutely fantastic!! I just spent about 10 minutes poring over all the details....and there are a lot of them!

Wow, thanks for sharing! Those designs look great for the Fell Beast and the Oliphant. And Ewoyn looks fantastic! Hopefully we can expect to see each of them produced someday.

A view of the ruins at Osgiliath

Very nice! It works equally well as a location alone or with minifigures included. I particularly like the toppled pillar. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

No, I definitely agree with you. I think everyone expected AotC 3D to hit theaters early this coming year, not in September. So it's probably a safe bet that we'll see Episode II sets in next summer's wave. -
True, but Deathly Hallows pt. 2 only got a minimal number of sets in the first place. And 'The Avengers' isn't a theme unto itself; it's part of the larger Superheroes (specifically, Marvel) theme, which does have an exclusive set. I would actually love to see a LotR set released as an exclusive along with The Hobbit wave. Especially if the earliest we can expect the next LotR sets is next summer. Would be nice to have something to tide us over until then.

No, the Rancor Pit will actually be a regular release set. The retailer catalog doesn't show exclusives. -

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

Celebration VI is happening right now, August 23-26, in Orlando. We may or may not be getting sneak peeks at future sets; we'll see in about an hour when the LEGO panel gets underway. -
Oh, my mistake. I should have considered the context more carefully.

That's what pulls me away from this set as well. The exterior looks good, but the interior is just....bleh....

I'm completely gutted not to be going to this Celebration. The only other (U.S.) Celebration I missed was Celebration II. -
Better pics? There's a whole gallery of Bag End pictures...I'm not sure what more you could ask for.
-
I completely agree with you about the Tatooine sets! Tatooine is my favorite Star Wars planet, so I'd love to see more tans and browns added to the LEGO SW palette.
-
Cool pics, thanks for sharing! It looks to me like they come from a calendar. Interesting to see the look for Radagast; my first thought was "Pirates of the Caribbean!"
-
They can't do anything with the Silmarillion right now. The Tolkien estate still owns the film rights, and Christopher Tolkien isn't a fan of P.J.'s movies.
-
Even if we can get one wave's worth of LotR sets each year, that would be great. I foresee the line continuing for about a year after The Hobbit films are finished, with mixed waves of LotR and Hobbit sets.

Star Wars Celebration VI Next Week
The_Chosen_1 replied to Michael Huffman's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I am devastated to not be going to Celebration this year. GFLUG had a fantastic display at Celebration V; I spent quite a bit of time in that area of the exhibit hall. I'm hoping that someone will take some good pictures/video of the area for those of us who can't make it. (On a side note, if anyone would be willing to help me out with any LEGO exclusives please let me know.) -
Aw, man....I was looking forward to seeing some closure between the two characters. That said, I'm still hoping to see a scene between Steve Rogers and an older Peggy Carter. It was a scene that was originally scripted for The Avengers, but landed on the cutting room floor: Cap/Carter deleted scene It is cool that the new female lead will be a descendant. Maybe a granddaughter?

That makes no sense at all. It's pretty simple for LEGO to look up who uploaded a photo before the deadline. Besides, the link to upload a photo for the contest was taken down after the deadline, so I'm not sure what basis your friend has for saying that. Besides, it will take more than 5 days to judge the winners. Do that math: 400+ pages of models, with 25 per page= roughly 10,000 models to consider.

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
The_Chosen_1 replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review! It's interesting that LEGO appears to be far less aversive to violence in their themes than they once were. I was surprised to see the "spike pit" booby trap, and especially the hanging skeleton in the dungeon, from an original theme. IIRC, violent themes were present mainly in licensed themes only until now.
