  1. As much as I hate thread bumping, I do feel that he has a point. In recent years it looks like Technic has lost some of its functional and aesthetic aspect. Personally, my favorite year was 2016 with the Claas, the BWE, the Volvo, the Helicopter, and other fantastic models. Since then, especially in smaller sets, it seems like the quality and overall look of builds has decreased. For example the 42106 Stunt Show Truck and Bike, which can only be described as ugly and offers 3 functions for 600-odd parts. The 42108 mobile crane had a disproportionate cab and meager body. In addition, the functionally interesting sets are often near the top of the price range for that year, such as the Bugatti and the Land Rover. Even the 42108 didn't have proper outriggers, despite being in the same parts range as the 8053 mobile crane (which also offered a nice B-model). The lack of B-model functionality has turned me away from the newer Technic offerings, and despite a few gems in recent years like the 42078 or 42110, I feel the over all quality has gone down somewhat. Sorry for pushing this old thread, but let me know what you think!
  2. On the topic of posting in the Buy and Sell forum, I think you need 100 posts to start a topic there.
  3. Wow, that is seriously impressive without any beams. Looking forward to seeing it as it develops
  4. @suffocation perhaps that works, but they still want suspension without the use of the turntable in the middle
  5. To me the dumping bed looks too wide for its length, I feel that could have been stretched more and the cab shrunk
  6. 42054 CLAAS also had some design changes after the prelim pics were released (cabin, crane, and hood)
  7. Imagine how crazy it would be if they released a cut-away set like that...
  8. Looking at piece count, I would expect something on the scale of 8053. Perhaps 1 xl actuator total for boom elevation. Worm gears for outriggers, 1 stage extendable boom? Basically 42097 with a wheelbase and steering.
  9. I'd like to see the mobile crane in some color other than yellow again... white would look very nice.
  10. Looks cool! Is it also compatible with the 42098 carrier?
  11. Looks like its steered from the knob on the roof and the steering wheel is functional. Already beats out the 42056 and 42083 for me... Also a winch and those heavenly seats!!
  12. Wow this is amazing!! The techniques are complex, but look seamless in the finished product. I look forward to seeing many of your future MOCs!
  13. Looking at the door handle, there is the potential for it to have a "locking" mechanism- the axle hole towards the rear of the car is not attached to anything. I would look forward to something even like where you need to turn the handle before opening the door.
  14. You could try looking at the 42080 for inspiration...
  15. Forgive me if this has been mentioned already, but are those new red wire clips? Very handy.
  16. I get the idea with this crawler, I'm just wondering if they could have made the front end a little prettier, like in the 9398...
  17. Speaking of which, how is HOG done? I don't see beacons and there is no gear to be seen (unless it is buried on the roof in the rack).
  18. The front of the truck almost bears a resemblance to an IVECO. Uwe has redeemed the 42070....
  19. That is a lovely B model !!!!!! Also the blue car in the A model is way better looking than the Corvette...
  20. I'm really liking the look of this... very clever turntable solution- best of luck, I hope you win!!
  21. Yes, so far the circle seems to be okay, if I can just hook it up together... See below: The original idea was a four wheeled handler, but then the boom got too large. So I decided to pop four extra wheels on and call it a concept model . I may consider your idea, though. Thank you!
  22. It has been quite a while since I posted a MOC on Eurobricks so here goes nothing! My current project is a C-model of the 42078 Mack Anthem. I am trying to make a telescopic handler with: Telescopic two-stage boom 4-wheel drive 4-wheel steering Detailed exterior This is my progress so far (it looks very iffy at the moment, and I may scrap the chassis at some point but for now we will see): Top view of the chassis (as you can see, four wheels are driven, four steered although the steering is not hooked up yet) Sideways image showing steering angle Bottom view of chassis showing structural supports Boom with axle connectors for chassis. (The middle U-joint is for support). Side view of boom This is a very ambitious project for my skill level, as my only prior experience with MOCs are nonfunctional ones. Hopefully this one turns out . * Also there is no reference that I could find on Google for a telehandler with 8 wheels, so this is not necessarily based off a specific model. * Thanks for stopping by, Magical Duck
  23. Very ingenious work with the rover! I look forward to seeing the model progress.
  24. That is really smart!! Very nice looking MOC as well, just one question- where are the front lights?
