  1. I think the model as a whole is just a bit too much stretched tall for me. But I am still quite impressed at how accurate the shaping is, especially around the bonnet area
  2. Unfortunately the chassis is not very symmetric, so the only way to incorporate RHD would be to rebuild the thing from scratch and mirror the instructions..
  3. +1. The Bugatti was terrible for this, and its suspension suffered. It just seems like there could be a more elegant solution.
  4. Definitely agreed! And I appreciate that the spinning fan when you open the hood is in the same spot as the sticker fan on the outside of the hood
  5. There is a changeover catch hidden behind the center beam - one of its clutch gears directs to the LA setup, but I do not know where the other one goes (probably drive). And is it just me, or should those three tan gears towards the front not be able to turn at all?
  6. Also this has the silly Mack engine... as much as I wish for new piston parts I must say I prefer the old ones to this half-bush set up.
  7. Does anyone know why they didn't just use an LBG curved panel in between the two wedge ones on top of the fuselage?
  8. I expect so, as the model is easily as heavy as the 42110 Defender (which had gear skips), with an equally if not more complex gearbox and without a central differential to balance the speeds from each axle.
  9. Wow, that is quite complex! How sturdy is it (there are a lot of small connections)?
  10. Thank you @Mirc! Unfortunately, I gave the set away shortly after making this model to clear some shelf space and I never got around to making instructions. I'll see if I can still piece it together on mecabricks from the pictures.
  11. Actually I've found that my LEGO gears tend to run with less resistance after they've been put through their paces a few times...
  12. I think that the 42110 gearbox was originally correct, because it seems to operate intuitively (turn right to increase gear and left to decrease, shift forwards to high gear and backwards to low gear) it's just that they changed the stickers for non gearheads who thought that lower gears should mean lower engine speeds.
  13. In my mind, PF will always be superior, it just feels so unlike LEGO to operate it from your smartphone.
  14. This would be an instant buy for me if the cab and dumping bed proportions weren't so awkward. But maybe they look better in person...
  15. On the back you can see a sticker, it looks like LEGO is marketing this as a rescue vehicle...
  16. Pretty sure it's just the same lime green in the CLAAS
  17. Love it! Reminds me of some of the early technic sets in the 80s.
  18. Having just built this set, there are a few things I noticed: The steering is extremely jerky and resistant, even though there is play between all of the gears. After some fiddling, it turns out the gears were not the problem but rather the roof was pushing the axle out of alignment. As far as I can see there is no way to fix this, so I may rebuild it. Even after ensuring that gears rotate smoothly and there is play between all of the gears, there is a high rolling resistance in the lowest 1 or 2 gears. I have rebuilt the chassis already, and it is still quite resistant so I may just leave it for a while (I have noticed that newer LEGO gears have more friction than used ones). The suspension in the front is extremely soft, to the point that it has very little travel and can barely hold up the front of the model. I have double checked the instructions and all connections are correct, so I suppose that is just what it is. Perhaps 2 red springs would have been better in the front. Has anyone else noticed these problems (especially the steering and suspension issues)?
  19. Any idea why the headrests (and I presume the rest of the interior, then) is the same color as the bodywork? Even in the original Sian it is a bright orange
  20. 42110 Land Rover! Can't wait til it ships today, going to build tomorrow.
  21. Am I the only one who thinks the black grille on the LEGO set is too thick compared to the real thing?
  22. Would be even cooler if it came with two 2,200 pcs vehicles (i.e. mining truck and excavator). We haven't had a multi-set like that since 42023, I think. But I know that's not going to happen anytime soon...
  23. I'm glad they at least put hubcaps on this model, unlike the 2014 Volvo Loader whose wheels looked so empty...
  24. Licensed sets also tend to be more realistic and detailed than non-licensed sets, which is definitely a win.
