Thanks guys! Nah, ancient saints get modern aspects tacked on their jurisdiction. Like Isidore, the patron Saint of computers. Ancient gods are just the same. Hephaestus would be the god of gunpowder. Chap's all about fire and craftworks. Plus it would be kinda ironic if he came to dominate warfare, since Venus was his wife before Ares came along... As far as computer viruses are concerned, my money's on Hermes. Lad was all about writing, cunning and thievery.

I picture this being the nave of the chapel at the convent. Probably the only space that would be double-height like this. Very appropriate for an order of hunters to use this space to practice their archery. I think I was subconsciously inspired by the interior of Malmesbury Abbey, which is close to where I live: It has both the flat undecorated wall (because the main tower collapsed) and the balcony. The wall behind the archers is inspired by altarpieces and triptychs.

The Gran Military Encyclopedia of Oleon
Ross Fisher replied to Keymonus's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Unit name: The Sisters of Our Lady of Artemis (Sisters of Artemis, "Nunter-Killers") Type: Light Infantry / Commando Uniform description: Green nun's habit with a white wimple Equipment description: Compound bow, arrows, daggers Recruitment centre: Fatu Hiva, other similar convents can be found on the mainland. Unit history: The Convent of the Sisters of Our Lady of Artemis on Fatu Hiva was established by Padre François in 618, in response to the crisis suffered by the island in that year. The founding cohort of sisters was raised from similar convents on the mainland. They then set about recruiting and training additional converts to the religion from the surrounding islands. In 621 Fatu Hiva was invaded by Corrington and the Sisters, who were as yet unprepared to resist militarily, were overwhelmed by WTC marines. They ran a partisan guerilla campaign, but were unable to overturn the WTC military occupation. When it was lifted, the Sisters vowed to reorganise into a true military unit, and ensure they could better resist any future attack. They now operate as a specialised light infantry commando; effectively eliminating high-value targets in silence, and with no tell-tale gunpowder smoke. Thanks to their guerilla experience, they are also fully capable of living off the land, operating behind enemy lines, and otherwise working independently from military command structures. Campaigns: The invasion of Fatu Hiva (as partisans) The Lotii War Motto: Ad venatio Note: These troops are not the same as the Huntress troops. Those are an elite version of this unit, typically operating individually. -
"How is the child progressing?" asked the Bishop, steel in his gaze. The Mother Superior hesitated. "Her education goes well. The skills of Lady Artemis are laid out before her, and she is the mistress of many of them already. Her tracking, hunting, trapping, and butchering, are all advancing nicely. Not to mention her reading and writ-" "And yet?" he cut in. "Your grace?" "Don't dance around me, sister." he snapped. "I am a supplicant of the Shadow Court. Do not imagine that I will allow you to conceal truths from me." "I would never dream-" "I asked how she is progressing. You focus only on her education. Why?" She caved. He was an Inquisitor. At some point he would have the truth, and so it might as well be sooner rather than later. "The crisis, and then the invasion. They both left their mark on her. She suffers from night terrors, her discipline is lax, and she neglects her prayers." "I see." "Forgive me, your grace, but I do not honestly believe that she will progress to the ranks of the clergy. At least not with what tutelage we are able to provide." The Bishop was silent. "I am desolate, of course. You laid responsibility for her in my hands, and I have fallen short. I have given her as much tutoring as I can, but the recovery effort here has demanded much of my time." "You've done enough." He said. This came as a surprise to her. "Then you are not angry? Forgive me, your grace, but I understood that you desired her to attain rank within the Order?" "My concern first and foremost was for her wellbeing, which you have not only attended to, but ensured that she can look after herself should the need arise. This is commendable. The pathway the Three Brothers have laid out for her is beyond my comprehension, but you have ensured she will have the skills she needs to walk it." "Is she to leave Fatu Hiva with you?" she asked. "Yes. But she shan't leave you behind. Not quite yet." "You want us all to travel with you?" the Mother Superior bridled. She had been preparing herself for a personal punishment, but not one for the whole Convent. "Your skills are needed. Oleon is at war, and heathens assail our people. What have the followers of Artemis been preparing for if not this?" "How long do we have?" "You set sail for El Oleonda in one month," he smiled. The seeds he had planted were beginning to bear fruit.

A great little build. Reminds me of Shackleton's trek from the Endeavour.

Just a heads up, you may want to discuss this with Eurobricks HQ before you go ahead with setting up a side-along Discord channel. It was a similar action that led to the break-up of the Factions game. -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Ross Fisher replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Can anyone give me some advice on how to build small boats? I'm looking to build something similar to a Faering: I'm not too worried about hull thickness, as I'm using it for a Viking funeral (I can just fill it up with timber, etc.). However, I might make the boat "in the round", so I want the hull to be viewable from below if possible. IDK, does anyone have any smart ideas to get me started? I don't usually brick-build my boats. This is probably the closest I've been so far: But this looks more like a lake boat to me. Doesn't have the curvature at the gunwales that I might want... -
Lovely build. Real sense of place, there and I love the flag. Can you do a breakdown for us?

Ugh, it's such a wide brick at the top. Shame, coz otherwise its a beautiful profile.

The Return of The... (Chapter 9)

Great fun. I really love the build. Bribery and corruption were very on-trend. I reckon we need to see some rotten boroughs, too. -
Lovely build. Some nice parts usage here.

I've been writing a 6-part Sleepy Hollow-inspired story. It'll be set in old world Eslandola, but the vibe is very much colonial America. I've got the story down, but I'm wondering whether anyone is interested in contributing builds? 16x16 studs. Nothing too drastic. I'm gonna try for realistic muted colours, and real flesh tones. This sort of vibe: I'd probably want to publish the 6th part of the story on Halloween, everything else before then. Let me know if you're interested. -

@Justsomebrix @Kai NRG Thanks. I considered some... creative horse posing to illustrate the fact that it's a stud farm. But this is a family-friendly hobby, so I decided to keep it tasteful. -

As the mayor in charge of Nola Mar's defenses, Chapter Master Helmut Von Braun now has the task of turning a naval and pedestrian army into one capable of moving overland at speed. In order to manage this, he has ordered a number of horses from the mainland. However, to avoid putting himself at the mercy of the merchants, he has also invested in a stud farm for Terraversa. The Knights Treasurer will ride again!

I've got a tree like that in my garden. Daft thing, it is. Needs a splint just to stand up straight. Can confirm, this is 100% accurate.
