  1. I added some accessory buildings to my collection this weekend.. 7823 Container loading crane - I already had an extra car for it so now it looks super shiny 7835 Manual level crossing 7839 Car loading platform All three are 99% complete, missing some minor parts most of which I was able to fill in for with my own LEGO, the rest will again come off of bricklink for ~5 bucks. Man I can't wait til I get time/room to build a nice layout. The catch? They were only €100 for the three, shipping included - Sok.
  2. I'm not a real physics hero, but assuming he needs the higher speed/power to pull heavy trains, I think it does hold :) - Sok.
  3. Double the voltage = double the current, four times the power, which means it will be overheating very quickly. - Sok.
  4. Shipping would cost 8 bucks or require me to take it apart which I won't, so I think you're better off buying on from bricklink. Alternatively, 8462 is a great set with two airtank and some other pneumatics in it and it can be had for about 50 bucks around here, so that might be a good choice too. - Sok.
  5. I personally dislike 8049, the tractor + log loader. It's really small and flimsy and the pneumatic arm looks as if it was designed by a kid. You only get a *single* log to play with, and the grabber itself does not have a cylinder so you always need to reach for it to pick up something. - Sok.
  6. It's all opinions, like I mentioned on the first page. - Sok.
  7. I'll check when I'm home tomorrow. - Sok.
  8. Yeah I always wondered why ebay doesn't have an option like that. Even just one more minute after the most recent bid would make it much more attractive for sellers. Although it will be more difficult getting cheap deals as buyer - Sok.
  9. I just stumbled across this: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Lego-6399-Monorail-Airport-Rar-Zug-Train-Extra-Tracks-/320728194655?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item4aace3de5f I'm sure some people here will be interested :) - Sok.
  10. As long as it has re-build value (like the old hospital 6380) I'm fine with it. Not too many single-piece walls and huge windows please, TLG! - Sok.
  11. I got the majority of my studless parts from two 8421 cranes, they each have like 2,000 pieces, but re hard to find at a good price. Any of of the larger Technic sets will do to be honest, but be sure to get the 8043 excavator if you're also looking for PF parts. - Sok.
  12. They won't fit in a mailbox though I think (is diameter more than 3.8cm?) - Sok.
  13. I have two (from 8421 cranes) but haven't gotten around to building anything with them yet. Their problem is that they draw ridiculous power and thus will empty your batteries very quick (source). When I have more time in the future I'll probably build something with them, powering them from my Control Center II. - Sok.
  14. Netherlands, shipping would probably be terribly expensive.
  15. With PF you can add a gearbox. Trains are heavy and once running should be able to switch to a higher gear to get more speed. - Sok.
  16. I don't know anything about the internal mechanics, someone should do pressure measurements to figure out whether its a balloon or just an empty cylinder :) Where do you live? Shipping is an important factor. - Sok.
  17. AFAIK they are the same except for the colour, and they are rare, there have only been a few sets with them in it. I might be able to sell you one a bit cheaper than BL. - Sok.
  18. If there were a benchmark that all those involved agreed on that studded and studless could be tested to, and it conclusively proved that either was superior over the other under the circumstances dictated by that benchmark, then you could say something like that as 'fact'. Until then, it's your opinion, and you should present it like that. Imagine an outsider searching for something LEGO related and stumbling upon your post. He could well be left with a very wrong impression based on a single sentence that you posted without regard for accuracy. - Sok. Apparently it wasn't that obvious, now was it?
  19. That's your opinion and I would appreciate it if you presented it that way. I like studs better, it has more of a 'LEGO' look, and less of the big shiny plastic toy feel. - Sok.
  20. I really wish they would add some variation to the 'one motor, gearbox for several functions' theme. How about more pneumatics and PF controlled switches, or even a PF controlled gearbox? - Sok.
  21. Nice review, but I don't really like the set. The engine feels too long, would've looked better to me 2 or 4 studs shorter, and the cars all have this 'big brick plasticky feel'. The single piece conveyor belt is also a sad example of everything that LEGO should not be. - Sok.
  22. Old thread, but a nice review for a great set. I got one a few weeks ago for a really good price and it's comlete and working dandy :) They'd need to release PF 'S' motors or PF servo's first :) - Sok.
