You are a busy man! I like the custom hair you made for many figs. Also, turning the wampa into a hulk is a very good idea, I like it when customizers sort of lose all respect for the integrety of a product and just saw off what stands in the way of their idea. Also I like the predators a lot. Great painting and I love the way you integrate the brickwarrior armour. Painting skulls on the round armour areas was a great idea. I have some of these armours here and still don't know what to do with it. I am not sure about the predators' legs though. Yours make one almost forget that it's a regular leg with a 1x1 brick under it, but just almost. I am currently working on some taller as usual figs myself and I have not found a good way for this yet. There are alway woody's legs, but there has to be a better way.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

Ah I see, thank you, I thought there was an additional difference between still produced 'brown' and obsolete 'old brown'. Great, then the choice of legs is much easier. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

Thanks for the new pictures, every new angle makes them look even better. Is the valkyrie reddish brown or brown? I would say normal brown, but then the shield looks darker than that. Could someone verify that? I am looking for some fitting legs. I hope to hear of sightings in Germany soon. -
Peculiar that in these sets, they have 2 riders (ringwraith and rohan) with capes on horses and gandalf sitting on the carriage with the cape. I have never managed to get a fig with cape on a horse withour wrinkling the cape and everything looking awkward. Also, Gandalf cape seems crammed, too.

I have this problem with my elven army. Only 1 of 60 is female. It sort of depends on the standard you set. in Most cases, would not suffice for me to have a female head and hair, I think a female fig needs to have female shapes. Heads I would not customize, for there are lots of female heads available. It is true, there are not many fighting, not princess-like women in historic themes. There is a nice female torso in tan colour though. Also Angelica from the Queen Anne's Revenge has a very nice and boobed torso, but this is very expensive. The CMF Series 7 is a game changer in that respect. The valkyrie introduces a female torso which is neutral enough for knight, elves, pirates ets. The helmet has female hair, but is kind of limited to viking aesthetics, I hope i can cut if off and use it with other helmets, too. All that for a cheap price. Also, the LOTR elven hair will make great female elves, so this problem will cease to exist for me soon.

Maybe if you use this part: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=42446 Cut off the part with the stud on it, glue it to the shield and then stick either the part you mentioned or the original broken handle in with glue. You will maybe have enough surface to glue with the shield and the stud gives support for the handle. I have not tried this though. For the round shield it might be an idea to buy a smaller round shield, e.g. the one from the chaos dwarf and glue yours on it...

REVIEW: 8831 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7
Wardancer replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is great, thanks for the review. So the black knight has a plain black torso underneath. Wellwell, I love him anyway. Still weird though, in comparison to the space marine, who has a detailled torso under his armour. It is good to get a historical brown female torso, this will make good female elves. I also like the bride better than the one before, I shall get one and put it on top of my wedding cake. I would like a black knight as groom defending her against a hungarian horntail dragon, but my soon to be wife forbids it. She says it ruins the cake or something. It's hard to find comething to criticise, but being a good German I found something. The bagpipe does not look like lego anymore, it's realistic shape makes it look like something else. Edit: I also like that the print on the aztec's shield is a bird from above!! -
Very interesting!! I can't wait to get loads of them for 2,49 a fig. I wonder what torso is underneath. Plain black? Also, in this picture it strikes me what an utterly amazing helmet the Aztec has. Edit: Now that I think of it, I notice that the boar print seems quite unusual for LEGO. It's very detailled, yes, we already had that, but its also not stylized, simplified or iconified, but sort of realistic, evil and primeval. I don't find better words, but can you see what I mean?

It was the same with me. The water effect gives it such a dynamic that I really got startled a bit when the snake came up!! Most impressive!!

Loki might work well as a gray elf, with the leg printing and torso. A different head and hair, maybe green arms...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7 poll
Wardancer replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In terms of army building usability, the black knight wins of course for a historical themes lover. But I voted for the aztec, because he has very interesting, army building parts such as spear and shield, the very creative helmet AND he alltogether is a fig from a very exotic culture, which I appreciate a lot. Second place is the valkyrie for me. Fighting women are very rare, also she is well done with the hair. Series 7 is the best series in my eyes doe to these three figs and many other very creative figs. Maybe, after 6 series they have to resort increasingly to exotic themes becaus the normal ones were already done. -
Just got a hungarian horntail for 10 Eu. I am very happy about it, I've been wanting one for ages. Also I got 2 cheap trollships, sold ships and crews seperately and kept the dragons, which I thereby got for free.

TUTORIAL: Remove print from decorated elements
Wardancer replied to Hinckley's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Has anyone tried this on a bigger piece, such as a horse barding? -
I thought there was supposed to come a set with the bear that is smaller than the police station. How come this is not at the fair? I hoped this would make bears cheaper.

New BrickWarriors Products - Feb 2012

That explains a lot, I was not aware of that. -
I think haldir looks better in the real image, with shiny gold print.

New BrickWarriors Products - Feb 2012
Wardancer replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
BW does really develop its own style. I'd call it "Conan the Barbarian"-style. I like a few things: - the antlers look good, I would like to see if it is possible to make a stag with it and a horse, also it will make a good wood elf king - finally, wings that can be attached to a helmet - the blade helmet looks beautifully delicate, except the blades - also I like that the muscle armour has no spikes on the shoulders, the shoulder pads are very nice - different horns are always welcome -
How come there is no thread about the feb2012 news? I especially like the antlers and the boot wings.

In his book "Generation Golf", famous German editor Florian Illies describes the 80s as a sort of paradigm shift. LEGO he associates with a "do it yourself"-afterwar-generation (with the VW bus we all know as a symbol for a car which can be repaired by yourself and in which you make self-planned holidays). Playmobil, he says, stands for a new consumerism and a focus on finished, highly elaborated stylish products (in cars, this was the VW Golf, which was supposed to look shiny ). LEGO in the 80 was much less elaborated than today, that's why Playmobil had a chance then. VERY iconic in the 80s was the Playmobil pirate ship. It could swim in a a bath tub. Everyone had it. LEGO you could buy on flea markets very cheap per kilogram, because it was mainly bricks. With all the good devleopments LEGO has undergone till today, I cannot see a reason to prefer Playmobil anymore.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, PAB is great for small pieces, but difficult for big pieces. A cup would be full very soon. Bricklink has bricks for 1cent a brick, but as soon as you look for 200 bricks, prices come near S@H. I dind't know it was possible to ask TLG directly, maybe i'll try that. I have seen some "5kg white bricks" offers on ebay, maybe this could be a way. I'll try to make my friend change the scale first. 1x1 meter is pretty big, even if its just the blueprint...
-
Ohh, interesting! What did you change? Are there any pictures available?
-
Well, I am not a 100% on this myself. A few modifications I would make: Lots of big trees around it, a few tan ornaments here and there, make some areas a tad taller and less bulky. The chapel I would most likely leave as it is. An alternative would be Helms Deep, but this is too gray and bulky for what I imagine as an elven home.

Great thread!! I have been looking for a home for my elves for a while and came to the conclusion, that the last edition of 4842 Hogwarts is obviously a really nice castle for many factions. So I hope to buy a set soon and sell all the figs and pottery stuff. 9516 Jabbas Palace (upcoming) If you throw out all the Star Wars figs it is a very interestingly shaped building with a tower! Tan !!

Do you guys think PAB is the cheapest and fastest way to buy a lot of normal white bricks? A friend of mine wants to build a 1x1 meter modell of the real house he is building and asked me for help.
