  1. Ahh, I’ll see about getting the lego one done up in Daylight tonight. I think I’ll be able to do it actually, just a few parts changes on the forward part of the boiler to make it totally possible
  2. For the roof supports, but now having looked in Studio, its come to my attention that there are no 1 wide panels. I was suggesting to use a 1 wide panel with the thinner side facing outwards, but that will no look good with a 2 wide panel
  3. You mean the Blender model or the Lego one? Because.... (Please note that this rendering was done before I actually finalized the texture before initial release to Immersive Railroading, I can assure you that the Daylight logo had its position corrected) It may be possible to do the Lego one in orange and red, but not entirely sure due to the construction of the boiler if I could get the front curve of the red striping
  4. I would suggest panels and return to the original count of six supports. The bricks are entirely too thick, however, it is looking good, keep it up!
  5. Not quite. As this is a prototype for a fictional railroad, the class is able to differ. However, the Texas Midwestern already has a Class AC-13, as well as a class AC-14 and AC-15. In addition to the fact that this is far bigger than the AC-9 in just total wheelbase and arrangement.
  6. After encouragement by @zephyr1934, I've also decided to share some pictures for my possible entry into the Brick Train Awards. This has been one of my longest running projects, with initial designing of this engine in its original form dating back ten years. Originally meant to be wearing the Southern Pacific crest on its(currently non-existent) tender, I have since replaced it with the Texas Midwestern Railroad, which is my fictional version of the Southern Pacific(plus a few other lines). This current model is based on the Blender model I made to bring the design from flamboyant fever dream into something plausible, even if a bit impractical. The Blender model took me 8 months to create in its entirety, and it is actually available to view and drive in Minecraft as a part of the SPSF add-on resource pack for the Immersive Railroading mod. As for the Lego version, so far its taken me about two-three weeks to get this far, working on it when I have time between college classes and work. It is designed primarily for display purposes, but that doesn't mean I didn't fully expect to leave it like that. Custom parts include roller bearing wheelsets, #13(XXL) Drivers(will be putting BoxPok under her), #7(M) sized wheels, all the valve gear, connecting rods, and main rods. Under its boiler jacketing, sits four PF XL motors, two PF battery boxes, and space for an sBrick controller. Also built in to the smokebox is a little space for a smoke generator if I decide to go for it and install one. Might not have enough space there so here's hoping on that front. Also planned is lights for the classification lamps and the headlight/mars light combo up front. I won't be able to flesh her out in real bricks for the contest, but I do intend to eventually get her built. Features a decently detailed cab interior(also thinking of running lights for lighting this up as well as the firebox and underskirt lighting) also based on the Blender model. The engine's basis in real life is decently obvious. I've long been a fan of Lima Locomotive Works and the Southern Pacific GS-4/GS-5 classes. So I took the general aesthetics of the Golden States and meshed them together with the rugged reliability of the Union Pacific 4000 class(Thanks to the UP Steam Team for documenting 4014's restoration so well. Got much of my references for general internals and external piping from their videos and pictures.) to come up with this 84" drivered monster. More pictures of the Blender model can be found on my Flickr page. (Found here:https://flic.kr/ps/3VBCta) To finish off this post, a comparison shot between the old Lego model(3rd generation of this design)(rear) and the new one(5th Generation)(Front) As much as I really want to use the new Knuckles from BMR on the front of the engine, I've found that its not possible to do so with how I've attached the current magnet. Or at least not possible with the Studio files. I can definitely say they will be appearing on the rear of the tender however. EDIT 2/11/2021: Finished the Engine, added picture of tender rear and the full completed engine to post.
  7. Very Impressive, Some steep competition in the BTAs this year in Steam. I've been thinking about entering my own Articulated myself, but I can tell that it won't even touch your level of awesomeness. Good luck this year!
  8. Just one more question, how do fictional designs factor in? I'm planning on doing a steamer based on a custom design I did and was wondering if the fact that the engine didn't exist irl hampered my chances of entering.
  9. Wait, aren't XXLs restricted to higher radius curves? I thought I read somewhere that the XXLs were not able to take R40s due to their size.
  10. I personally think that the numbering of the diameters based on the plate diameter is probably one of the better options. The stud diameter is also promising I think, but it could get complicated with the various x.x designations instead of saying "Oh yes, this model uses #5 drivers" or whatever.
  11. Does this include digital models for any of the categories?
  12. *whistles* Mighty fine work there. Can’t wait to see these in real brick.
  13. I look forward to seeing the real life testing I know some people will do of these and howw they compare to those Knuckle couplers. Kinda on the fence between the two now for my first physical build
  14. Very nice. How reliable has this proven in testing?
  15. First thing I'd check is if the gears are meshing correctly. I once had a model that while moving would work itself loose and the gears would just keep skipping teeth until it just didn't mesh at all because it knocked itself that far out of alignment.
  16. *Whistles* Nice work there! Have you thought about adding in a tapered boiler and larger driving wheels? Still, it looks phenomenal, can't wait to see what else you build!
  17. Ahh, that makes sense. I was considering maybe attempting the S1 myself and going with a solid frame so I could attempt to emulate the duplex characteristics of the loco, would you recommend that with the XXLs or would it be less trouble getting it to work as an articulated frame?
  18. Fantastic work! I kinda want one now. Is 5544 still articulated or did you move on to a solid frame when you did the XXL rebuild?
  19. That's neat! I wonder how much weight it can handle before it fails?
  20. Looks freaking amazing! Any idea on how long these kits will be available? Wanting to grab me one but won't have the money to do so for awhile.
  21. Reasoning behind that could be that it could've been originally a GWR loco, just got a new BR standard tender because the GWR one was inadequate for the loco's job. That being said, this is a fantastic engine! I might actually have to look into another British engine to add to my digital stable after seeing that.
  22. Hmmm, Turbine you say? We talking Steam or Gas turbine?
  23. That looks freaking fantastic! Any idea on if this loco will be able to use those knuckle couplers announced by BMR? Also, any idea on the price at this point?
  24. Now this is fantastic! How many motors power this quarter scale layout?
  25. That is real nice, especially given its size. Can it negotiate standard turns and switches?
