10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
leafan replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great article, which provides some very close up shots. The Queen's shield is clearly a sticker, but let's hope that doesn't make it to production. At least one of the female knights is wearing lipstick for some reason. Lovely colour, but that helmet is gonna mess it up! And lastly, I guess we know where to guards go to 'relieve' themselves: Right on the Forestmen's sneaky entrance.- 2,976 replies

I used this A.I. to generate art based on the simple text "Lego Knight eating a Banana" and got this: Welcome to the future. The scary, scary future.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
leafan replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
So, we've got this castle coming, we've already had the updated Forestmen set, we've got the new Build-a-Minifigure Black Falcon prints and a CMF "Knight of the Yellow Castle" coming, which ties in with one of the shields in this set, and yes, the original yellow castle. So what, just another 10 or so years before a new wave? ;)- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
leafan replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My wallet is going to cry, but I have to have this one. I was a little annoyed at the Forestmen set being a gift with purchase, but I'm hoping that the rumour of it being available in August for the castle release are true so that I can line it up. The throwback shields are just fantastic, I'm pleased that we'll at last get updated 'crusaders' and it just overall looks like what I wanted. Any criticism on my part would be nitpicking.- 2,976 replies

I also know first hand as I've seen the kids in my life gravitate directly to the minifigs in sets, not just in Castle, but across the board. I don't think it's just kids either. At a certain point, you have enough Lego - but the minifigs are mostly unique and remain collectible.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion
leafan replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If I'm right, then the leaker of those previous pics used to be a member here, and if that is the case; then the person I knew would not charge for leaks. I did reach out to try and get a glimpse of the whole leaflet, but I've had no response. -
Jesus h christ. Nitpicking at it's finest. If you don't believe that the minifigures are key selling points, I don't know what to tell you. Tell that to the people selling rare Castle minifigs at stupid prices on Bricklink or any other platform right now. Rare minifigs are in demand; and I'm not getting into a essay war with you again.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
leafan replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It *is* an image of the Snow Warrior, yes. Not a very good image, but an image non-the-less. The poster of the image is also very reliable and has posted pictures of the CMF 22 building instructions too, which showed the new robot amongst others. -

Lego is far too expensive for what it is, and the business costs that contribute to that high price are not my problem. The CMF series should be £2 each, not £3.49. Lego doesn't understand how to market Castle/historical products, or they're indulging in underhanded selling practices. There is a huge market for this type of product but they constantly fail to accentuate the key selling points - the minifigures. 3 minifigs in the upcoming 3-in-1 Viking Ship. ...3! That's either not understanding the selling point, or purposely reducing the minifigs to create artificial scarcity. Same with the recent 3-in-1 Pirate Ship and Castle. I know these are the 3-in-1 Creator line, but why is that an excuse? Before you think about cost, read my first comment in this post again. Why will the ship have a sea serpent instead of more minifigs? To create a throw-back to the old Viking Ship that nobody asked for? Why do all of these types of sets have crappy side builds yet lack minifigures? If it's because of the alternate builds, then reduce them in size or drop them altogether; it never mattered for the old Castle sets that had alternate builds shown on the box yet still had a plethora of minifigures. Why not sell battle packs of historical armies? People want to collect them but TLG makes it so hard and expensive. You would think a Danish company would have a greater understanding of the importance of historical sets. Those Vikings got everywhere.

Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Apparently not for Playmobil though. I don't care where its sold - I just want Lego to make it again. Until they do, my money goes to Playmobil. -
Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
All of this is missing the point. I said that Lego could licence a magazine and have exclusive historical minifigs on it. Just because they aren't doing that exact thing right now does not mean that it can't, or should not, happen. As MAB pointed out, it's happening on the collectible books. My point in suggesting it in the first place was just a singular idea on how Lego could offer historical themed products today, like Playmobil are doing - and seem to be thriving doing. -

Either kids or kids/adults. Right off the top of my head - a tie in with Horrible Histories. Some of the magazines have exclusive minifigures. I'm pretty sure that the old Nexo Knights one had some. Doesn't cost much to make a new print. -
Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah I already know about that as I'm in the UK, and it's not exactly what I had in mind. A magazine tied into true history with an associated minifigure. It doesn't - whilst Playmobil does a bit of Western, it's not common like the other Historical eras are. LOTR and GoT are franchises, and can go out of date too; but comparing that to how Western is now irrelevant to most is a bit disingenuous. One hasn't been popular for 35-40 years, the other is very recent in comparison. At the end of the day, if anyone is mainly into Lego for the historical themes; it wouldn't hurt to expand your horizons a little and buy a Playmobil set. Waiting for TLG to release more is not going to be fruitful. -

leafan replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
What sales records are you taking that information from? I hear that said a lot but nobody seems to have any hard proof of it. That wouldn't surprise me, but it was based on a film is was factually, a massive flop. Also, Western, outside of America, isn't that popular (even though I personally like it). Those days of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne being household names are long gone. Back to the OP; Lego could approach this in so many ways, from licensing a magazine series on world history (with a free minifig included on every issue), to releasing a full theme of educational historical sets; but they choose not to. For a long time I held off buying Playmobil, but the options are just too good, and it's pretty cheap by Lego standards. My boy doesn't care if it's Lego or Playmobil, so why not. -

And every series has 2-3 (or more) historical figures. They also separate the collectible figures into boys and girls, so there's a boys series 20 and a girls series 20. That's 2-3 historical figures in BOTH lines. It's great. -
Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The answer is that nobody truly knows. You can go on about sales figures you don't have, or theorise about inherent violent or lack of interest; but it's all just guessing. One thing I can say for a fact is that I have spent more on Playmobil historical toys this year than I have Lego in general, so they've lost that money. I held out for ages, but when you see a competitor to Lego, offering all the things that you wished Lego would produce but don't, then it's hard to pass up. That's not true at all. Playmobil is far cheaper. Would that be £7.99 if it was Lego? There's also more plastic with Playmobil. More for less. -
I still think the old Bullring was better ;)

Does anybody have an idea when we can expect the first official/unofficial images of the Creator 3-in-1 Castle? It should be soon right?

I'm not sure but you can find most of them here: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=BAM#T=P Which was very useful to get the "Hexer" minigure parts for the Halloween selection:
