  1. I don’t have any unopened sets, it just seems a waste not to build them! I try not to accumulate too much Lego and often buy a new set, build it & keep it for a couple of months, then sell it. I’ve found that you can usually get 90% of the initial cost (and sometimes a lot more if you’re lucky), so any losses are tolerable because to me most of the fun is from the building. However, I can see why some people buy Lego as an investment as there’s clearly a booming market for discontinued sets and it does seem a safer bet than the stock market at the moment! Does anyone have access to the total volumes of older sets sold by Lego (such as 4501 & 10123?). I assume that the current sales are far higher now than 10 years ago, so I can’t see that most newer sets will ever create the ‘return’ that some of the older sets have (apart from UCS), simply because of the laws of supply & demand.
  2. I’ve debated getting this a couple of times; it’s good value for money & has lots of minifigures but it leaves me somehow underwhelmed which is strange for a large SW set! I’d much prefer to get the Death Star II The UCS shuttle is impressive when built & I don't regret buying one. The only downsides to me are i) the lack of a boarding ramp ii) the difficulty of dis-assembling it & iii) the fact that it's light cream rather than white!
  3. Hi Matthew, no problem at all, I'll wait until I hear from you
  4. Hi, I've managed to get hold of 5 brand new 30055 Vulture Droid polybags; these were given away with the Sun newspaper. I'm looking to trade these for other new polybags (preferably SW). In particular, I need a sealed 30005 (Imperial Speeder Bike), and would be happy to trade two Vultures for one! Also, I really need 4 x Light Gray Brick, Round Corner 16 x 16 (Part 33230) used in Cloud City 10123, so if anyone has one, or more, spare at a sensible price please PM me!
  5. Thank you CopMike, you've made my day! PM Sent with my details. I did a double-take when I saw my username listed this morning!! Good luck to everyone else who entered; there are some great designs.
  6. Excellent work M<0><0<DSWIM! In my opinion, this is one of your best MOCs that I’ve seen. Instantly recognizable & a very clever build. Keep up the great work!
  7. Amazon currently have 8038 - Battle of Endor for £64.99: link here You might need to be quick as there's only 7 left!
  8. I’m leaning towards ‘old school’ on this, but perhaps that reflects my age (mid-thirties). When I was a child I had loads of Red, Yellow, White & Blue spacemen which all had yellow heads and I simply adored them! To me Lego is almost getting too accurate; they are toys after all, and if you want a really detailed model why not buy a 100% accurate replica instead? I can live with the new flesh tones, but the ‘dirt’ on the new Stormtroopers is too much for me!
  9. Thanks, I was hoping that it would be 30055 That's next Saturday morning sorted for me - 8.30 at Smiths for a newspaper or two!
  10. Interesting; do you know what set number it is? Cheers, Robin
  11. Another great creation ACPin! Are you going to build the entire of Jabba’s palace for the Community Build? It looks like this & your previous scene would fit together rather nicely, possibly with a nice Throne room for good measure!
  12. My project to build Cloud City (10123) from scratch is progressing well. I've just ordered 300 parts from Lego 'Pick a Brick' & Ebay; if my maths is any good I now have 608 (excluding the minifigures!) so it’s around 87% complete. Total spend is about £85, for the 450 parts that I’ve ordered so far, all have been new. I’m still trying to source 4 of the ‘Light Gray Brick, Round Corner 16 x 16’ base plates link at a reasonable price so if anyone has one or two spare please PM me! I’m also part-way through my Episode VI CB, I’ll be able to finish it once my order arrives!
  13. Hi Legolandia, Lego are doing a 'Brick' Friday weekend between the 25th - 28th November. I received a postcard from them a couple of days ago and it looks like you should get i)free postage ii)10% off the set (as you'll spend over £100!) iii) VIP Points (I assume!) and iv) a Limited Edition Holiday set (3300002).
  14. Excellent work, as usual, ACPin! I love the lighting especially which is beautifully done My only suggestion would be to move the LED fractionally further forward to illuminate Han a little more, although I’m being very picky!! Congratulations on your promotion to ‘Fellow’, totally deserved.
  15. Great work lego envy! I especially like the last photo of the door opening; perhaps you could do another with it a little higher up (and showing a little of the darkened interior!)
  16. I received a postcard yesterday for this promotion (Nov 25th -28th) details as follows: 'Check out these incredible "Brick" Friday Weekend offers! 1. FREE delivery on all orders over £25! 2. FREE Limited Edition LEGO Holiday Set with all orders over £50! 3. Spend £100 and get 10% off your entire purchase! Plus, visit the LEGO Stpre early on November 25th for further "Brick" Friday savings!' Sounds pretty good to me
  17. My entry: 'I just heard someone say that it might be a white Christmas this year; I'm sooo excited!!' Or What the pipes in Echo base are actually used for
  18. Please count me in, it was great fun last time!
  19. 10178 UCS AT-AT, via Mrs Lobot, for Christmas about 5 years ago I spent several happy hours building it on the kitchen table that day, as my brother & dad watched in quiet bemusement! I was amazed to see it lumbering across the floor, and have been addicted ever since.
  20. I kept mine on display for a week and then returned it to the safety of it’s box. My main reason for this is that I have a rabid fear of what light could do to white plastic! It’s probably completely irrational, but I used to collect vintage SW and lived in fear of what sunlight could do after seeing some truly shocking examples!
  21. Please can I have a Red Rebel Alliance one, they look great! I'm already planning my entry for the Episode VI CB....
  22. Excellent MOC, well done! Very nice details, especially the doorway and the mouse IG88 is great too, clever use of the pistols for his shoulders. Is that Indy’s head that you used for Dengar? With that headpiece he’d look great in the ‘Well of Souls’ scene from Raiders of the lost Ark!
  23. Thanks for the excellent review KielDaMan! This pretty much confirms my initial thoughts when I first saw the set. Compared to the 4504, which I owned until I purchased the UCS version, the turrets look a lot nicer but the base looks awful! Actually, in all fairness, the legs kept falling off my 4504, so I guess the modifications were designed to correct this issue. The interior is a definite improvement, and I especially like the hidden compartments. I’m quietly hoping for this for Christmas, via Mrs Lobot!
  24. Another +1 for kyphur Great trade, fast delivery, really nice guy
  25. Nicely done, the first photo is great A Classic scene from the best SW film; it’s good to see there are other Episode V fanatics in Eurobricks! Cheers, Robin
