  1. There wasn’t many Jedi left towards the end of Episode VI, if my memory serves, so I doubt if there was still an order (or a need for one!!) But I digress.... Anyway, after seeing the most recent photos etc it could be a cheap(ish) year for me after all. I quite like Jabba’s Palace (or at least what I have seen of it) although £100+ for a 700-800 part set does seem rather pricey. I think that I’ll wait & see what the UCS R2 & B Wing look like before making a final decision...I really hope that these are going to be worthy of a UCS status
  2. I've just made a small 'Pick a brick' order from the UK Lego website & included another set of Technic LEDS (8870) I'll be able to finish my Episode I CB when it arrives. They're currently offering free delivery on orders over £25, and also a free Limited Edition Lego City Poster (link here)
  3. The UK Lego website is offering free delivery on orders over £25, and you'll also receive a free Limited Edition Lego City Poster (link here)
  4. Hi Oky, please can you add me to the list. I've already decided what I'm going to build, I just need to buy some more tan bricks! This is my least favourite of the six films, but I really enjoyed being involved with the last two CBs so it should be fun
  5. Marshal banana has already done it: (link here)
  6. This set was available for a long while and I feel, in hindsight, at quite a reasonable cost. I’ve said previously that I wouldn’t mind at all if Lego decided to re-issue it (and I say this as an owner of one), but I don’t imagine that it would now be sold for less that £450. However, at that price-point it will still, understandably, be too expensive for many fans so it wouldn’t be a magic solution that some have suggested. At the end of the day it’s currently subject to the laws of supply & demand and there will be those fortunate enough to own it, and those that don’t. I’d love to buy several more of the UCS sets (10030 & 10143 to name just two) but I don’t have endless financial reserves and I accept that I have to prioritise what I can spend my money on.
  7. Great review Raytracer, and welcome to Eurobricks! I'm actually starting to quite like this set, despite the obvious faults (the flat bottom being the most frequently mentioned). I don't mind that too much, but it's the numerous coloured bricks which are still visible after the model is finished that annoy me the most. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against bright colours in my SW sets, but they should have all been hidden by the outer shell (like they did with the UCS Falcon). Is it too expensive? Yes. Do I regret buying it? No. Will this be highly sought after when it's discontinued? Probably
  8. It looks like Jabba's Palace & the Cloud Car will be on my shopping list this year, although I hope the former won't be too pricey. it's great that Lobot has been confirmed; perhaps he's a prelude to a new Cloud City!
  9. Your modifications to the mandibles are a definite improvement on the original, nicely done However, to me the worst part of the official set is the Technic beams that are used underneath; they simply look horrible! And yes, I do appreciate that they really improve the stability of the set, and provide decent fixing points for the legs, but it wrecks the lines of it. If I ever gain enough talent I’d like to replace mine with something a lot less bulky. Have you though about adding a set of LEDs to the rear ‘engine’? I did this to my old 4504 & it looked really cute
  10. Yes, it's strange how the prices on Amazon fluctuate often fluctuate from hour to hour I've found some cracking deals sometimes, it's just a question of being lucky (e.g. 8092 Luke's Landspeeder for £13 a couple of weeks ago!). I've just checked the X-wing again and it's down to £42.85 (14% reduction), which isn't a bad price.
  11. Vey nice creations Christoper My favourite is the Redemption, although I’m probably a little biased as it’s in one of the classic images from ESB. On that note, could you fit a single round stud underneath it somehow to represent the Falcon, or would it not be to scale? Anyway, keep up the good work
  12. Amazon UK have the new Star Wars X-Wing (9493) for £40.90 (18% off) at the moment: (link here) As usual, you might need to be quick!
  13. Great idea mortesv, it’s really interesting to see the different sets scaled against each other. You have a very impressive collection of UCS sets, which I hope to match one day! I really want the Death Star II.... Re: the Falcon modding, the only obvious difference I can see is the two Grey levers on top of the cockpit; in the box photo they’re both forwards but in your version one is pointing backwards!! Have you changed the cockpit ‘window frame’ slightly, it’s difficult to see from your photo but it does look slightly different? (and the one area that I’d be tempted to try and improve, as it doesn't seem to fit well together).
  14. Hi, this link will take you to the replacement part of Lego Customer Service (link here). Enter your age, then the set number (7191 if my memory serves!) and it will list all of the parts that are available for it. If it's not listed there's an option to email them & they might be able to find one for you, or supply it in a different colour. You'll receive a reply in about 24 hours which will confirm if they have the part(s) in stock & the cost. Lego's Customer Service is second-to-none I hope that this helps. Cheers, Robin
  15. Thanks for sharing these photos Brickmamba, some excellent displays & models. My favourite is the Hoth battle which is really well done ; it’s good to see the UCS 10178 AT-AT’s used in it, rather than the newer 8129. I know that the 10178 isn’t that popular but, in my opinion, it’s far better! The new one seems to have been built to a price, and could do with some more parts to make it look more ‘finished’. Sorry for going slightly off-topic.
  16. Amazon have got 7956 'Ewok Attack' for £15.99, that's 38% off (link here) As usual, you might need to be quick!
  17. Have you tried using a vacuum cleaner? I used my Dyson and the soft 'upholstry' brush attachment on my UCS AT-AT, which had been on display for a couple of years, and it worked really well. I was very careful & went over it keeping the brush a couple a few mm above it. In a worst case scenario you might need to recover a few parts from the cylinder, so it's best to try this when it's empty!
  18. I think that the Executor would be a good choice if you’re looking for a longterm investment, although as I said before nothing is certain! Most really sought after (and high value) sets seem to be large, OT, UCS, and have limited availability or include rare minifigures. This set is expensive, and I don’t expect that it will ever sell in the quantities of the current Death Star, for example, so it could be quite popular in 5 years.... I might grab another one if it ever goes on sale, as it’s probably a more sensible investment than the stock market at the moment!
  19. 100% dedicated to increasing the bank balance of a well-known film director! In all seriousness, there's so much Lego available I've decided to restrict myself to SW, otherwise it would get far too expensive (and overwhelm my hobby room). I did purchase one Technic set last year, but sold it so that I could re-invest the money in other SW sets.
  20. I enjoy building my Lego sets far too much to not open them, so it’s not normally an issue for me! That said, a few times I’ve purchased small SW sets and sold the minifigures and/or unwanted parts and kept the rest for my spares box. It’s been really fun and has been a good way of adding to my collection without spending too much. I don’t have a problem with anyone trading Lego; most sets are available for a decent time-span so there should be enough available for everyone who wants them at the 'retail' stage. It’s similar to the stock market, you invest in the hope that your money will grow but there’s a distinct possibility that it could go down as well! Same with Lego; there aren’t any guarantees...the market may drop at some point, so if anyone wants to invest in Lego UCS ‘futures’ it’s up to them.
  21. My minifigures (prize C) arrived safely today, and they were all fine. Thanks again CopMike, it really made my Christmas!
  22. Another great creation M<0><0<DSWIM, you have a unique building style! I never thought that I would say this about anything Darth Maul-related, but he’s beyond cute!! I trawled through Episode I today (to get some inspiration for the forthcoming CB), and his character really deserved more screen time than he was given. Are you going to do an Emperor/Darth Sidious at some point in the same style? I’d love to see them together; after all you always have two...a master and an apprentice!
  23. Great stuff lego envy! The cell bay is especially well done and the LEDs really add to the scene (It's good to see that I'm not the only one who likes using them!!). If you want to create a slightly more ‘diffuse’ effect for other MOCs, try using a trans-clear ‘Slide Shoe Round 2 x 2’(link here)
  24. Did you select the 'Missing a part from a new purchase' option rather than the 'Lost a part' by any chance?! If you're trying to order 100+ 'misssing' parts from a set it's likely to have triggered something in their system (and quite rightly so, as parts ordered in this way are routinely sent without any charge!). Perhaps it might be sensible to call Lego & explain what you are trying to do? I've only needed to use the 'Missing a part' option very occasionally and only ever for a single part; the last time was for my Executor which was missing a 2 x 4 tile. Lego's quality standards are normally very impresive (my own UCS Falcon wasn't missing a single part!!)
  25. Thanks everyone for the kind comments, really appreciated. I also forgot yesterday to thank the-bricking-builder, Jamie75 & JackJonespaw for their suggestions regarding the landing pad design; I'll brave it at some point this year! I can't bear to break up any of my own sets for this, so I'm using parts ordered from 'Pick a Brick' etc. Most of my collection is hidden away in their boxes, as I'm a bit OCD about such things! My current SW sets are as follows: 10179, 10221, 10212, 10178, 7965, 8097, 8129 (ordered!), 8097, 7749, 8083, 8084, 7113, 7110, 8092, 7929 & 7119
