Yes, I admit it, I’m just a little bit obsessed by all things Cloud City A couple of months ago I started to ‘bricklink’ Lego’s own 10123, but after collecting about 90% of the parts (and spending approx £75, with about the same needed again to complete it) I realised that the final result wouldn’t match my expectations. So, I’ve decided to try & build my own version. This is very much a ‘work in progress’ and I need to order a lot more parts before I can finish this section, but I thought you might like to see a few photos. This is what I originally had planned for my ESB CB, but I didn’t have enough spare parts to attempt it. I’ll probably tweak the design a bit, so any suggestions would be appreciated! I’m hoping to build the different sections (gantry, carbonite chamber, dining room, corridor & the landing pad) although I’m putting the pad off until last as the construction of a decent circle in Lego has got me a bit stressed! Speed of the build will depend on finances & my ability to sneak more orders past Mrs Lobot but I’m hoping to finish most of it by the end of this year. C & C welcome. 1st version of Carbonite chamber (modular style): Front entrance: Daylight detail: Edit: updated photos

I've just spoken to Lego & they confirmed that the AT-AT (8129) has been discontinued. It's showing as 'Call to check product availability' (link here) but they have a 'handful' left, so I ordered one.....so much for me not buying any more Lego this year! I'd be quick if you want one; the Ebay prices are already starting to climb which is an ominous sign

I guess that Lego have to fix the exchange rate at some point, and this does vary a lot. The Y-wing is actually available in the UK via the Lego website for £49.99 (link here), so it's not too bad! Lego also tend to stick to the original selling price throughout the release period of most sets, which I think they deserve credit for.

It’s interesting to finally see the UK prices for the new sets, but I don’t understand Lego’s prices at all! Both the X-wing (£49.99, 560 pieces) & Jedi Interceptor (£34.99, 300 parts, 5 or 6 minifigures depending if you include the droid) seem really good value, but the TIE Fighter (£49.99, 413 parts) is totally illogical! I don’t normally buy anything other than OT, but I might make an exception for the Jedi Interceptor....

Excellent work wokajablocka! The lighting is well done, and you’ve added a lot of really nice detail including the grey throne ‘heads’. I especially like your Salacious crumb, very cute!

Sir von Lego said that the new R2 would be 2127 pieces: I could be totally wrong, but I think that this will be a great set. If it has 2000+ pieces it's going to be a decent size (even if a lot are small), and the price actually seems quite reasonable (considering it's SW!! ).

Amazon UK currently has Luke's Landspeeder - 8092 for £13.00 (50% off!!) - (link here) Total bargain, but you might need to be quick!

Community Build: SW Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi
Lobot replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Death Star Duel (2nd entry) added (link here) Cheers, Robin -
Thanks for the comments, really appreciated! I'm still trying to work out how to use my new Canon EOS in low light, so I had to use my old compact. Unfortunately it refuses to focus with any less light that I've used! However, I've added a couple of new photos which show the overall layout. Cheers, Robin Yes, I use the official Lego Technic LEDs - £5.49 each from S@H: link here

This is my second entry for the Episode VI Community Build. I'm surprised that this scene hasn't been attempted by anyone for the CB, so I felt that I should give it a bash! As usual, I've been limited by my supply of surplus bricks & lack of talent. I built this using a couple of screenshots & have tried to create a moderately accurate copy. Unfortunately, there's lots of difficult angles & large viewports, which made it rather difficult. Illuminated via 4 sets of Technic LEDs (I need to get some more), dimensions 38 x 24 studs. Anyway, I hope that you like it, C & C welcome Darth & Luke duel whilst the Emperor looks on (chuckling quietly to himself): Side view: From above: Edit: Extra photos added

The cape should be inside a little white cardboard box about 4 x 4 cm; it's only a couple of mm thick so you could have missed it. If it's not there, I'm sure that Lego Customer Services would be happy to send a replacement.

There are a couple of decent SW deals on the main Lego website: 10198 Tantive IV - £86.09: link here 10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter - £56.99: link here

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Lobot replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's Lego Digital Designer, you can download it free from the main Lego website: (link here) but it's 140mb! You should be able to open Doc's files with this after you've download them. Cheers, Robin -
My local Tescos are currently selling 7959 (Geonosian Starfighter) at £14.97, which is over 50% off! I think it's a nationwide offer as it's also listed on the Tesco direct website (link) but it's sold out at the moment.

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Lobot replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Excellent work Doc! You must have notched up a lot of hours with LDD to create these, I wouldn't have the patience! My favourites are as follows: i) Imperial Shuttle ii) Slave 1 iii) Millennium Falcon And a big thankyou for including the LDD files, I'm definitely going to build the Shuttle at some point Cheers, Robin -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Lobot replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is probably a bit of a stupid question, but has anyone managed to make a circular based platform with Lego?! If so, any suggestions would be really appreciated. I want to build a display for my new 7965 Falcon & have always loved the Cloud City scene. The only problem is that it's very round!! I've started working on the entrance as below. Cheers, Robin -
My 7965 Millennium Falcon has just arrived I won it on Ebay for a, relatively, bargain cost of £92 new including postage. I'm really looking forward to building it on Christmas day, and it should be a bit easier to display than my UCS one!

The new Lobot looks great and I really like your logic! My life will finally be complete if we get a new Cloud City, but perhaps that’s wishful thinking. The highlight for me so far is Jabba’s palace, I’m assuming that the final version will be greatly improved, but the figure selection looks promising.

Amazon (UK) are currently selling 7962 - Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracers at a 42% discount (£47.25!) link here I'm not usually interested in anything other than OT sets, but I've liked this one since I first saw it, and at this price I couldn't resist!

I'm currently building one myself, and am up to about 87% of the parts. Total cost so far is approximately £75 for the 450 parts that I've purchased (I already had 150 in my spares). I was determined to buy everything new, but I don’t seem to be able to source some of the rarer parts without paying a fortune. It’s been quite fun, but it's starting to get a bit frustrating! Light Gray Support 2 x 2 x 8 with grooves, smooth on all sides, top peg: available on Ebay: link here Brick, Round Corner 16 x 16: I’m currently looking for 4 of these myself. Have you though about buying them in ‘Light Violet’ (a lot cheaper if you can live with the colour!) link here I hope that this helps. Cheers, Robin

They're both still available in the UK, via the official Lego website: 8038 & 8097 Both great sets, especially if you can get them at a discount!!

Community Build: SW Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi
Lobot replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've posted my entry (Endor landing platform encounter): click here Cheers, Robin -
This is my entry for the Episode VI CB (or the second in my series of classic SW corridor scenes! ) I built this using a few screenshots from the film. It's a bit shorter than I initially planned but I ran out of 2 x 2 grey tiles! I tried to make it moderately accurate, but I've added a series of grills to the floor to make it look more interesting; it was a bit plain without them. Dimensions: 34 long x 12 studs wide, illuminated with 4 sets of Technic LEDs. Sorry for the photo quality, but my camera really struggled to focus on it. C & C welcome, thanks to ACPin for organising this What do you think of the new hand, dad? View from above (without roof): View from the side: Angled (without roof):

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Lobot replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great work so far Brickdoctor! The Slave 1 is definitely my favourite so far, but it’s from the best SW film so it had an immediate advantage over the others! Thanks for the file; I might have a bash at building this during the holidays
