  1. Very nice! I like how the builds don’t need the stickers, although they add a lot.
  2. I agree with Feuer Zug that the hair is phenomenally well done. So too is the body, especially the legs/boots are wonderfully shaped. The sword and cape look great as well, although the boat stud wasn't necessary imo and it's a bit sad the fishing rod doesn't exist in LBG. The face looks a bit platey(well duhh) but I don't mind that as much as the way you portrayed the scar and the cosmo gun. I have no solution for the scar with the face as is aside from STAMP(sticker across multiple parts) which, I agree, is an awful solution. Maybe just don't represent it (although that's like a Harry Potter without a lightning bolt on his forehead)? The Cosmo Dragoon could've definitely improved by finding similar solutions in DBG/Pearl Dark Gray or even Flat Silver. Have you considered a flat silver screwdriver for the barrel and removing the cone? Still not perfect but looks a lot sleeker imo Even though, very impressive in this scale and instantly recognizable. Also like the Leiji Matsumoto fig btw Scrolled through your Flickr page as I was already there: some nice stuff also! Are you ever planning to render some of these projects in real bricks?
  3. Funny how one small addition (or reduction) can make all the difference in aesthetics. I can get lost in tiny details as well. Particularly find it annoying when I've fiddled around with an object/aspect for minutes/hours only to find that the first solution was the best all along. And yet, next build I'll start the same process all over again So happy I got a bit better in using Studio, saves me a lot of time in large/intricate builds.
  4. Nice review and I agree with you and previous posts. I don’t even own the previous set and I don’t feel like purchasing this, not even for the parts which, admittedly, are quite welcome. I would like to pick up the Tau We fig, though a more neutral torso/more Kaminoans would’ve been welcome if I were to MOC their facility one day. [rant]I really hate stickers, and that cockpit could’ve been angled way better even while using the same canopy piece(which is completely wrong). But that tail is probably what bugs me the most. They had two plates thickness of space and just threw an assembly of parts on top of a couple of modified 4x4 plates[/rant] I’ve a lot more to rant but let’s call it a day by thanking you for showing me what not to purchase if it can’t be helped
  5. At first this had me giggle, then upon closer inspection awe crept in. I’ve always liked how people sneak in huge bulky parts and make them ‘vanish’ in an intricate build and this is no exception!
  6. Wait, how did I miss this? It’s gorgeous Haven’t had time to check the process yet but is it somewhat posable? Even if not this is still a MasterPiece (no pun intended) Also like how the pattern in the base looks somewhat like it contains white hearts from this angle.
  7. Decided to pop in to this section of the forum for once and this caught my eye. I have no special feelings for Bionicle, except maybe for the abundance of parts and colours it brought forth, but this is a well designed MOC Exetrius! You’ll have to forgive me for not knowing their names, but I particularly like certain aspects of each Toa. For example the pelvis and thighs of the blue and the mouth of the red. The weapons are neat too! The red’s are my favourite but I’m kind of a sword guy so that’s not surprising. I like the gold and the blue’s weapons as well.
  8. Indeed this is a neat one! Usually I’m not much of a fan of altered/painted (butchered!) parts but you have a steady hand with that brush of yours. Did you do the gold line on the arched window as well?
  9. Thanks @Feuer Zug, along with the set I took some inspiration from our own local station so it couldn’t be helped I guess
  10. Thanks @noahtheb& @Vliebricker ! I can never get tired of building natural surroundings, I literally had to stop myself and add figures before there was no place for them anymore.
  11. Glad to see this thread back on-topic. We have to bear in mind that global issues and the need to keep pushing new products affect TLG’s moving space when it comes to distributing much wanted items. Also the fact they’re running a couple years ahead of us consumers doesn’t help. I think if given the chance they’d print a couple billion more BAM figs along with the recent figs from the big castle. Unlike aforementioned space squad (which honestly surprised me a little) I feel they’d run out in a couple days if they were a wide release, especially when keeping an eye on the online PAB. Concerning the BAM knights I think the biggest problem here could be the company’s conflicting rules with stores’ targets. Here in the Netherlands they kept a strict limit with a little leeway but I heard from several managers blocking customers from buying more than reasonable numbers to keep stock. Some customers even went as far as to dress up for the part and return multiple times with family member’s VIP passes before they were eventually found out. But I have also read about several cases (abroad) where they didn’t even blink when someone came to the registers with a bag full of knights/wizards/whatever. Sure you can’t guess the reasoning and maybe they’ll even give them away for free when they’re done with them( highly doubt it) but a line has to be drawn these days. TLDR it is what it is, I hope they wise up and give us a couple themes that’re at least actually close to Castle and Pirates unlike Nexo Knights and an oceanic Ninjago wave. Easy money in pocket if you’d ask me.
  12. Love it, especially the wings and the use of that (Bionicle?) piece for the nose. Rear thruster also looks rad! But I agree it could’ve done with a windscreen of some sort. Granted, a helmet provides just as much (little?) protection in these deathraces.
  13. To be fair @LEGO Train 12 Volts, I was just too lazy to remove the plates underneath or I would’ve done just that to gain some extra pieces give the roof some finishing touches. I do agree this looks a lot smarter ‘though, thanks for your comment!
  14. Thanks @Viper Knight, glad you like it. Also thanks to whoever front paged this, always appreciate some extra exposure
  15. Hey @Vliebricker nice to see you here as well! Yes I decided to become a bit more active here again after weeks of lurking around
  16. Thanks @JopieK, glad you like it!
  17. Thanks Thorsten! Yes the piece restriction (combined with my own need for nifty details) did get to me in the end. Yes I was wondering wether to post it there or here but since I'm actually not much of a train head yet (and there is no rails) I decided to post it here.
  18. Thanks guys!
  19. For a competition my LUG is holding we had to recreate a better version of Lego set 60335 with 1000 pieces or less. This is what I came up with: And from the back it looks like this: More pictures can be found on my Bricksafe
  20. (not so) Abandoned Tower by Jip Kempers, on Flickr "On the edge of Wither Woods, next to an abandoned watchtower, stands a Neverdying Tree. They say the fruits she bears are so sweet and hydrating one can drink seawater for days after eating them." A noble prince and his entourage hunts for the tree but after questing for days through dense forest they find it stripped bare. Looking at the black tower next to it his bannerman notices the torches above the door are lit. The prince sends in his squires to search for the missing fruits. But shortly after entering the tower spits one out running for dear life! This place is abandoned no more... Had this base left over from the Summer Joust. Shame to let it go to waste. The tree uses the same frame as Carter Witz's Bonsai Special thanks to Stuifzand from Lowlug for the idea to close off the back of the base, saved me a lot of time!' More (unedited) pics here: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/ClipsAndTiles/not-so-abandoned-tower-moc Thank you for watching!
  21. ^ this Looks like someone poured red/green or blue/yellow paint over the poor thing. Why not dual mould feet and beak like they did with the new monkey? Still looks funky to see the feet in the same colour as the bottom feathers/ Another *sigh* for the cancelled orca!
  22. I see some folks beat me to the punch on the army building comment but here is my 2 cts: Sure, I'd like to build a great battle scene one day with a lot of minifigs (200+) on it, but my criteria will be that the build must look almost equally impressive without the minifigs on them as well. Back on topic: I think the greatest take away here is that, although the tables are turning a bit the last couple of years, TLG still doesn't feel the need to cater to the historical LEGO community. This includes ninja, pirates, adventurers and western, as well as the well known licensed themes and unreleased themes like the post medieval time before the great wars and actual sets on ancient Greece, Rome, Northeast Africa and Asia. Don't know why, since among people with a bit of money to spend on LEGO (AFOLS and their kids) this niche along with Sci-Fi is becoming a lot larger than it used to be. One argument could be the fact that they want conflict (between good and evil) in their sets but refrain from anything related to war/realism. And sure you can't keep everybody happy but if you nibble a bit of budget out of each theme you have a chunk of money gathered to fund a team specifically for these themes and just let them alternate year after year. I know they have quite a couple of designers in house that would love to fill the spots for such a team and would do it justice. Also, I don't see people amass collecting 3 or 4 of the same modular building, whereas it's not uncommon to find at least two of the big castles among the castle builders out there, especially with online PAB/B&P being in the state it is now. At the same time I see people who are more city focused also buying a copy of the Medieval Blacksmith Shop, if not the big castle that was released now.
  23. Not much of an army (yet) as I've still to collect some more of those BAM knights and dark red torsos to fill up the ranks. Thrown together a few months ago because I had little time/inspiration to build for the summer joust. To present and store it in a nice way, a base has been added. The idea is that I can remove the 2x2 tiles with flames and lay the figs in the base/tray and make a stack of trays with figbarfs to use in future MOCs. More pics can be found at: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/ClipsAndTiles/white-falcons Front (from left to right) : King's brother and high general, youngest princess, eldest princess, crown prince, king, queen, sorceress, captain of the royal guard (and husband of the sorceress) Second row fltr: First pikeman, swordmaster, king's uncle and high priest secretly also head of the secret service, king's assassin (mistress of the high priest), lieutenant of the heavy cavalry, earl and his son, halberdier Back row(s): Archer, second pikeman, light infantryman with sword, heavy infantryman with greatsword, daughter of the light infantryman to her left and the heavy cavalrywoman to her right, light infantryman with sword (female, illegitimate daughter of the assassin and the priest), light infantryman with sword and flail, halberdier, crossbowman (son of the heavy infantryman with large sword) And in the back two bannermen on horse.
  24. I have to admit I'm a bit in a weird/privileged position, I've got people living in the area so I just let the seller ship it to them and pick it up whenever I'm there. However during peak COVID when personal travel was a no go (2 weeks in a quarantine hotel for 2k a week when I've got a place to crash there? No thank you) I thought about buying a few big sets at one particular store in Malaysia and have the parcel shipped. I would've easily saved a 100 bucks per set and would only have to pay for shipping once, so I'd still end up paying less than the cheapest EU Bricklink prices+shipping from a couple stores. Sadly two of the five sets were sold out before I pulled the trigger and I couldn't find anything nice enough to replace the price difference. Personally I hate to pay more than 20% shipping on an order, even though sometimes it can't be avoided when buying loose elements. I'd rather just stack up my wishlist for a bit and reduce shipping by a lot.
