Tkx, those are interesting ways of using if you are building a car framework. But I am interest design like guy who made the really big nxt wall-e, he showed off his walle robot at legoworld 2012 copenhagen. But I don't renember the pattern he used... The guy I am refering to is "Marc-Andre Bazergui" and he is from Canada.

yeah I could hear that, but a few day ago during a clean up of my build area. I made a small 4-wheel construction that was power by two pf-xl motor, first by differentials and the by knob wheels. And with knob wheels and every other piece gearing being the same, the car vibrated so much that I had to reinforce it inorder to hold together. I belive the reason was that for long time the power tranfers from each motor was made by pairs of bevel gear only touching half. That is the gears wheels was deplaced by that half stud on the axel above coming from the motor. And during the end, befor I split it. I tried to make the gears diretly above each others, as is normal and implict recommend way of building if you are studying the tlg sets. But the vibrations continued. My guess as to why you aint sure is be course you are using the pf-l motors.

Technic - "old" vs "new"
jacobkristensen replied to Hobbes's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What a great thread. Does anybody renember the green and black barcode truck. Built mostly from studded pieces and the oddly proprammable brick that had a total of one motor output and one sensor input? I sold of the set, during my dark years along with a smaller pneumatic set. And I have regret it alot since. But I stil think of the computer as novelty, and just crossing of where lego electronics is heading. -

And GuiliuG, I will propose that we should forget our old disagreement, but another thing I like about it is that got lego-ish feel to. Maybe a small bit overstyled maybe not. And that is I from the start of will admit I am not good a finding. -
I am sorry about that, as you politely pointed out I am not god at expressing myself in written english( nor in my own language). And that post was made using machin translation, and is post I am just trying to spell it out myself. I am just not that used to trusting a shop posting on ebay instead them haveing their own website. I find it much comforting just to see a person listing his stuff for sale on ebay. But I do know my view, proberly could be consider a bit old school. But my second point was that tlg, in my eyes sometimes has made bigger or more important flagships models than in other years. In a way david, would also if think early backwards in time. Say that the first set to introcude pneumatics in it current form was more important than the other years flagship model. Not that they ain't important all. My view also fits what was said in the interview posted over at TB(http://technicbricks.blogspot.com) e.g. when TLG releases important new parts or groups of parts(think about studless and the first years of sets that contain no or very few classic studded pieces, while nowdays they are often more of a mix, with a clear focus on studless but also on releasing pieces fitting in the old studded sub-system of lego)

I just prefer not having reached suspicious in the trade but I have repeatedly speculate about Lego is trying to coordinate the release(think about 8110 last year and 8275 back in 2007 that gave birth to PF or saw the public release of it). Both of the release where imho bigger than the normal yearly techninc flagship model, and the same goes for when rcx and nxt was released for the very first time.

Track loader
jacobkristensen replied to GuiliuG's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
TS(Thread starter), First of all I will say that it seems to be a quit nice moc. With the right balance of features and mechinal power, and best of all it uses my favorit drivesystem(tracks) despit they sometimes can cause quit a bit of troubles . Oh and just for the record my old 4x4 xl driven tracked tank has been dismantled, and I didn't do extra photos or a 3d cad file of it(manily because for the last few months the amd ati catalyst drive has been quit buggy, and running diablo 3 has been more important). And doing the dismantleing of it I could help but play for a few minutes so i built a tracked 2 * xl drive thing, first with differentials and wheels, then I changed my mind and kept all of it, but replaced the differentials with knobs wheels and allmost at once I noticed a lot more vibrations with the rest unchanged. Has any of you experinced something similiar? -
That is nice of you to create a free lxf model, now that lego/tlg hasn't realised that it could be a good idea todo so inorder to increase the popularity of LDD. Despit that it will cost them a more productions money, but still ldd has for quit some time been lacking behind sr3d, ldraw and mlcad just name a few important none lego computer tools.

That quit funny I have done almost the same as you. I have tried to attach a air tank, but after a few test that showed that would procude a lower pressure I didn't include it. Here is a small video, mostly showing the compressor and the mechanisme for tilt the bed. Do note that the in second part, I have reinforced it or it could rip it self apart. http://www.youtube.c...BT2C6d-fm8&hd=1

I tried to make a few photos to night of the gears, but I couldn't get them properly focused, so I ain't gonna upload them.

Yes it is indeed valueable to know, but I do wonder what he(Gaute Munch) think are different need and requirments between nxt and pf. Because I have my own idea that they choose the rj11 plug, simply to make it easier for other companies to make stuff that fit in the system. And at the cost that they dont care as much about the plug fitting into the lego system, e.g. think about the old 9v system and the current pf, where there are some studs one them. And I can't se the difference between nxt and pf, because lego already carries sensor information over the pf wire in the wedo sets. Are there anybody that has gotten a clue?

Are those tyres lego tyres and if not where to buy them, if somebody should be interessed?
-
Yeah, lol - Or I could just go back to the stock gearing of two 16 tooth gears(1:1), anyway late on when my building are is clean I will take a couple of photos:classic:

Sure, but give me a couple of days. Anyway as far I recalls, the gears got worn in a really old rcx rubber band tracked tank. I uses for some kinde of robotics class codeing a bit assembly for the 8-bit chip:tongue: , anyway the story was that there was a small tournament for the student and the tank had few enginen timing problems.
-
I am using your idea, so either it can happen or the gears are worn down. And I don't have to time to test it, befor after the weekend (Come to think about it I am not sure I got replacement gears, not used in display models).

Anyway I made with my parts. But the younger kids, in my family loved it when I showed them my improved unimog.(Maybe I will do photoshoot and a video of it, with my windows phone later this week). But is there anybody that has problem with gears slipping, 'gearbox' just behind the wheels. I uses a 8 + 24tooth gear resulting a ratio 1:3. But I still have the problem on the left front wheel the gears sometimes slips a lot. And I suspect it because the gears are very worn down.
