Would you and others that are linking to youtube video's. Please be so kind, as to renember to allow the more advanced embedding of the YT player, when you are generating the embed Html v. x? The reason ease that I know from other embedding site, that sometime if the embed player allows it, it fallback from flash to Html5 video tag with, mpeg 4/h.264 instead. And that is very useful. I would gues that if you has turn ads on for your videos that then html5 will not be and option right now, but I think youtube is working on it. Else see http://www.youtube.com/html5. Also a direkt link to your video is here with a nice webm or h.264 rendering codec instead

Allan I already does that, because else it ain't possible to power all four pf-xl at max current and effect. And I have tried it befor I got the second battery box installed and you see the difference in the motors performance. -

Ah yeah of course your right, and swich around paralle and serial setups. I think my electrial physic, is bit rusty when not use to much. But how will you make the design whitout IR-reciver? -
Sariel your mech genius . Do you off the bat think it possible to design. A drive train for tracked tank, with differential drive and four motors. To plain right now the tank(I post it earlier, several month ago I think), just has four pf-xl attach at all the corners or you say at both ends off the track. But I am admit to have looked much into differential drive and suspended drive train. Since I see from it performance that with its pikes grib the tracks sometime runs out of sync. One of the idea i am toying with in my head, would be two off your diffential drive add gear trains. And simply set to them together back to back. But I am fearing the trouble that could give, since then could each end of the tracks get out sync. And yes I have heared crouncing sound from the gears right now, that when they are block/stalled at one end. Has made my a bit nervous. And btw. I am almost 99,99+% sure that I am going to get the new book of yours, as and very late birthday present for myself

I really cant see your point. The servo should make thing easier, and large motor is looking to be the best drive motor for cars and stuff like that since, the RF 9V old style car race kit. But come up with some arguments. So I dearly hope that lego at some poin in the future will unify pf and nxt. And maybe even transition PF from IR to RF. Secondly I would love to see pneumatics pf valve, and wire/connector that would allow several batterie box to be put in a serial circut. Simply to leve out the power drain on all the boxes. Take i.e. my tank with right now runs 4 x xl, and you be in need of and upgrade to control the pneumatics. That would add 3 + 1 pf-m, three for control and one for the compressor. -

My take on it too:hmpf_bad: -

Come too think about guys, do you belive we will be closer to obtain pure lego flight. With use of the l-motor and the new blades? Without any math nor physics. Beside a and educated guess, I will say that we get closer, but that ultimately no. But my bet is that best possible design will be a quadrocopter. Because of it stablity, because if we were able to make think that could lift-off, I am quit sure that the weight to power ratio would make sure. We didn't have weight to spend on anything like control of vehicle. -

I depends on, if just ours needs. Or it needs kids appeal. -
2013 Speculation?
jacobkristensen replied to andythenorth's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well a forklift would be on my personal top three for 2013. It should come with a few but important improvements. Firste extra long pneumatics cylinders for the lift it self. Secondly a PF-pneumatic valve or two, for conrolling the raise of the lift. And maybe also the tilt of the lift. Depending on cost, they could either include the 8110 compressor or built moveable(think a servo for steering and either a pf-xl or pf-l for drive). -
2013 Speculation?
jacobkristensen replied to andythenorth's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah I am very much hoping for, some combo model. Like the ones combing pneumatics and PF. That could be the space shuttle, to celebrate that it has end more 30th years of service to nasa. Or it could be a walking bot, with pf motors and a new nxt chip, geared for working with PF. There plenty of usefull and powerfull SoC(System on Chip) solutions lego could combine into a new brick and shave off the unwanted functions(wifi, gps, 3g/lte, gyro, accelerometers). Another options is them leaving all, pf elements has to been in set police. And instead release a highly advanced supercar platform. It could be two diffentent options. 1. Model + PF motors think some like one servo, and 2 L(XL?) motors for drive and a PF-S(small) motor for secondary functions(gears, doors...) But none R/C nore batteries boxes. 2. Model + but strip for PF. But got more baseline features and ready for the biggest PF upgrade so fare sanctioned by TLG. -

You might be able, to reduces it to three valves on the remote and keep the rest including a compressor(8110, maybe x2 or you could include a air tank and drop the autovalves) onboard the model and rechargeable battery box, but it would fill up the cabin of it... -

I guess that, and I am trying to hoax Blackbird into release a link to the sr3d file:cry_happy: -

Guys could some those files be made ready for download. I got to purpose one is to study the software, which I already knew. But never have mastered and secondly to allow for possible inspiration, just by look at 3d model. Because I have consider making a bucket loader from 9398 + the unimog(think PPTO, PTO and the compressor(maybe x2)) and the old 10 piece pneumatic set of an excavator. I am fine with it, as long as you release the raw 3d cad files. The people can do what they want, like making pov-ray renderings or make into instructions. -
It could be fun. But I rather start of running some C# on a nxt brick or a faster future version of it. Because some the advance rover algorithm nasa on uses should be freely available some where on the internet. And the that has to be simplyfied and modded to fit the sensor array of a future rover of mine. But my point still is, that I am not gonna redesign my bots to fit the foolish dimenzion of the nxt motor compared to pf motors. So I am left waiting in the dark until the reel 3th generation of mindstorms. And oh by the way already got a rcx 1.5 kit. But that hopeless, boths it software and sensor possiblities.

Yeah I could be one of those, who get this set. That would mark it as, the second year in a row where I get the flagship model, to myself as a birthday present:sweet: I just hope the PF S-Motor got all the servo tricks I am hoping for. Which is as described on TB. The PF L-Motor could maybe be better compromise on my LEGO ATV GP Tank, and do without differentials, in 4 x 4 setup. Which I can't figur out, nor do I want to use the time doing it in, e.g. a cad program. Because I spend hour daily in Visual Studio right now and, that will also be my furture. And SR 3D builder, is really great regards it features and worth it prices. But it control compared to other software made by pro like autocad, just makes it sucks. And blewing up my models. Regarding the eletrics part, from stand point of a computer scientist and where interestere in physics guy(got in a max level in high school, with good grades!) I will say buy it, buy it, buy it. And for the sake, of good reason forget all but mindstorms nxt. Lego has been planing of years, to make transision into one electris system suitable for both common usage(train, techninc and robotics(mindstorm). And they haven't release anything new or worth notning regards nxt for long, except some improved sensor. Wich could easliy be convert to PF.Or at is my take

I finally got around to upload this video. It is recorded when I attended LEGOWOLRD 2012 in Bella Centeret, Amager, Copenhagen. This video show off a rather big container crane, lifting big containers. I don't who made it nor do I have their permission to post it online. If I get around to it, I will post some other videos, but this was one the more interesting mocs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rIpJWeemPI

How do you handle steering, bye reversing the power on the back wheels or?
