Reminds me of spelling bees. The word is"hyperbolic." Can you use it in a sentence? Yes: "The idea that difficulty with disassembly of a small Lego subassembly completely destroys the whole concept of Lego itself is hysterically hyperbolic."
-
Stand corrected. 8 pieces = .12% or $1.00 of set cost rounding up. People thinking about returning the set might want to keep in mind that both the set and the Lightsaber which would have to be returned with it are currently selling at quite a profit in the secondary market. Bricklink is showing the lightsaber at anywhere between $125 and $300. https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-star-wars-at-at-lightsaber-silly-money/

Why? Are you actually planning on taking the set apart after you built it? The link you posted addresses the problem discussed ad nauseam in this thread and also mentions that another portion of the model is a little fiddly to take apart. The subassembly in question looks like it is built twice which would mean that at the absolute worst two pieces (the axle and green tube) would have to be sacrificed for disassembly x 2. Four pieces out of 6785 = .059% or about 47 cents of $800 set cost based on US pricing. Is that really enough to turn you off of the set?

I think you miss my point. Like the vast majority of the population, your nephew is very unlikely to care at all about this "issue."
-
Your nephew will likely be very disappointed if he learns that you didn't get him a very desirable set because in the unlikely event he ever wishes to take it apart he will have a difficult time with 2 (or 8 if step is repeated for each leg) pieces out of thousands. Worst comes to worst, you snip the green piece and pin in two and sacrifice them although in reality I think it will be doable without going to that extreme.

Lego Architecture - rumors and discussion
Friscorays replied to Herky's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Best I can say is that this helps with my budget for some other non-Architecture set. Easy pass. -
AT AT actually became available in US about three minutes early and I placed my order. Site went to que screen at midnight but I am back in and AT AT still shows as available as of 16 after midnight ET.

So anybody that enjoys building, collecting and displaying Lego sets doesn't qualify as a true fan unless they have done so since the beginning of time (or are willing to shell out outlandish amounts of money for old sets to pretend that they did) and have both enough free time and creativity to build their own MOCs? Got it.

Everything can be improved upon but I imagine this is going to be quite a job. I would be interested in seeing what you come up with....

Sometimes when I order shortly after midnight my purchase date will show the previous day's date. I ordered $250 shortly after midnight on 11/20 and qualified for double VIP as well as Santa's yard and retro tin GWPs. Although my order date incorrectly shows as 11/19, I received the correct number of points for the double VIP promo; $25 worth. Did Lego actually short change you on VIP points or are you just worried that they might have because of date shown on the order?

Counting the bricks before build commences
Friscorays replied to Rusty43's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Of course, which is why I explicitly stated that waiting for a missing part or two (which in this case probably aren't even actually missing) would be my preference rather than potentially dumping 2000+ pieces of plastic into the ground for the next 100 to 1300 years. -

It may be more expedient to return the partially built set and the the returned set may be resold at a discount but it is also possible that a lot of plastic Lego will end up in a dump somewhere so my preference would be to wait for the replacement parts. The purchase contract may be with retailer but Lego customer service makes complimentary replacement of missing or damaged parts pretty painless excluding the wait time for delivery. -

I just went through the instructions. By my count, the steps for bag one require 15 of part #4640536 which is what you report having. It looks like the remaining two of that part are used during bag two so that is where your "missing" two cogs should be found. Lego divides pieces for sets based on when they are needed and not by type so the same piece will often be distributed throughout multiple bags. In the future (as others have said) if you should come up short, Lego will replace missing parts via their on line shop even if you did not purchase the set directly from them. -

Since you are new to Lego, I will point out that not all of the same pieces included with a set are included in any particular bag. If you have enough of the cogs to finish all of building steps for bag one then you will likely find the two remaining cogs in subsequent bags when you reach the build step where they are required. Otherwise if you are short the same pieces twice after receiving two different sets you might want to make sure you have not confused anything. Lego can and does have part errors but they are quite uncommon so to have the same error twice in a row would be mind-bogglingly unlikely. -

The photo above shows that all of the vignettes take up a considerable amount of space on a decent size table. Speaking for myself, I store my unbuilt sets in a closet. However once I open a set, I build it in its entirety. Although the vignettes could be stored more efficiently when disassembled and the nice thing about Lego is that it can be built and unbuilt essentially ad infinitum, I prefer not to utilize my time taking things apart and then reassembling them; especially when the nine vignettes in this set would call for assembly and disassembly at almost monthly intervals. Obviously others might, and do, feel differently.

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Friscorays replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hopefully their will be more stock of the Luke lightsaber GWP than there was with the Yoda lightsaber GWP but the Yoda set is currently selling on the secondary market for $113 plus so even if you are not interested in the Luke lightsaber set based on its merits as a set, you might still be interested in it for other reasons.... -
I think khan98 is in the minority. There was no mention of GWP with any of the 11 sets I have purchased through the Bricklink program so far and I didn't expect there to be. I don't expect bombarding Lego customer service reps with requests will do much except for the majority except gum up the works even more.

Not so fast. As SuperSirLink states, this is actively debated but many strongly favor three blades for center propeller. https://www.markchirnside.co.uk/TitanicThreeBladedCentrePropeller.html

Windmill just reached funded status to finish second and Venetian Houses have pulled into third position with the bowling alley (which is my favorite set for this round) falling into a close fourth. I added Lego store and aquarium to my prior orders so I can have what looks to be a complete group of 5 for round two. I like the calendar and the scenes are a great idea but I don't know where I would store them all when not in use so for the price I think I will pass even if it pulls into the fifth slot. I also like the ruined house but it is priced so closely to the Venetian houses that the two are set up to go head to head with each other. With that matchup, the popularity of the modular theme probably steered many toward the Venetian set; it did for me.
