I can't see this series going too far but then what do I know. I bought one of the smaller sets because I liked the vehicle but none of the other sets interested me. I visit many Lego retailers on a regular basis and they don't seem to move much. I think the idea behind it is cool but the sets just are not thought out well. It really just comes down to personal preference. Who knows, it may turn out to be a huge series for Lego. As for the first question, I think this is Lego's new "space" theme and NO, I don't think it's as good as past space themed sets. I do like the colors involved though.

That's actually pretty cool. The music was perfect for this thing. Very entertaining. Great Job! -
If there's something strange, in your neighborhood...

Simple but extremely recognizable. Awesome little build! -
Some cool shots you got here. Made me laugh a few times.

This is pretty cool. It reminds me of the game Battleship.

What's your favorite minifigure?

I would have to agree on this. I was into the early pirates theme shortly before going into my dark ages. I saved them all of course and still own them. Redbeard was always a favorite of mine. -
Great buildings! The interior details are superb! Great job!

That's something you don't see everyday. Very cool!

I really like this. It's simple with just the right amount of detail. It reminds me of an old PC game I used to play. Great job!!

Great little build!! The detail is perfect and reminds me of the bike shop down the road from me. Nice work!

There is a very similar topic in train tech right now on different train sets. I would check that out. As far as EN goes, you can either check out eBay for additional passenger cars or bricklink the parts. The EN is a powerful loco and can pull the standard amount of cars just like any other Lego locomotive. Buying just the EN will require you to buy a lot of separate components. I would look into buying a set first.

Great topic! This has been a very interesting read. I remember walking through a toy store in my dark ages and I noticed the lack of Lego sets. When I was a kid the toy stores were jam packed with different sets so this was strange. Most of the sets were the soccer or football themed sets so this was around 2006 I guess. I was shocked that this was what Lego had become. Interactive Lego sets, much like board games or that old metal vibrating football game we had as children, this was the direction they went? It was actually quite depressing. Some of the bigger retailers around that time didn't carry a lot of different sets.

Picked up 17 series 5 minifigures from FiveBelow. The clerk says "that's a lot of money for a bunch of Lego guys". I said " yeah, I know".

I never really thought about using different colored bricks for the EN. What a great idea. That would be so cool to have a fleet of them in different colors. Excellent job!!

They are all very impressive builds. I esspecially like your work on the deisels. Sometime down the road I'd like to build that RS-2, what a beauty!! -
Great looking building!! I'd love to see an interior to this if you ever get around to it. Nice work.

One of the first sets I bought, coming out of my dark ages, used the cheese slopes for headlights on a truck. I liked the new take on the headlights as it was more modernized from the old clear yellow square but part of me was sad. Well, maybe not sad but I knew right then and there that Lego wasn't the same anymore. Change can be a good thing. Hell, I even remember when they introduced the "light" pieces as flat tiles instead of having a stud on all of them. I really like the cheese slopes. They have allowed for more detail in many ways.

I found another article that said they are slightly smaller than the current minifigures.

"Friends is an theme to be released in 2012. It will replace Belville, and include 23 sets total. Sets include houses, a cafe, a vet clinic, a beauty shop, and stables. Brick colours include pink, purple, turquoise, and tan. It will be a more story-based theme following five girls (animal lover, smart girl, beautician, singer, and a social girl). Sets include some mini-dolls that you put together and are about the same size as regular minifigures. There will be custom moulds for horses, cats, porcupines, and cupcake bottoms." I found this on the Brickapedia site. I still can't access the pictures. EDIT- added quotations.

It appears that you're running powered engines in the middle of the train right after the container cars. There is your problem. The front engines are picking up speed on the straight as the Maersk engines slow into the curve. This causes any slack to be pulled tight thus pulling the cars from the rails. All of your loco's should be at the front. The PF system along with different loco gearing makes it almost impossible to keep the engines at a constant speed especially on curves. You could run one engine at the end as a pusher but would have to continuously adjust the speed through the curves.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
22kane replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I found them at FiveBelow here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania today. They had four cases sitting at the register. I am planning on getting most of them from a local hobby store for $2 each when they get them in but I couldn't help myself so I bought a handful. This is the first time I've seen them in America and $3 is the going rate on them here. Ive already been able to easily identify the parts by feeling the packages so putting a couple sets together shouldn't be a problem. I'm just excited that they're finally here!! -
I found series 5 MF today at FiveBelow here in America!! I bought 11 packs. This is the first time I've seen them in this country so far.

Nice review. The World Racers sets didn't seem to do very well and you don't hear much about them on EB. I bought this set some time ago along with several other WR sets at a clearance price. I'll pretty much buy any Lego set if it's cheap enough. I would have thought the playability for a child would be high but this entire series never went too far. Most retailers that haven't clearanced out their inventory are still sitting on piles of them. The minifigures and their attire is interesting in some of the sets and I'm happy to own some of them. All in all it's not a terrible series and I'm happy to see someone do a review on them. :)

I completely agree. Most Lego trains are based on European models except for a handful. I think we are going to see more European models in the future as well. I would like to think that Lego is going to put more focus into American models but I'm sure it won't happen. I think the Maersk sales in the end will be the deciding factor on how soon the next American loco model is released.
