  1. When I saw the Scrooge McDuck mini-fig in the Disney CMF2 I knew what I had to build as my next GBC module! I present to you Scrooge McDucks Money Bin, which is loosely based on the vault seen in the Ducktales cartoon. It's built primarily with white and bright green brick, I used flame orange for the $ on the front of the building. The build was a little bit different then most GBC builds. Usually in GBC you build the lift mechanism first, but this time I built the structure first. I then built the conveyor and fitted in in the back. The last part of the build was getting the recirculation feature working inside the "chute" the balls fall through. I hope you enjoy the build !
  2. The builders name is Spencer D from VicLUG. You've posted the old version of Hippo's. He displayed the updated model alongside myself and some other builders in the GBC layout at BrickCan 2018. You can see the updated model in the "follow the ball" video I did here at 3m30s.

  5. Not sure what there is to be confused about, I've seen the sets and posted what I can remember. One other thing I remember noticing is that the car transporter had the small wire fencing up top (i guess they are to prevent the delivery guy from falling off the top?) Similar to the image below.
  6. Similar to the this one here, they looked gnarly. Transporter scale wasn't that large, (it was a double decker trailer) and It was shot from the front so I couldn't see any actuators. I feel like the sports car it came with was about 11-13 studs wide. The transporter itself was a 1 box design, did not have a snout like the mack.

  9. I'm not an expert on all of the Technic tires available but I do remember looking at the image closely and was impressed that they looked new and large and not like those tractor wheels. (I'm almost certain they had a different tread pattern)

Hey everyone, I was at BrickCan 2019 this weekend displaying GBC with several other builders and Milan Reindl was there as a guest speaker (and he shared his journey to becoming a technic designer, which was interesting). He revealed to us 3 new Technic sets during the opening ceremonies, and put emphasis on us being the first people outside of TLG to see the images. The images shown had the usual Lego Confidential stamp so I didn't take any photo's. First was a Yellow Spider Crane, second was a Car Transporter + Sports Car, and the 3rd was a Control+ 4x4 Rock Crawler that had big burly wheels. As well he showed us the giant Libherre but we already knew about that. The scale of the spider crane was hard to determine but it looked tall, and the legs spread out quite a bit. The Transport looked okay, it's nice that it came with a vehicle to transport. The rock crawler wheels were really off-road looking I think they are a new design, the articulation of the front and rear axles looked impressive. The control+ app had the same sort of telemetry as the Lieberr in regards to seeing the current angle of the vehicle as it drives over things.
  11. 1 Ball per second is just a suggestion, and only important if you are participating in collaborative events. Aside from that, my suggestion would be to create a splitter on the ramp that just bypasses every second ball down a chute or different path. That will take 50% of your load off the buckets. You can see a compact style splitter I have put on the top of my Pachinko conveyor here.

  13. I've recently completed my first EV3 module, a simple GBC Ball counter inspired by Tom Atkinson's ball counter. It's a simple module that will allow me to tally up the total number of balls run through upcoming collaborative layouts I will be attending throughout the year. I've added the ability to save and load your count, which will be useful for multi-day events. The programming could be improved as well as the decoration. I will reassess this after BrickCan 2019 in May.

  15. That train crash in the Brickvention Video was hilarious :) #realGBC. Does anyone have any numbers on the L motor powered carts vs the M motor powered carts in regards to battery life? Anecdotal is fine.
  16. Nice boost module! Boost is terrible for GBC due to the requirement of a connected bluetooth device. I had to hardwire mine to 9v power and leave my phone on the table during BrickCon so that it could operate. I built an extra bypass module to solve the issue of taking my phone away from the GBC area.

  19. So Lego made a 4th, Powered Up Hub... I guess I'm 100% wrong!!
  20. Prepare for disappointment. I'm 100% sure the set uses 2 BOOST HUBS. Each Boost hub has 2 built in motors and 2 outputs. One will be on the bottom, and power the treads and turret rotation. The upper Hub will power the other 4 motors. With this configuration the turret will be able to spin 360 degrees without having to stop. As well if the model is sending back incline information, it's most definitely using the Boost hub because it already has a built in tilt sensor. 12xAAA batteries total, and if you haven't heard the BOOST Hub devours batteries.
  21. I'm looking forward to seeing it. My order of 8 large sprockets just shipped, I may retrofit them depending on how your module looks/runs.
  22. Thanks for the feedback. While the module looks great, it could use some additional strengthening as only the middle section has beams bracing it together. Also a ball can sometimes get in a strange position on the separators and miss the output. I have a bit of work to do on it before I bring it to a public show.
  23. Nice work doug, another great addition to the akiyuki v2 system. I might want to use that scissor lift mechanism as a stand alone GBC module :)
