Oh I agree that Indiana Jones doesn’t nearly have the source material that HP has. And in a couple years time, I think HP itself is going to struggle with that problem once they do Deathly Hallows sets and resort to remakes. But if Indiana Jones sticks to doing one set per film each year, I can definitely see them stretching it to three waves if not four more waves. And I personally prefer having small waves like that so I can collect them all. Not only could they do a bunch of remakes like Shanghai Chase or Venice, but they do the five Maguffins as well. Personally if I can get a Petra Temple and the Last Crusade Train, I’m a happy camper.

I mean the HP revival in 2018 only had 2 Fantastic Beast sets and 5 HP sets and look how the theme has blossomed. Initially it was supposed to be a three year plan but due to its immense popularity the theme has become evergreen. I predict Lego has a similar plan with these sets, the theme will stick around for three years. I don’t think Indy is as big as HP so it’ll be harder to make it evergreen.

When the GWP is leagues better than any of the Hogwarts Extensions this year…

Thank you so much for coming in clutch! Sure it might be cramped, but still looks glorious all the same!

Kind of a random question but does anyone have any pictures of The Shrieking Shack combined with the rest of Hogsmeade?

Icons is a nice set but it wasn’t a I need to buy this set because it wasn’t minifig scale. Probably the easiest set to skip. Same with the Hogwarts D2C.In similar vein, I’ll probably skip the $480 Hogwarts Express. I really quite like the 2018 version and for $80 it was a very solid set. Will it be a nice set? Probably but it’s really not an imperative set to own since I already own one. I don’t have room for it either and it’s partly why from this point forward I’m really just going to buy new never really been done sets like Ministry of Magic or Grimmauld Place

Just saw the reveals and there’s some incredible stuff and some underwhelming: Hogwarts expansions: What I really loved and defended the 2021 line of Hogwarts was that they focused on interior space and recreating key scenes. But Sirius Black’s rescue is all empty space, it’s quite ridiculous how hollow it is especially. Maybe more so than Fluffy Encounter. If you’re gonna sacrifice the exterior for interiors, might as well make them decent. Dumbledore’s Office is quite underwhelming, seems like the library got more attention than the part the set was named after. The 2002 version had a way better layout and would have preferred getting the staircase in this set than the Sirius Black set. Nice we’re getting a new Filch, Norris, and Prince. Also love baby Fawkes. But I can’t really defend these extensions anymore. Shrieking Shack: I love this set so much, and I admit that I was wrong that this wouldn’t be a great set. Love the new light brown Lupin variant, the updated Whomping Willow, and the transformation idea is creative. Loved how they got the moon up there. 12 Grimmauld Place: Again another set I wasn’t really looking forwards to but actually turned out quite impressive. Thank the gods we finally have OoTP Sirius and I always take new variants of the twins. And Tonks has that duck face! So cool. Also love the Black painting. While I’m surprised they made this before the Second Task, it’s a welcome surprise and honestly one of my faves in the line’s history. Ministry of Magic: Love the details on this one! Nice we’re getting Umbridge’s Office somewhere even if it’s not in Hogwarts itself and I love the rubber ducky in Arthur’s Office! That Pious figure is so spot on. And I’ll always welcome more Umbridge variants as well. Another great set, though the green kinda feels tacky. Thestral Carriage: Nice seeing a return to these smaller Forbidden Forest set! Love the new Harry and Luna variants and it’s a great way to pick up some thestrals. Also love the carriage build.

1) Diagon Alley 2) The Burrow 3) Rise of Voldemort 4) Chamber of Secrets 5) Astronomy Tower 6) Polyjuice Potion Mistake 7) Expecto Patronum 8) Great Hall (A lot of nostalgia for the ToyFair, announcing the return of the theme and reveal of this set) 9) Hogwarts Express 10) Umbridge Encounter

Overall it’s a solid wave, wouldn’t go out of my way and say it’s the best one though, 2020 still wears that crown. Still kinda bummed that there is no Second Task set or Dumstrang Ship yet we’re getting a second Hungarian Horntail. Unpopular opinion, I thought the first one was fine and if it was any bigger, you couldn’t have it perched on Hogwarts without it looking ridiculous. Thestral scene is a good pick and a nice return to the forest/creatures scene started with Aragog. Will definitely pick it up. Hogwarts Dark Tower is not the most exciting pick and even a bit unnecessary, not the most exciting set. I’ll probably pick it up ONLY because Sirius’s Rescue was my first ever Lego set. Dumbledore’s Office: A must have to me. While The Clocktower version was alright for what is was, I’m ready to see this baby fully fleshed out. I think it will a CoS version which was ideal imo and I’m wondering if we might get the hallway painted in blood “Enemies of the heir beware.” Ministry of Magic: Finally seeing the climax of OoTP or at least elements of it with the golden statue and prophecy room. It’s about time we see this scene done in Lego and more dementors are always welcome. Another must have. Shrieking Shack: Now that this set is out, I’ll definitely buy it alongside Hogsmeade should make for a great display.

I would love to see a “Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserve it” a stand-alone Chamber of Secrets set so they can do it justice at a larger scale.

Looks like we got most of piece counts via instagram besides D2C and 76508. 76400- 121 pieces, $19.99 76401 - 345 pieces $49.99 76402 - 654 pieces $79.99 76403 - 990 pieces $99.99 76406- Buildable Creature 671 pieces $49.99 76507- 777 pieces $89.99 As for the completionist discussion, I own all of the system scale sets and CMFs besides Hogsmeade which I plan to get eventually. No animals, no micro scale, no object sets. That’s probably the way I’ll keep it unless there’s some unwarranted remakes like a Hagrid’s Hut or Hogwarts Express that don’t offer anything worth another purchase.

Sirius Black OoTP, Grindylows, Umbridge’s Office

For $470, I really don’t want just Gringott’s. Personally if they make Gringott’s, my one hope is that it scales with the rest of Diagon Alley. I could care less for the mine tracks and underground vaults. Just want to complete the street. But $470 is still a bit much even if they included Borgin & Burke’s and the Leaky Cauldron or other shops. Hoping for Diagon Alley II, but it’s probably going to be something left field like the Icon set.

Obviously the $90 Clocktower is going to be better than the $50 version, but I still think for nearly half the price, it’s pretty solid and a cute build. Love Pomfrey and hopefully we get a nice skelli-grow mold. Still even haven’t seen the interiors yet which are the new line’s greatest strength. I just hope it’s not just the infirmary on the inside and we get something a bit more.

It’s probably delayed to go with the January 2022 sets which is totally cool with me.

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RODDY replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
For me personally, I have no interest in any of the 18+ sets. Since I already own the 2016 Death Star which did the Trash Compactor just fine, I have no interest in it. Same with Yoda’s Hut, I already own the $30 version and paired it with the X Wing that came out that same year. The only thing that would convince me otherwise would be having the cave but there’s no Vader so that’s unlikely. Also kinda dumb to have the “do or do not” quote without the X Wing is trying to lift. But that’s just my take on it. I’ll still buy the Death Trooper packs, The Mandalorian sets have been killer. -
I think for a GWP, it’s pretty great if it were an actual retail set, then it would be held to a different standard. I really love the bunk bed builds and might give us a glimpse of how the Hospital wing might look but with different colors. To me it’s easily the most useful GWP and not just a simple throwaway. Also getting 4 wizard cards is pretty dope as well.
-
Definitely excited for the Hospital Wing and that were finally getting a Madame Pomfrey! Also love that 2021 Hogwarts line is expanding, looks like I’m going to take down my 2018-2020 line to make some more room. Only complaint is price $40 for a Hospital Wing seems kinda odd for a bunch of beds wished there was something else alongside it like maybe the Divination classroom or the Boggart closet, like how Fluffy Encounter had the temporary DADA classroom. Don’t need a huge infirmary but I’ll reserve judgement till photos leak. Fingers crossed for Skelligrow. As for the Moments sets, I could care less for both of them. But having the DADA classroom be Moody’s is such an odd pick. Thought it was weird in the Clocktower, now it’s just baffling, easily the worst DADA classroom.

As much as I would love another Diagon Alley Expansion, the minifigs on that set aren’t the most thrilling so I would go with the D2C Second Task at around $300 personally. The trade off between not completing the street for all the new minifigs is worth it to me. Builds would include Dumstrang Ship, the three piers and a nice underwater build where everyone is bound up. Minifigs would be Gilly Harry, Shark Krum, 2nd task Cedric, 2nd task Fleur, Ron, Hermoine, Gabriella, Karkaroff, Barty Crouch Sr, Mad Eye Moody, Dumbledore, Neville, Rita Skeeter, 3x Grindylows, 2x Mermaids. That’s my dream HP set right there.
-
To add onto this, not only would I love a downscaled Naboo Starfighter but I would love a downscaled Sith Infiltrator and give The Phantom Menace some much needed love. For minifigs I would love to see Maul, Qui Gonn, Little Ani, and Shmi.
-
Personally I’m not a big fan of the D2C Quidditch Pitch, would be an easy skip for me. If the next D2C isn’t Diagon Alley related, I would love to see a full blown Whomping Willow with a larger Ford Anglia build. Have the knob feature that allows it shake and cheery blossom leaves to switch in and out. You could have Werewolf Lupin and Padfoot as an exclusive figures.

Tbf, I like yourself love the new 2021 modular Hogwarts but it’s not very clear to which line it belongs to. In the instruction manual when it shows the combined Hogwarts it only shows Chamber, Fluffy, and Bathroom and doesn’t have a place for the First Flying Lesson. It doesn’t have any of the Sand Green or Grey pieces so it can go anywhere one wants.

Are they scarfs, they always struck me as bookmarks.

While I personally don’t like the buildable objects, if they do sell well and help keep the Harry Potter line alive, then I’ll accept it as a “necessary evil”. I’d much rather have a couple of good sets that round out what we’re missing then having no sets at all. Because if we are excluding DH since Lego doesn’t seem so keen on making, you could fit in a singular wave. 1) Shrieking Shack 2) 2nd Task/Dumstrang Ship 3) Ministry Battle 4) Inferi Cave 5) Gringott’s/Borgin & Burke’s D2C I see the buildable objects as a way for Lego to keep an imo, not an evergreen theme evergreen. Throw in a bunch of remakes and more of the new modular Hogwarts extensions as they have been doing, they have content for the next five years at least. Maybe eventually they’ll throw in some more less likely sets like 12 Grimmauld’s Place to test the waters. Also means more spread out purchases for me, which is totally fine since there are so many other themes to collect as well. Honestly I’m just thankful for the first three years and while I thought the 2021 wave didn’t stack up as well to waves prior, I really do love the new modular Hogwarts.
