Oh shoot you right. I made the mistake of the Hogwarts Grounds set being one of the two mystery sets instead of it replacing the Knight Bus D2C.
-
Only if you do the technics for my sets.
-
With pic leaks/reveal probably within a month, I’m really hoping to get some confirmation of what the final set is. Fingers crossed for Durmstrang Ship because along with Gringotts, those are the last two sets I really need
-
I actually kinda enjoy stickers, it helps change up the pace of the building process and slows it down a bit.
-
Thank you! Will agree with you all this reasoning for canceling Temple Of Doom is pretty vapid and corporate bs, like I said didn’t particularly care for the set butI think they could of have given us a more clear explanation. I hate the word consolidate btw.
-
Eh I wasn’t a big fan of the Temple of Doom set to begin with so it’s not a big loss to me besides the minifigs. Maybe if I saw official pics for that one my mind would have changed but the statue on that thing was way off. It was the set I was initially most hyped about because Temple is my favorite Jones action scene, but this was so lackluster. Hopefully the delay means a better product that comes next year if there is another wave.

Aye official reveal on my birthday let’s go! I don’t know about you guys, but all these sets have really grown on me. At first I bashed them for being too bright and cartoony but with each time a new leak with better pics, I’ve really come to love all these. Just really happy to have Indiana Jones back in some way, make me giddy like when HP first came back in 2018. Sure the reveal was a bit lackluster, but it doesn’t matter because all that does is that I’ll be at the Lego Store April 1.
-
The more leaked pictures I see of the Temple of the Golden Idol, the more I fall in love with it. What a beaut.
-
Just to be sure, the three sets are still coming out April 1 right?
-
Lmao, I could see myself paying $60 for that but $80 is absolutely preposterous. It’s a decent sized set yeah but that’s a bit bunch imo. I mean I’m using my VIP points for the entire wave so it doesn’t bother me personally but still terrible.
-
Even if these three sets are all there is the to revival of the theme, I’m just happy we got an incredible Temple of the Golden Idol set. Had that one as a kid so getting another crack at that is great. This new one is a huge W. But still a wee bit disappointed that we wouldn’t be able to get a Grail set or a Shanghai Chase remake.

So I saw the clear images and uhmm how do I say delicately this? Stay calm Roddy, stay calm….THE TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN IDOL IS STUNNING! I love every thing about this set and they even included the little sack of sand which Indy uses to replace the idol, it’s literally everything I could have dreamed and then some. Between this and the Black Lake set, the memberberries are really spiking my dopamine levels.

It’s honestly mind blowing how much detail is crammed into this thing, it feels so lively and adventure packed the way an Indiana Jones set should feel. A bit cluttered and messy but that’s how I like it. This 100%. The Fighter Plane and the Temple of the Idol are the two best sets. The rest I’m not sold on besides minifigs like Sallah and Maharaja. I think it’s about 2 to 2 1/2 of dioramas, it’s a bit at an angle so it looks smaller but even then the thing is detailed to the gills and has quite the voluminous presence.
-
Just saw the image, although blurry I think it looks absolutely incredible. It’s the only set that made me audibly go wow. Now that’s more like it, can’t wait to see this officially revealed. Probably my favorite Lego set so far this year.
-
I personally think the sets probably got pushed back to June so they can release with the Dial of Destiny sets and get more eyes on them.
-
I actually kinda like the new Indiana Jones mini figure, I just hope he comes with his satchel.

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RODDY replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yavin IV sounds absolutely delightful, it’s one of the few OT locations that haven’t been properly represented yet so this is phenomenal. And more play sets at higher price points are always welcome. Mini figure selection will be pretty solid too, we haven’t had ceremonial Leia in ten years so that will be a good update with the new dress piece. Mon Mothma and a grey variant of Bail would be nice too. And I adore the standard rebel fleet trooper design in general so more of them is cool. Will definitely pick this up on Day 1. Swamp Speeder I have no interest unless it’s Bly. D2C is very interesting. Jabba’s Sail Barge was rumored to have 6,500 pieces at $500 and this is 5,000 pieces at $650. Maybe they made it smaller and tossed in more minifigs idk, but my hunch is that this isn’t the Barge. (I really hope it is tho) $650 is a bit much for any Endor set being the Bunker and Village. Don’t think they would give us both in one set, it would be one or the other. So I’m putting this as a new Death Star remake since there’s no other MBS style location from the OT left with Yavin IV confirmed for summer. -
I definitely think it’s the colors that are off. Having vibrant polished colors that have come to defined the Lego palette over the years works for stuff like Harry Potter because it’s whimsical and magical. But Indy has always been a grittier and darker film series and tonally I don’t think these sets replicate that vibe. Yes they are campy and pulpy tributes to the serials and very tongue in cheek, but the actual environments are way more grounded. That’s why the older sets work better imo, the color palette back in 2009 was a bit more drab. And the citreon seems to be the best received set of them all for that reason. Like look at the Well of Souls, those Anubis statues have these bright gold very clean statues that are supposed to be from a thousand year tomb, there’s no wear or tear. The statue in the Temple is borderline furry looking with all this bright red. The Temple Escape set is not too bad from what I see besides the palm trees and stuff. I think there’s good sets in these sets if they toned them down a bit. These are adventure sets, yet everything feels so polished and sanitized.

Hello, what do we have here? I’m swooning man.

As the professional resident Lockhart enthusiast, even though I enjoyed the two we got so far, the new hairpiece recolored would definitely be more accurate. The bigger crime imo was not including a cape with the Orange Gold variant of Lockhart.

For me personally it goes 1) Displayable: Simply put does the set look good on a shelf and to the eye in general 2) Minifig Quality: Minifigs are weighted about equal to the set imo. A meh set can become a buy with good minifigs, a pretty set with not great minifigs can put a damper on it. 3) Accuracy: I’m not a huge stickler on accuracy. The Lego medium will never 100% capture reality and that’s fine and there’s a charm to that. As long as it looks decently close and looks good, I’m not gonna complain. For example the Lupin in the Collector Hogwarts Express is not at all screen accurate BUT it looks amazing and it’s a nice variant so I’ll take it. 4) Modularity: This one is slowly rising up on my list. With less space in my house I’m now focusing on sets that can be paired together on the same shelf and have a cohesive theme. 5) Play features: At the end of the day Lego is a toy and it should be great for play as well. Do I personally play with my sets? Not really but it’s a nice bonus that can add some points. For example the moon in the Shrieking Shack is ultra cool imo. Cool bonus if it’s well integrated in a set but not essential at all. 6) Interesting parts: Not a Moc builder, I’m really a Lego purist at heart. I do kinda get hyped when I see an older piece that’s like 20 years old get used in a new and creative way. Part usage is neat but again not essential.

I’m not an advent calendar guy, the only one I got was the Yule Ball one for the twins and Cho Chang. But this with these new variants, I’m totally going to pick it up. They look so good and finally getting Aberforth is dope too.
-
I mean exabrickslegogo reposted it too so I think there’s some validity to it. But yeah this is just another set I can save money on which is fine by me.
-
I’m 100% fine with Lego releasing more big sets. Personally I’ve never been the collecting type (HP from 2018-2020 being the exception), I just buy the sets that I personally want and can afford. So if they want to get their toes wet and start resurrecting more defunct themes like Indiana Jones and LOTR, power to them and to those who can afford it. Just because I can’t afford everything doesn’t mean I should be holding anyone back who can. I’ll just buy what I can, I really don’t need everything. The only real problem for me is going to be this year with the overlap of Indiana Jones and HP. But I’m not too worried because I have $300 in store credit (thank you Hogwarts Express 5x VIP Points) so I’ll basically be getting the Indiana Jones wave for free so just my usual year, buy every system scale HP set except Hogwarts and the Fall Star Wars D2C. And after this year with Gringott’s, Second Task, and Durmstrang Ship, I feel like my HP collection would be complete and I’ll just focus on Indiana Jones.

I think it’s real but someone tried taking a panorama type shot and kinda botched it. But I’m really liking what I see here.
