  1. Putting it in the signature is a great idea. Thanks Exetrius. Yes I as I said above, I might have been a tad exuberant, but I've taken some pills for that and it shouldn't happen again. I have a major update planned for my LEGO Ideas project which will radically change how the inside is built and looks, so I can't really stop working on it just yet. After that, we'll see. I might retire from LEGO MOCing for a while... it's an expensive hobby. Oh btw Exetrius, I already support your awesome project - that's because I put my vote where my mouth is and support all the best Classic Space LEGO Ideas! ;)
  2. Yeah. I had a feeling I might’ve overstepped the bounds. But all I saw were people lamenting the loss of LEGO space sets and no matter how many times I tried to make them feel better by pointing out this potential option, they didn’t pick up on it. It was as though my posts were under some kind of cloaking device. I’ll try and calm down...
  3. Guys, I got tired of waiting for LEGO to do right by us so I submitted this: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/b0827dea-3bd0-46b2-a733-e2e380fa1794 maybe if enough vote for it, it could force LEGO’s hand?
  4. Guys, I want a new LEGO space theme as much as the mad about sci-fi AFOL (because I’m one of them!), but we might have to resign ourselves to the fact LEGO won’t fill that need. But as a firm believer of that saying in that animated movie Robots, “see a need, fill a need!” So…behold, Planetary Outpost! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/b0827dea-3bd0-46b2-a733-e2e380fa1794 Why don’t we show LEGO a thing or two by getting this project to 10,000 so they’d have to seriously consider reviving their home grown sci-fi lines? Let’s to it for all those sci-fi fans out there who believe there’s more to the genre than Star Wars! :)
  5. Thanks! I hadn't realised how hard it is to get people to your project and actually vote for it! And since I haven't got 10,000 mates, I'm languishing in the low 200s - for now (I'm an optimist! rofl) Thankfully, I'm doing this for fun, and it's teaching me about LEGO design too (currently working on a major update which will alter the interiors of each of the 5 configurations using totally different building techniques).
  6. Don't cry Spock. Vote for this and all your wishes will come true (well, if 10,000 of you do, and LEGO agree to turn it into an actual set!) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/b0827dea-3bd0-46b2-a733-e2e380fa1794
  7. I agree that many official LEGO designers like Classic Space. I’ve spoken to a handful and they do state that. So the lack of any new space sets may be a company decision that is beyond them. They could be in the same boat as us :(
  8. Less Moments in Space More Moment Distracting Your Child at the Mall While you Shop I actually like the design, but I totally agree, it doesn't fulfil the brief.
  9. Ouch! But it certainly feels that way. It's a nice built set, but it's definitely *not* a "moment in space"... they gave us the exo suit a few years back and we all got so excited!...
  10. well, you do know LEGO being into kid toys, cute plays a big part in their business, right? lol
  11. No, I was referring to third party licences have the monopoly on sci-fi and LEGO's own yellow-faced space exploration has been mothballed.
  12. Agreed. There were lots of great sets and my favourite was even in the runner ups (the big fat round rocket). I guess this shows that yellow minifigs need not apply for sci-fi space adventures (officially, that is) ?
  13. My feeling exactly! (which is why I submitted a proposal to LEGO Ideas... (shameless plug ?)
  14. Star Wars is huge, but what about Ninjago or Elves? Those are unique LEGO properties which coexist quite well even though I'm sure they must be small than LEGO Star Wars. I'm just getting tired of Star Wars Star Wars everywhere Star Wars. There's more to sci-fi than Star Wars, even if it's undoubtably smaller than Star Wars If I remember correctly, one of the conditions of the contest what no recognisable items, ie, no NASA, and no other existing or past spaceship, probe, station, etc. So it inevitably brought our the Classic Space freaks (of which I am a very proud member! ?)
  15. "True castle theme eh? You could be waiting as long as the space theme fans!" I take it from that statement that there will be no castle or space theme from LEGO for a good long while - if ever. I had hoped that the 40th anniversary would've prompted LEGO to revive those themes, if only one or two sets to satisfy this niche. Just looking at the Moments in Space competition which got over 1,000 entries just shows how much of an appetite there is for LEGO Space beyond Star Wars. Starting to wonder if there's a clause in the SW contract which prohibits LEGO from doing other space related sets. :( Guess I'll have to satisfy myself with my own Classic Space MOC (which I submitted to LEGO Ideas...)
  16. It has crossed my mind that a secret vote makes it easier ininflate some scores in order to select the 25 entries of your preference. Who is to know? but even though I designed an entry myself, I don’t mind as long as we end up with an awesome model. ?
  17. My understanding is that they'll release all that information once they announce the winners
  18. very original. I like it ?
  19. full Lepin. ROFL and yes, it's as transparent as a block of concrete XD
  20. Cool well be. But since the whole process is secret, there's no way to know. It could also be because one of the moderators dropped a slice of pizza on his keyboard and accidentally hit the delete key multiple times trying to clean up the mess.
  21. I know someone whose entry was initially rejected simply for mentioning Arthur C Clarke, even though his entry had nothing to do with his work, so I think that was a good call. And it seems the moderators are still at work removing entries: we're now down to 1,052 (from 1,065 IIRC). Probably due to a fair number of them being NASA references, which, as has been correctly pointed out, is against these particular rules.
  22. Since everybody and their brick-built dog is showcasing their project, I thought I might as well do the same ? it’s the inside of a starship bridge. It’s designed so the roof, front back and sides can be removed in any combination to allow access. https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/1b817aba-3990-4e6d-a17f-7a59a948d02f/application/62076792-5632-4668-bf2a-be41bbad58b5
  23. It was a lot of fun to do! I look forward to discussing it with others ?
  24. Hi axaday LOL, you can check out one of the updates where I talk about how I got inspired to design those uniforms ;) Or read it from my blog (that way I don't have to link to the LEGO Ideas pages more than once which is against the community rules :) -> https://captainmutantblog.wordpress.com/2017/10/22/uniform-inspirations/
