Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion
Mitch Henry replied to MakutaOfWar's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Surprised this topic is still going. My biggest gripe with CCBS is the armor add-ons for the shells. There are so few designs period and few colors that I find useful, and the star wars figs often include one solid color, or two printed pieces (or one of each). Overall, the system is wonderful, and I love both of them equally. Though I do think that CCBS works a little better with system texturally. For the sake of consistency, let's call both Technic/Bionicle and CCBS large figures. Of all the large figure series, what are your thoughts on the Ben 10 sets? Personally, I love them. There's a healthy balance of smooth textures and sturdy sockets. the exclusive heads are pretty useless but a lot of the exclusive parts are fun to use and see on MOCs. In retrospect, I'd call the Ben 10 sets the best of the large figures series, if only because they work so well with all the other large figure series'. -

I've had one friction exstension break on me. I got some red shadow matoran claw feet at bfva and both cracked as soon I put a balljoint in the sockets. 10/10 -
I got to see her at bfva. I almost said something about it but decided not to. I must say she really captured me. such an odd design but so full of life. Really great job here.

This might sound sarcastic, but the smallest limb possible would be a balljoint with a micro balljoint. This moc uses the smallest limbs I've ever made and has more range than balljoint and micro balljoint.

Why not just build on a larger scale?

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Mitch Henry replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
K2SO is great but I'd love to get C3PO, a Battle Droid, Pit Droid, or Super Battle Droid. The humanoid droids would be a great start, and maybe Lego could move onto Droidekas, Halfires, and Astromechs to really stretch ccbs. I was lucky enough to find ekimu and skull grinder for the price of a protector, but other than that set I have no g2 sets. I didn't even know about g2 until early 2016. I love the recolors and masks though. I've BL'd some pieces but nothing fancy. -
I've seen Logan McOwen use an upside-down small hf torso to good effect. I hope these help.

RIP ccbs it had no cool bikes. I have to agree here, CCBS has almost always made humanoid builds with little variety. hf and 2016 bionicle mixed it up but not to a crazy extent. I'd argue that g2 bionicle didn't mix up designs quite like g1 bionicle, but hf certainly did with its villains. Despite all that I don't think it makes ccbs > technic. At the end of the day, it always comes down to personal preference and the kind of moc you intend to make. -

I didn't take them, but I forgot that I wasn't supposed to post them. Whoops. Also, I don't how I forgot that we got K2SO, seeing as I have 2 of him. He's an absolute goldmine for pieces. We need more sets like him. -

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors

New Darth Vader, proportionally, looks so much better than the first ccbs Vader. the first was a goldmine of parts but he lasted less than a day. The new Vader looks like he'll look great on a shelf. And that head with a removable helmet. Ooh baby. Maul, from what I can see looks too basic to be worth purchase. He'd better have some really good new pieces or at least recolors of old pieces to be worth buying imo. Same goes for Boba Fett. He's got some nice colors but other than that not worth it. Finally, I'd like to see some Droid ccbs sets. Its incredible we haven't gotten a droid yet. Not even a c3po. -
quite frankly I don't remember which poses are Sophitia or Cassandra's. You made my self-moc back on mocpages. Cheesy Q.

Thank you. I've worked harder on this moc than any other.

New year, new Zeren! and this time he's... Red? yeah thats new. It was certainly not where I saw this MOC going when I set out to update him. Speaking of updates, while some might be obvious theres plenty that aren't, so I'd like to go down the list of changes since the last version way back in June of 2016. Incoming giant wall of text. -yellow legs -new waist/hips build -new custom feet -modified torso -red armor -reduced gold -rifle can be stored on his back -minor changes to pistol colors -stud-less/smoother armor -proper color layering -"fingerless" gloves -translucent pieces -visor details -increased grated pieces Full album on Flickr!

Sharp eyes! I figured you'd be able to figure them out. How's it going Zork, haven't talked to you for a while it seems.

I hadn't given this MOC much more thought since I first posted it. I've since changed the mask to a Modalt painted Rau, but other than that it's about the same. I'll definitely look into it though. Maybe some kind of pet or cloak to complete that fantasy look. thanks

Personally, the whole Technic ≠ CCBS for mocing just comes down to preference. Do you like the clean simple approach of ccbs or the technical, mechanical approach of technic. Now if you're talking about piece count and price and other related stuff, then Idk. -
Ah, the entry to the bio-cup. Fantastic as always, but Poor Disadvantaged really knocked it out of the park with his Mayan sacrificial scene.

I've had this MOC together for some time now, but I just made a eurobricks account. I hope I did this right. Miua was created to be something of a self-MOC for my girlfriend. She never grew up with Bionicle like I did, but I thought she may like the rich lore. She's not crazy about it, but she's not disinterested, in fact she encourages me to continue MOCing, which is nice. And even though she's not as captivated by MOCing and Bionicle as I am, I wanted to include her in some way, and Miua (MYU-ah) was born! I made sure to have her input on every step of the process, just to make sure she'd like it. Blue was picked because it was her favorite color, and I had a blue Rau. She didn't really like the Rau until I told her the power it grants the user, as she loves languages of any kind. In fact, Miua got her name from a combination of Mizu and Agua, the words for water from Japanese and Spanish respectively. Another of her interests is fantasy of all kinds. Hence the sword and daggers. Unless I giver her some kind of crossbow in the future I don't plan on giving her any weapon that fires. I like this as it represents both her interests and provides a clear contrast to Zeren, a MOC designed around sci-fi soldier characters and firearms. Anybody who plays Soulcalibur may recognize some of these poses, as many of them were ripped right from some of the characters. Full Album available here

I highly doubt Lego will do any kind of reboot. Bionicle g2 didn't last long, and Lego won't market nostalgia to a demographic that mostly gave up on lego a long time ago.

Hello everyone. My name is Mitch Henry. I don't expect to be posting much but I'd like to stay in touch with some people from my earlier MOCing days. You can check my stuff out on Flickr if you like Bonkle though.
