  1. Finally had some time to watch the full video - amazing stuff! The pictures alone do not do this build justice, seeing it "in motion" adds so much. And having @CapOnBOBS talking with such enthusiasm... good times!
  2. Punto Sur Quayside, licensed as a small commerce property: Otto Grim, Barrel Maker, licensed as a small factory property:
  3. First of all: great to see you - and the Count - back in action again! This build is really well done overall, as is the presentation. I think you have improved a lot over the years, and it shows. Well done! Oddly enough, I am somewhat let down by the writing this time around. To me it lacks the usual "Mesabi spirit", for a lack of better words. This is not a big deal, just... unexpected. Either way, very much looking forward to your next builds and stories already!
  4. How is that not easily done as a fortress build? I am unsure if it fits the Royal size, but it is at least a Large one without a doubt.
  5. Brilliant build! The hull shaping is excellent, and the rigging made with Lego parts is looking great too. Well done!
  6. Great introduction of a character - welcome! The snotted rocks are looking nice, and the tree in particular caught my eye. Well done!
  7. I was not aware there were creepy sea monsters around near Spudkirk - interesting! Cute little scene, with some cool story potential for the future, well done.
  8. I want to do literally the same idea for a mining build near Stormhaven, in those mangrove forests. Nicely done!
  9. Honestly, as easy as that upside-dpwn-leaves trees are done - it is pretty ingenious. Cool stuff! The one tiny thing that is off to me are the "drawn pistols on the parade" look of the front officers. This just feels wrong to me, even if all the rest is looking great!
  10. Great idea, sounds like fun.
  11. Nice! Some WTC office building, nothing special. When has anybody ever regretted working with the WTC?
  12. Is this "leadership Thaum" or "personal opinion Thaum" speaking? I was asking because there were no statements regarding the license use this time, contrary to previous years. Last year specified the New Haven Sea region for example - so no single settlement either. There are no strong opinions of mine either way, I just like it to be clear. Also: does @Capt Wolf (or anybody else from the Eslandola faction) have anything against a WTC presence in Punto Sur?
  13. Are the prize licenses restricted to be used in Punto Sur, or can they be used anywhere? And my sincere thanks to @Capt Wolf for running this iconic minichallenge once again. I hope it continues, despite the small attendance this year.
  14. I have some questions regarding the price/license, I guess @Ross Fisher is best suited to make the call(s). Is the free license for a "normal" build or for a micro build? Does the prize license count as one like mentioned in the licensing rules under point #5? Would you (or Oleon in general) have anything against an official WTC representation in Nola Mar? I was thinking "some sort of WTC office" as a medium commerce property. Maybe @Ayrlego and/or @Bregir can also help with this, in particular the second question. Thanks in advance to all of you!
  15. Hmm, I love the smell of burned pirates in the morning...
  16. Damn, everybody is finding gold but poor ol' Jack. Nice find! Working on the copper mine these days, so apparently Quinnsville will get a small mining industry soon.
  17. Great to see this up just in time for the mini-challenge! Loving the build, your attention to detail is impressive. The balcony is wonderful, and that lamp design is just inspired! If I could change one thing, it would be the "overhang" of some of the minifigs on the street. It just looks a bit off to me. Still a great scene overall, full of character and life. Well done!
  18. The brickwork in the cottage is a thing of beauty. The vegetation is done well too, the mushrooms add a lot. Well done! P.S.: Great to see you back building!
  19. Punto Sur Elementary School, licensed as a small education property.
  20. Thanks a lot! No horsemeat shenanigans in this story!
  21. It is done. See this "main thread" first, then check the follow-ups for the individual entries: "Otto Grim, Barrel Maker" for the "factory" category "Punto Sur Quayside" for the "commerce" category "Punto Sur Elementary School" for the "all other property types" category If this leads to any confusion: please just ask. P.S. for @Capt Wolf: All three builds will be licensed by me over time (the school already is). I will post each in the Punto Sur settlement thread when its respective license is done. Instead of paying me back the licensing fee, I would prefer those "free licenses" to be given to somebody else - preferably new players.
  22. This thread builds on the story in my "main '22 Oktoberfest thread" and features my entry for the "commerce" category for the 2022 Oktoberfest mini-challenge. The build is licensed as a small commerce property in Punto Sur. There is no more story for this one, just additional pictures of the build on its own: As always, comments and criticism are welcome!
  23. It was close to three in the afternoon - school was almost out! The youngsters were eager to get to the Oktoberfest, grabbing some food, having some fun. Yet Mrs. Litherthon, teacher of Punto Surs elementary school, had some things to do before letting the kids go today. "Alright, we are almost done for today. Jonathan, I can already see your parents waiting in front of the school. If everybody would now please hand in their assignment from last week. You remember: two pages on a local animal of your choice. I will collect the papers now." "Matthew, what is it? Oh I can not believe it! You forgot your homework again? Well, I guess this means some overtime for the two of us, you will write your two pages now. For everybody else: I wish you a good day, have fun and take care!" ================================================================ This thread builds on the story in my "main '22 Oktoberfest thread" and features my entry for the "all other property types" category for the 2022 Oktoberfest mini-challenge. The build is licensed as a small education property in Punto Sur. Some more pictures: As always, comments and criticism are welcome!
  24. Otto Grim was a barrel-maker in the third generation. He took great pride in his work, so when he had to witness some kerfuffle around a broken barrel, he came into his home and factory quite a bit agitated. "Son, listen. I just had to watch some shabby foreign barrel break and spill good beer. If only they had used some of my barrels!" "I have not yet told you everything you need to know to take over one day. You better do a good job, or somebody else might take over around here. But not today! You see, each barrel needs love - and love is given by the hammer! So now help your old man with this one..." ================================================================ This thread builds on the story in my "main '22 Oktoberfest thread" and features my entry for the "factory" category for the 2022 Oktoberfest mini-challenge. The build is licensed as a small factory property in Punto Sur. Some more pictures: Only now while posting did I notice the front roof had slipped a bit between shots. The other thread has it "correct": As always, comments and criticism are welcome!
  25. Another year, another Oktoberfest! There is lots of hustle and bustle on the quayside of Punto Sur - not all of it going as planned. For some, things go well, with tasty sausage-in-a-bun... ... while for some the spilled beer comes not from their glas, but from a broken barrel! Behind the poor soul feeding the harbour fish with some Oktoberfest beer comes along Otto Grim on his way to his small barrel-maker factory. Quiet in disbelief of the scene he mutters to himself: "Shoddy foreigners work for sure! None of this would have happened with any of the fine barrels of mine. All that wasted beer, a shame!" In front of the Elementary School two other locals were oblivious to the commotion, obviously already thinking of another upcoming festivity. Happy Halloween! Some old sault - wearing his finest classical hat - watched them with mild irritation, not at all impressed by these newfangled customs: None of this mattered to the other workers on the pier, who just hoped that not all beer was out once they had finished their job: ================================================================ This thread, as well as its follow-ups (see below) are my entries for the 2022 Oktoberfest mini-challenge. First two more pictures of the scene in its entirety: This display splits up into three seperate build. They all share a common story, but not everything is shown here - so check them out: Otto Grim, Barrel Maker Punto Sur Elementary School Punto Sur Quayside They all feature design elements I associate with the classic Lego Pirates from the 1990s, namely the use of white, yellow and red on grey underground - as seen with the Imperial Trading Post: The mix of classic Lego Pirates with newer minifigs is also intentional, to go with the mini-challenge theme. The three follow-up threads are meant for the ease of licensing. There you can also see more details of the build(s). As always, comments and criticism are welcome!
