  1. I cannot confirm the durability over multiple years, but this model isn't RC so the gears experience much less load /cycles over the same period of time. I never had issues personally. Everything should easily work as before after a month on the shelf. For anyone planning to buy or build the RS6, I consider giving this review a watch, which also contains some building tips.   2. The earlier prototype was made with lego pieces, before CaDa changed to their current segmented panel and frame designs. These were eventually retrofitted onto the car, although at that stage the car still wasn't entirely finished. I still adjusted the door design and made several chassis improvements. I dont't think it compromised anything on the car in the end. Brand new custom CaDa panels however came too late so you could argue that the design would've looked different if I'd start from scratch now. At the end of the day the final CaDa version is more sophisticated in design (as it should be of course) on pretty much every front, though the observable differences are subtle. Quality is good and they are meshing well. I don't recommend swapping them. Not worth the effort.
  3. I didn't visit their HQ in person, but I did meet them in person at the Nürnberg Toy Fair this year and had some online exchanges as well. They provided feedback and had to approve the build, colour choice, instructions etc. It was similar approval process to the AMG's.
  4. Audi RS6 Avant C8 Hey everyone, though I’ve shared this read already a few months back in the main CaDa topic, the mods have kindly allowed me to create a separate topic to discuss the set. So allow me to present it one more time in more detail, this time including a proper photo shoot and some more details about the set itself. The Audi RS6 is arguably one most iconic cars the famous German manufacturer has ever produced. The combination of practicality and supercar-like performance make it a dream daily driver for many enthusiasts. Because of its popularity in the real world, I felt there would be an equal interest in the brick community to see a replica of the RS6 built in large scale. The project started in early 2022 in agreement with CaDa and supported by Audi as an official licencing partner. It took roughly 18 months to complete the main design, with plenty of creative breaks in between. The design objective being finding a good balance between the chassis and bodywork. Furthermore, I increased my efforts to improve the building experience, making it a bit more accessible and less punishing. But don’t worry, you can still expect a nice challenge! Specs: - Part Count: 4663 - Dimensions: 60.3 x 25.9 x 16.8 cm - Custom 5-V-Spoke Rims and Continental Tires Features: - All wheel drive (Quattro) with three differentials - V8 engine + rotating cooling fans - Steering with HOG - Independent suspension - Adjustable ride height - 8 Speed sequential gearbox, operated from the trunk - Adjustable front seats - Openable doors, trunk and spring loaded hood As is usual with my builds, I refrain from lazy ‘recycling’ of existing mechanisms and always try to be innovative wherever I can. Doesn’t mean I’m always trying to reinvent the wheel, but just trying to be creative and finding unique solutions that make the build more interesting and overall appealing. That being said, replicating the RS6 posed many interesting challenges along the way. Its mechanical platform is very different compared to the typical supercars we often see. The engine is located in the front and the interior occupies much more volume, leaving much less space around the rear axle to integrate mechanisms. Bodywork Another challenge was to faithfully replicate the bodywork, which does not have as many extreme shapes; it looks more like a ‘normal’ car. Meaning it’s even more important to follow the more subtle lines and shapes for the model to be recognizable, which at times can be just as challenging as replicating more exotic bodywork. Getting curvature in the doors meant I couldn’t use a simple pivot with a vertical axle for all four doors as it would disrupt the shape and break the overall flow. Instead, the doors open through a 4-bar linkage which simultaneously puts a realistic limit on the opening angle. Gearbox: As pointed out already, wrapping a gearbox around the rear axle requires a unique layout. I opted for a rather flat and long lay-out of the gearbox, which stretches from below the rear seats all the way to the back of the car. 8 speeds are obtained in the conventional way, by combining a 4 speed and 2 speed gearbox. However, the shifting scheme is very different. The 4-speed gearbox with its integrated centre differential has very large gear ratio gaps, so instead of scaling these ratios going from gear 4 to 5, the 2-speed gearbox is used to fill these ratio gaps. Consequently, the 2-speed gearbox shifts during every gearshift, whilst the 4-speed gearbox shifts every second gearshift. The shifter, which I also designed from scratch, is located on top of the whole structure, making it very accessible and easy operate though the trunk. The build: When you begin the build, you’ll follow a rough order similar to the design process. You’ll start by assembling the chassis, joining the rear axle, front axle, and central column to create the car’s “spine.” This is also where you can customize the rake of the car by adjusting the relative height between the front and rear suspension. The side structures are added next, followed by final reinforcements and small details. The roof connects realistically to the chassis with replicated A, B, C, and D pillars. Then you’ll move on to the bodywork, adding small subassemblies as the car gradually takes shape. In the final stage, you’ll install the large movable parts: the bonnet, trunk, and doors - and with that, the car is complete! Carbon package (coming soon) Together with CaDa we are also planning to release a separate add-on-purchase accessory package, enabling the builder to switch to the ‘carbon package’. This includes a bunch of black pieces that can be used to substitute the silver/light grey parts on the exterior, enabling the builder to customize the RS6 further. We expect to launch this add-on set in Oktober. All in all, I think the car won’t fail to deliver a unique building experience and as a final product will definitely stand out on your shelf next to all those supercars.   5. I am indifferent between option 2 and 3. As a MOC designer who designs models for the CaDa Master's series, it is important to me that we can discuss these products in a similar manner to Lego sets and MOCs here: discussing exisitng and upcoming sets, reviews, sharing modifications of sets etc. Moreover, I see EB as a source of reliable information, in contrast to other forms of social media. Demand for these sets is growing fast, particularly since the collaboration with renowned manufactures like Mercedes AMG and Audi as licensing parners. The single CaDa thread we currently have in the Technic forum is becoming a bit chaotic already and I personally think these sets deserve their own topic as they have strong engagement and it would allow for a better overview, particularly for recent and prospective members. I respect the purist's perspective as well, and therefore see option 2 and 3 as the best of both worlds. This way IMO, alternative brands can easily coexist without intervening with those who like to stay away from it.
  6. The RS6 will release on August 15th, so preordering a set from a retailer that will only have the set 2 months after launch seems kind of pointless.
  7. My LaFerrari/viva Hypercar is still being produced, but they had to remove it from their own website after a threat from Ferrari's lawyers. So sets being removed from CaDa's website doesn't necessarily mean they are out of production. That being said, the factory currently can't keep up with current demand so it could be that they had to prioritize some sets over others. Expansion is on the horizon.
  8. Yes, a more spacious trunk would have been nice indeed. That is exactly my reasoning at the time as well when dealing with this part of the design, and your conclusions match the ones I had at the time. Those who don’t care about a gearbox can always easily remove it. The conversion the other way around is much harder. There are no parts specifically designed for this car. In fact the first prototype of the car also had to undergo a conversion, switching to CaDa’s adjusted panel system. The final car uses some parts exclusive to CaDa but a conversion back to Lego is always possible with a bit of puzzling and creativity. Thank you for sharing your thoughts @kbalage! I agree with your perspective, and this is also exactly the direction in which we are trying to go. CaDa has been moving forward in this regard, but this model has been finished for about 2.5 years now. That is also why the model is not equipped with the most recent parts in the catalogue. The mindset was different back then, and even more at the start of the project more than 4 years ago. Meanwhile, especially @efferman and @brunojj1 have contributed greatly to designing new parts: a new concave panel system, shock absorbers that can be adjusted in stiffness, custom gears, and a bunch of more versatile connector pieces. CaDa's R&D team themselves also try to expand their custom pieces inventory, if you take a closer look at their most recent releases. Ultimately, we don’t want to create too many single purpose parts either, and the overall system formula is successful as it is. The next releases should unveil more of these parts.

The model is currently also on display at the Shenzhen Toy fair, built with real bricks, so hopefully the people present there can share more. Though an official release date of the set is not confirmed right now, sales are expected to start this summer.   11. Wonderful model! I love the chassis mostly, great mix of unique features and I appreciate the way you presentated it with the renders! I personally prefer the model in lime green, because I the mudguard panels appear more appropriately scaled. Thanks for sharing
  12. It is definitely possible, as the original design was made with official lego parts, see my original post. Afterwards many people have succeeded in building it with original parts as well. It should be fairly straight forward, because the CaDa set was essentially retrofitted with their panel versions.
  13. Just to confirm and avoid any misinformation, the Audi RS6 is my next design for the CaDa Master series. Unfortunately I cannot share more information about it at this stage and I was surpised to see this seemingly leaked image. The licencing has caused many delays, as with Bruno's AMG ONE back in the day, but hopefully I can share more details about the set later this year. Could very well be possible, emphasizing the 'eventually' though.
  14. @Tup4n Thank you for sharing the final work! The result is impressive, to say the least, and I am glad you could keep some of the original features. Not to mention the looks have not been affected much, as well as the interior - bravo! I hope the dynamic suspsension assists in stablizing the car through turns. In fact that was the main idea behind the mechanism, although I never imagined someone driving it around at speeds where it could ever make a difference. Cheers!

  17. It is neither Bruno's creation, nor mine. My upcoming model will be from a different German Brand. It is designed by a young Chinese guy working at CaDa. Bruno and I had the opportunity to see it in person during our trip to Shenzhen last year and it is really something to look forward too!
  18. I wouldn't worry too much about the catalogue. The are some other bigger releases lined up for 2025, including my next entry in the Master series. Absolutely! To give a bit more context: a brand new line up of concave panels has been developed. Sizes and profiles are similar to the ones in the convex panel set we've known for many years. In fact, many are concave counterparts to the original panels, e.g. the large panels resembling the front wing elemens on the new Sauber are the concave version of Lego's #5/6 panels. One can also spot a 2x2 transistion panel next to the headrest which can line up with both the convex and concave panels and is super versatile IMO. It will allow even better bodywork replication, particularly in exotic cars where convex surfaces appear frequently. Not all concave panels that have been developed so far appear in this set, but it should give a good idea about the system.

Surely you will have to redesign huge parts of the chassis and some parts of the bodywork. - Yes the weight is arround 3KGs, I am unable to give you an exact measurement at the moment. Parts count doesn't always scale proportionally with weight. I used quite a lot of small parts and don't forget that CaDa's panels and frames are composed of several sub-parts. - Yes, you can use Sian or bugatti rims Make sure to share the video here once the projected is completed!

  21. Great build Lox! I like the new direction in which your latest builds are going. I see greater panel density whilst ommiting the usage of small liftarms and connectors to replicate shapes. I must agree with the critics of some others here regarding the doors. I personally would have kept the door itself rectangular / 'legal', and rather inclined the whole door with respect to the chassis. This does impose a new challenge on the door hinge, but there are many ways to deal with that.
  22. Correct. I see no logic/patern in why some parts have active patents and some haven't. The vast majority of the parts is not protected. As far as I'm aware of, in the technic catagory only a list of panels, some frames, rotary catch and these parts: , , , , , . Yes, that is the plan.
  23. Thanks for the heads up Differences compared to the previous version: 1: Replacement of old curved panels by the new ones to comply with TLG's copyright. (notice the rounder panel edges on types #1/2, #3/4, #5/6, #13/14, #17/18, #21/22) 2: Replacement of several other pieces to comply with TLG's copyright, most notably: , 3: Minor structural improvements, only in areas where where it could be realised with minimal changes/extra parts. E.g. the rear pinhole in the mudguard panel is now connected to the subframe of the engine cover and the taillights are much better secured now. 4: Potentially improved parts quality. I cannot confirm this, but improving part quality is a continuous on-going process, not specifically for this set of course. Now that the CaDa's parts catalogue is fully compliant with TLG's copyright, us designers can safely work with all parts in their current catalogue (and help innovate new parts!) without unwanted surprises like was the case during development of this set. Hence, the quality of the sets will only continue to go up, exciting stuff to come!
  24. @BrickMonkeyMOCs Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and modifications - It is greatly appreciated! I fully agree with you and, of course, I am well aware of the mentioned flaws. I do want to elaborate on the sagging engine cover: In many cases, this occurs because of incorrect orientation of the tri-connector as illustrated here: I do recommend trying to re-establish the encircled connection below, which the R&D department removed. The red pin connector would clash with their new panels, which don't have the half-stud gap below the #13/14 panel. This will add some needed rigidity in the engine cover. A fix for this is included in my V3 as well, but I currently cannot provide a better illustration unfortunately.
  25. @head1004 The model was designed with the older shocks, because the new ones were not in production yet during the design phase. Moreover they are much harder to integrate properly due to their size, particularly in a model like this with complex suspension features. I haven't seen any mods yet with updated shock absorbers and will personally not invest anymore time on this finished project. @amorti You are aware the car in the link you sent is a totally different build of mine, in much smaller scale?
