Hey, those look great! I did a few builds along those lines myself, only mine used a 1987 parts palette and no custom prints. Maybe we could swap the Studio files of yours and mine by DM?

LEGO Creator 2021 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
icm replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd say the reason is that Space Shuttle is by far the most toyetic of real crewed spacecraft. There's the cockpit, the cargo bay with opening doors, satellite, robot arm, it's got wings and wheels where you can add flaps or retractable landing gear, then there's the shuttle stack to put together. Plus it's easy to build with wedge plates and relatively simple bricks and slopes. Capsules and rockets need cylinders and cones, which are really hard to build with Legos, they don't have a preferred orientation for swooshing that's nearly as distinctive as that of something with wings and wheels, and their play pattern of assembling and separating the stages during launch is already present in the shuttle stack. I'd love to see more spacecraft represented in Lego, but it's easy for me to imagine why they keep returning to the Space Shuttle. -

Last month Zusammengebaut posted a prank article saying that the summer City sets included a subway train. I fell for the prank just long enough to post about it excitedly on Eurobricks. As soon as I realized my mistake I apologized and edited my posts to make it clear that the set list was false. -

It was actually Zusammengebaut, not Brickset. -

Just to be clear, I wasn't the one pulling the prank. -
The Bounty looks ok. It's definitely a Bounty ... in white, with a different roof and some different decoration. Doesn't really look like a submarine in nearly the way the Land Bounty looked the part of a "land ship." I'm glad to know it's an easy pass now. I still need to get the Land Bounty, that was amazing.

After all the doom and gloom in this thread, those look ... shrug, not too bad, but not nearly as great as the 2018/19/20 Harry Potter releases. I was thinking of getting the Forbidden Corridor remake, but pending better pictures I think I'll take it off my wanted list. I have plenty of sets from the last two years to catch up on anyway.

10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery Discussion

Hmm ... prices keep going up, don't they? Size and detail goes up too, so that's good, but at the expense of affordability. Having set myself the precedent of buying Barracuda Bay at $200 I decided that a $200 Space Shuttle was a must-buy, but I'm not so sure about one at $270. When you first start buying Legos as a single adult with a job and a decent amount of disposable income, it's fantastic - you really had to pick and choose what sets you were going to buy when you were a kid, because you didn't have any money and you couldn't possibly afford them all, but now you can buy them all! But then you start wanting so much more Lego than you ever wanted as a kid, and then you have to pick and choose again!- 310 replies

LEGO Creator 2021 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
icm replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
@Former Itaria No Shintaku What I'm most curious about with the space shuttle, based on the piece count, is whether it's a City-sized minifig-scale shuttle Orbiter like set 31066 from 2017 but larger and more detailed, or a midi-scale shuttle Orbiter like set 31091 from 2019 but with the external tank and boosters to complete the Stack, or a Town-sized minifig-scale shuttle Stack like the one in set 6339 from 1995. Based on the rumored parts count of about 480 and price of $50 USD, I can imagine any one of those options. Or is it something completely different? -

Is it a September release then? Promobricks just says "summer" and lists the Creator space shuttle as June. Any pictures of that? -

This question is getting a little off-topic for City 2021, but did the retailer catalog also have a picture of the 3-in-1 castle? (Mods, please move this post and any replies to the Creator thread if you want. Thanks.) -
Mainly because the usual method of sharing photos on this forum is a link to Flickr or Instagram. A Google Drive share is a little riskier.

The Mountain of Flowers and Fruit looks brilliant. I hope I can afford it! The Spider Queen's Arachnoid Base looks a lot better than I expected. I just can't remember the Spider Queen's role in Journey to the West - she never struck me as one of the more memorable villains. The White Horse Jet is such a SPACESHIP!!!! that I just might have to get it. Unlike the first wave, this wave has a good selection of smaller sets.

@danth, I think @Man with beard is referring to the 2009 and 2015 Pirates lines and the 2013 Castle line, not to the 2020 combo of the 3-in-1 Pirate Ship and Barracuda Bay. I agree with you that that combo is a pair of successful standalone sets, not a "short-lived reboot."

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

On the bright side, Shop at Home lists 75302 at $70 USD when it was previously rumored to be at $80. I don't mind 660 parts in a spaceship of that size for $70, but $80 would have been a stretch. -
Yep, that's how I've thought of it for a long time. Classic Bionicle is 2001-2003, but especially 2001 when it still had the Technic label. 2004 was ok too, but I completely lost interest in 2005 when the canister sets lost their gear functions and masks as distinct from heads. I see my very limited interest in just the first couple years of Bionicle as closely analogous to my primary interest in just the first couple years of Space.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion

No. No subway. The entire article was a joke by Zusammengebaut, and they admitted as such deep in the comments. I don't usually read the comments on Zusammengebaut, so I took the article at face value even though it seemed a little strange. I'm sorry for posting something false. It was entirely unintentional. Gosh darnit, the 27th of January is not the 1st of April! -

Edit, the joke's on me, apparently. It's not April 1, and Zusammengebaut is usually a trustworthy source. Sorry about that. -
Rats, that's why I need to learn foreign languages. It's not April 1 yet!

According to this morning's post on Zusammengebaut, there's going to be a Marvel tower with more than 4 floors. I dunno if I read that correctly, I'm just relying on Google Translate. https://zusammengebaut.com/live-ticker-keine-spielwarenmesse-2021-alle-lego-neuheiten-113557/ Edit, the joke's on me, apparently.
