playmobil project - books shop
WesternOutlaw replied to medieval_total_lego's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
As a fan of Playmobil, I really like your LEGO versions of these classic sets MTL. This has a look that reminds me of the Blacksmith Shop. I love those arched doors! Nice clean design, with some fine details (like the little green sign with Forestman hat - nice touch). Front-paged! -
Fans of Playmobil might recognize this LEGO Castle creation by Medieval_total_lego (MTL). As part of his Playmobil Conversion Project, MTL builds a LEGO version of the Traveller Inn. Shared in the History Forum, make sure you stop inn.

Snakes! Why did it have to be Snakes?
WesternOutlaw replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Clever little game ISC. This looks like it would be fun to play. -
Your town is progressing nicely.

I thought we had a new train MOC for a minute. It's a nice little mini nonetheless.

Thanks all for your positive feedback. Here's a revised image of the entire church: Alternate image with different background:

Nice review WF. I picked up one of these little bad boys a few weeks ago, but I haven't opened yet (being in City mode right now). I like these little "stocking stuffer" sets and overall, it has a neat little design. I like the fact that your review pictures the set with the AquaRaiders vehicle for comparison. Thanks for sharing!

Nice job TC, and welcome to EB! Simple little vehicle, but you've done a great job at creating in LEGO. Good color combination and I like that slanted front cab, just like your inspiration image. This would make a good LEGO City add-on. NOTE: please be aware that our max image size is 800x600 next time you post though - thanks. Front-paged!

While parking is always free inside the Town Forum, that doesn't stop new EB member TerranCmdr from creating an additional revenue stream for his Tabletown. Town and City fans might appreciate his three-wheel LEGO Meter Maid:

I Scream Clone seems to have ventured outside the realm of Wild West to create this LEGO Castle masterpiece he calls, Strange Bedfellows. You can check out the amazingly detailed creation in the History Forum.

I built my GE over the weekend, and must say that it is a very nice model. I love the dark green windows partially covered by the arches. I also like the four horizontal dark tan tile assemblies, although the two front walls aren't that sturdy (did any of you have this issue). Overall, I found the build to the GE fairly easy, and I'm sure it took me less time than any of the other modulars (I think even the Fire Brigade). I do agree with the comments that the floors are a bit empty. I think the toy department could have benefited from a few more toys, like those contained in the Winter Toy Shop (that gives me an idea). I love the chandelier, and surprisingly, it wasn't at all tricky to build. Another con is the back door with the arches - sort of a strange design. Overall, it's still a fantastic set, and I would highly recommend it to any City fan. Here's a shot in my Train Town: (still working on the layout)

Very nice Gcar. I especially like the tender. The slope design looks very good. Interesting window design on the engine; it works well. You did an equally nice job on the boiler. I've been looking at Goat Switchers recently, which this reminds me of, although larger. Overall, an impressive MOC.

Very nice CBF. I like the simple color scheme, reminding me of LEGO's Hobby Train Swiss Crocodile loco. Nice front end and the black radar dishes on the roof are a nice touch. In fact, the front end looks a lot like that of the Super Chief. My only recommendation is adding a bit to the undercarriage and the wheel trucks, as AgentRick suggests. I see that you're waiting for parts. Are you planning to build some cars to go with it? Front-paged!

A new engine just pulled into the Train Tech forum. Utilizing an RC motor and MLCAD for its design, CBFasi creates an impressive LEGO 7-stud wide Santa Fe Diesel Locomotive:

Welcome TLTF. Glad you decided to join EB and Train Tech.

Thank you all for the feedback. I appreciate the comments. I was trying for a "gold look" with yellow. I do have grey and black, but thought the yellow was a nice touch of color. Really? I really like the arched door and thought it blended in nicely.

Not many LEGO fans may remember the Spiderman theme, and even fewer LEGO Train fans may recall 4855 Spider-Man's Train Rescue. In fact, I think we can call it "the forgotten train"; but today on Train Tech, I'm going to share a review of the Forest Hills city subway train. NOTE: I was very close to posting this review in the License Forum, but as it is a train, I'm going to share it here in Train Tech. Set Number: 4855 Set Name: Spider-Man's Train Rescue Year of Release: 2004 Pieces: 294 (according to box) Minifigs: 4 Price: $30 USD Extras: Two spiders, five spiderwebs, two road signs, slammer, and more In looking at the nice boxart on the front and back of the box, the backside actually provides an alternate model that offers train fans an idea for a building a hand car: For Spiderman fans, the back of the instructions show a few other Spidey sets: Here's a close-up of that alternate model as seen toward the end of the instruction book: In breaking out this set after a few years, I discovered the sticker sheet still intact within the instruction book: Minifigs include Spiderman, J. Jonah Jameson, Doc Ock, and after researching, the Train Conductor played by actor Tom Carey: Here's a close-up of Doc Ock with his mechanical tentacle arms: The set includes some useful accessories including a nicely printed Daily Bugle newspaper: The highlight of this set, at least in my opinion, is the subway train car: The front and rear sides have both yellow and red light bricks: The roof has three round printed grill tiles and easily lifts off the train car: Three red chairs allow figs to sit down; and I've always loved the 1x4 control tile with two moveable levers. The track assembly has six straight tracks, a slammer mechanism, and a few barriers: Slamming the mechanism causes the train to lunge forward on the track: The first barrier is two road signs (STOP sign stickers not attached). They are only attached to the track, with the other side placed on a 1x2 grey tile: At the end of the track is the web barrier with five spiderwebs and a white "Ninja-rope" for Spiderman swing play: Lastly, another view of the subway car on the track. It would look better with stickers: COMMENTS So, what do you think of this little train car and accessories? You don't have to be a Spiderman fan to appreciate a city subway car and track assembly. I may just create some custom decals, replace the small wheels with train wheels, add buffers, and see how this train car looks in my Train Town. I think the train car offers some nice train windows, 10 2x2 light grey, 2 2x4 light grey, 2 2x2 dark grey, and 4 2x3 dark grey, and I really like the rounded ends of the car. The additional pieces used to make the track assembly can certainly be used in one's city. Many of the Spiderman LEGO sets were on clearance in the U.S. I think I picked this set up for $12-$15 at the time. I felt that the value (on sale) was well worth the money, and it offers a train for adults, and some Spiderman fun for the kids. What are your thoughts?
-
Oh, I'm probably between limiting sets to one-two themes and purchasing only a few times a year (maybe one every few months). What hit me hard was waiting until three of the modulars were out before deciding I would start collecting them - ouch!

So you've got your eye on the Death Star, but you'd love to pick up that Imperial Flagship; but then again, the Grand Emporium would cap off your Modular City nicely. Limited financial resources? you don't say. I think all of us can certainly appreciate the woes of too many great LEGO sets to choose from. LEGO is loving it, but your pocket books and significant others are saying, "STOP"! How do you manage your LEGO budget? Are your credit cards maxed or are you borrowing from Peter to pay Paul? Brilliant! It looks amazing lit-up. Pink is an interesting color outcome, but I think it looks fantastic.

I just finished building the Grand Emporium and have added it to my Train Town as the latest addition. Excuse my double post, but I wanted to share a picture with the new modular: Unfortunately, I had to lose the Town Plan gas station to make room. I may work on changing the desert area since it's too small for my revised Mexican Church. If I only had more space. EDIT: (Gas pumps and Town Plan water fountain will be relocated soon)
