  1. Thanks for the comments all. I appreciating you taking the time to provide the positive feedback - and thanks again for the front-page Svelte. ABOUT the MOVIE This was an enjoyable build, especially after picking up the classic tin movie poster. I just purchased the DVD (Legacy collection) that includes two sequels to the 1954 movie (also in black and white). I think the original movie is a real classic, and what's interesting is that it was never remade unlike so many other Hollywood/Universal monster movies back in the day. I understand that there is a remake planned for 2011 and I'm looking forwarding to seeing it. ABOUT the MOC In regard to this creation, the only thing I was not able to include was a female minifig in a swimsuit which would have been a nice addition. I guess you can say that she was replaced with the monkey (budgeted production costs and all ). The 1x2 LEGO brick is the real treasure in the scene and comes from set 730 Steam Shovel, my oldest intact set. I thought I would place it near the chest as one additional treasure for the divers. It's among my personal favorite piece, although I must admit that I don't know how rare these printed bricks are. The "Lego Black Lagoon" wording on the base is a custom decal. ABOUT the LIGHT There is a classic LEGO light brick set at an angle to shine down on the monster (although hard to see in the picture). The light isn't that bright, but I think it is a neat feature. All pieces (including the raft) are stuck to the vignette making it possible to hold the creation upside down without any pieces falling off. Thanks again for the feedback and I may share a few more images if anyone would like to see them.
  2. It's a bird... it's a plane... it's a LEGO Justice League Metro Tower! With an almost cartoon-like appearance, expert builder BaronSat has created a headquarters for his LEGO Superfriends. Superman and Aquaman are just a few of the heroes among his LEGO DC Comic collection. You can check out his colorful creation within the EB LEGO Licensed Forum.
  3. Please resize your images - they're huge. 800x600 is the max per our site guidelines. I do look forward to viewing this review though.
  4. I love it! It's always neat to see these classic/vintage vehicles created in LEGO. I love the use of the brown wagon wheels adding to the old-time charm and elegance of the engine. You did a really nice job on the boiler and all the valves/mechanics which compliments the fine design of the vehicle. It's also neat to see the classic fireman torsos but with shiny new silver helmets. Those truly are outstanding torsos that could be used for so many things aside from fireman (but that's another topic). I must admit that I had considered creating a spooky Wild West version of an old-time fire engine along this line, but I don't think that I could have come up with a design as nice as this one. Great job! EDIT: oh, and it's clever to have tapped into the gold brick fountain for a good water source. Neat!
  5. Sérgio: very nice and I love the color, but please resize your images. Our site guidelines are 800x600 max. These are almost three times larger - much appreciated.
  6. Interesting interview Tim and Connor. It's always nice to hear ones' thoughts about the LEGO hobby. I can understand your "solo-building" style/perspective as I think I share the same practice. Over the years, I've really admired your work, especially your train creations. It's also neat to hear about your "Grey Age" and how SW brought you back. Thank you for your contribution to the LEGO community from your blogs on Brothers Brick as well as your FlickR groups which really have some great builders and creations. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Continuing my Creature from the Black Lagoon Collection, I present the Black Lagoon, a light-up vignette: (this time, creature included)
  8. Venture into the depths of the Action Themes Forum to uncover the mysteries of LEGO Aquazone. One of EB's most prominent Adventure reviewers, Z06, shares a brilliant review of LEGO 6190 Shark's Crystal Cave. Packed with printed parts and unique elements, if you are a fan of aquatic LEGO themes, make sure you take a further look at this set.
  9. Very nice review Z06. This is a theme that I completely missed, but it does have some really interesting aspects, especially contained in this set. That printed classic space baseplate is most unique. I like the colors and the pattern. The sub includes some neat pieces like the trans orange/red hexagon windows - I could see these being used for a larger Nautilus-style sub. The other printed parts that you've pictured are really nice . Love that shark tail fin. The sub also has some neat storage compartments and seating for the deep sea divers (important for playability). Just noticed the working compass - how cool is that? As a fan of underwater themes, especially the older Divers and Nautica themes, I would say that while the design is more playful and colorful, the unique pieces add a lot of interest to this set. Thanks for sharing a great review that captures my interest. I'm going to have to look at a few other Aquazone sets. EDIT: Oh, and nice job on that introductory image. Front-paged!
  10. Oh, that's disappointing. I thought they were dark green like those from the Grand Emporium. This is a train forum so they both have a topic here in Train Tech. You can find a link to the HP train discussion in the Index as well.
  11. Great WWII vehicle! This would compliment the Indy theme nicely. I love the thought of fitting a few German soldiers within this classic auto. Just noticed the pilot torsos (they work well!). I like the red doors on the side that brighten up the vehicle. Overall, a very nice design. EDIT: I think I'm going to move this into Other Themes as it really is a WWII vehicle.
  12. Etzel: I always like your MOCs. Nice use of the dark green plates and dark tan tiles, a fine contrasting color combination to the eye. The corner of the building really works for me with the tile pattern. Although hard to see, the curtain behind the window is a nice touch. Great little vignette!
  13. Nice review of a neat little set. I don't even remember this one. One can always use another crate, dynamite stick, and scorpion in the theme, and the backpack; while rather large, was always a neat piece. Great photo-edited introductory image!
  14. Thanks WF. I thought you might like this one (better than the Voodoo Lounge, huh?) Divers was a great theme and I don't think Aqua Raiders even came close. I was trying to create some more official looking Divers box art and came up with this? What do you guys think? It's really tricky to capture the beauty of the artwork used in these fantastic themes.
  15. This one is particularly neat LT. It has a real clean design, and I like the colors. I particularly like how you made the roof, and nice job on the custom decals. Unrelated to your MOC, why the smileys on all your creations/topics?
  16. Very nice! Reminds me of the Outback theme (which I loved). Great job on the suspension. It's neat to see the Bronco on the Pirate Island base. You did an equally nice job on the trailer and motorcycle. This would make a neat little set.
  17. Clever use of the blue pirate raft. I would never have thought of using it for a police boat.
  18. I'm only a dolphin.
  19. Cute! I'd call that a land shark.
  20. Thanks for the comments guys! Thanks much for the Classic-Town blog Shadows. It was a neat read. I almost posted this in the Town forum since I called it a Divers ship. I thought Adventurers/Action was more fitting, and I like to mix things up a bit. Coming soon... That's a very nice compliment Fred. Thank you. It's always great to hear that a MOC inspires others to build. Slosh! (wets pants) Thanks for the nice feedback Sieg. I feel like I've done a pretty good job when you and Shadows share your comments. Believe it or not, the rigging took me almost half the day, then I decided to gut the ship to add a cargo hold - then redid it adding the working winch. I think the extra effort was worth the effort - thanks. Interesting thought. It all started with a visit to a local old-fashioned candy shop when I found the nice tin sign pictured above. It gave me inspiration to build a 50s style boat. I'm actually a big fan of ships, boats, and nautical collectibles, plus I love the Adventurers theme (especially the Amazon Jungle sets). This ship is a cross between Divers, the boat from River Expedition, and the boat from T-Rex Transport. That's nice to hear. It's always great to hear that a MOC or even a picture brings back fond memories. Thanks Marin. Presentation is important to me and I think a nice background really adds to the mood/feel of a creation.
  21. Thanks for the feedback BR. I am a pretty basic builder. The ship has a steering room that has a door to the rear of the ship. The top lifts off for added playability. In addition, there is a cargo hold just behind the mast that opens with one of the 6x8 opening plates (can't see in the image, but I got the idea from the Orient Expedition Emperor's Ship). It's about 2-1/2 bricks deep for barrels, a crate, or other cargo). I'll share some more images tomorrow when I have better lighting.
  22. Thanks LT. Absolutely! The arm even rotates to move the net from side-to-side.
  23. "There are many strange legends in the Amazon. Even I, Lucas, have heard the legend of a man-fish." -Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) My most recent creation, Rita, the exploration vessel from the 1954 U.S. classic, Creature from the Black Lagoon. (creature not included) Alternate "Amazon Jungle" Image: A few additional images with different backdrops: Inspiration Poster: The creature sneaking aboard the vessel: Updated Town image:
