  1. Gandalf the Grey? No - he was unfortunately not available here in the U.S. There's also the troll sorceress from 7097 Troll's Mountain Fortress (still available).
  2. After purchasing the new Kingdoms 7955 Wizard set, I broke out the old Crownie collection to compare the new wizard with the old Red Sorcerer. High atop the Dark Mountains, which wizard will win in this epic battle of Evil vs. Evil? The Green Wizard may call upon the Dark Forest Dragon Knights with new bucket helmets while the magic of the Red Sorcerer can summon an undead army to do his bidding. Using different wands to conjure their magic, choose your favorite Wizard.
  3. Welcome Greg3 and BobaFett2. Hope you guys enjoy our community LEGO Train forum.
  4. This may be another discussion entirely, but why is it that LEGO can't seem to capture the charm of these Legendary castle sets anymore? The new Kingdoms theme does have wonderful figs, but the design is far from being legendary. In addition, it really is unfortunate that LEGO stopped their Legend program. One set a year (esp. Castle) would have been awesome. The consolation was Medieval Market I suppose. Perhaps there will be more of these AFOL Castle sets.
  5. This is amazing! I'm checking out all of the awesome details. Front-paged!
  6. Medieval Market Village X 100! Check out Derfel Cardarn's amazing Legend of Mary Jane in the LEGO History Forum. What an awesome LEGO diorama.
  7. It's never to late to become a train fan and share your interest here on EB RoamingStudio. Hope you enjoy the forum.
  8. Not necessarily. They could have just as well included a single knight, an Evil Queen, Dungeonmaster, or other fig. The Green Wizard does make up for not getting the Grey Wizard Crownie fig here in the U.S.
  9. Interesting question. I was thinking about this same thought last night as I was building the Guarded Inn. As it is my only sectional castle set, I was wondering how it was suppose to be incorporated in other LEGO Castle sets, attached to a wall. It would be neat to see how some of the other castle fans did this, and with what sets.
  10. Here's an image of all three back when I had them on a table together:
  11. Wow! That certainly is a lot of sets. I think a few of the Guarded Inn would have been particularly nice. One could have exteded the wall and structures. I set up a little Pirate/Castle combo called Port Legend back when these sets came out. Let me see.. I think I can find the pictures... Lighting up the Legendary Port: I may do some photo editing today. --- This was really a hard choice for me in terms of the vote. I had to give it a lot of thought. While I am tempted to vote for the Blacksmith Shop because I liked that it is a civilian structure, I like the figs in the Castle. - One more vote Black Falcon's Fortress.

  13. Welcome RS. 182 - there's a vintage train. I've always liked the colors. How I wish I had some of these early LEGO trains. They just weren't available here in the United States. In any case, I hope you enjoy the forum.
  14. This is really an interesting topic SoT. I've been meaning to take a few minutes to read the thread before responding. I have every set in the theme now (except for the large castle and the army packs (which I'm planning to get next week)). I think the Kingdoms theme is a nice attempt by LEGO to return to the more traditional human Castle factions and while there is only the single wizard set, magic is certainly not an aspect at this time. While this may be the case, I predict we'll be seeing some mythical creatures in future sets. From the marketing perspective, kids like dragons and monsters. By all indication, this theme is not exactly geared toward the AFOL, and thus I believe we'll be seeing more magical and mythical components in the future. With that said, the thought of Elves and woodland creatures would really add to the theme and make it more unique then that of past Castle sub-themes. In addition, I would certainly love to see Forestmen, but with the Green/Dragon Knight faction, standard green figs seem to clash with the dark green elements/figs. That's not to say that a green dragon or other Dark Forest type set won't find it's way into the theme. I think the Green Wizard provides the most hope for a magical forest cottage and some beasts that he can summon to perform his bidding (as the Dragon Knights are outnumbered by their red counterparts). I just hope that if we see some forest hideouts, they are along the line of Classic Castle Forestmen or the Wolfpack collection. I look forward to seeing the next collection of Kingdoms sets, and I hope LEGO doesn't turn the theme into a large collection of vehicles/siege weapons. Again, great topic!
  15. During 2001 and 2002, LEGO released three legendary castle sets. They included the first LEGO Legend, 10000 Guarded Inn, a second LEGO Castle Legend, 10039 Black Falcon's Fortress, and 3739 Blacksmith Shop designed by Daniel Siskind. While the Blacksmith Shop is not an official "LEGO Legend", because it was released around the same time and the fact that it was a fan favorite, I've included it as 'Legendary' set. Given these three legendary castle sets, which is your favorite? Discuss your thoughts of these Classic Castle sets.
  16. Hi Talltim. Welcome to the forum, although it sounds like you've been around for some time. Thanks for sharing that nice collection of models with us. I really like the Baldwin locomotive. Hope you continue to enjoy the forum, and you're always welcome to share more of your fantastic creations.
  17. Thanks MO. It's fun to do so, esp. with ones like this that I never owned. Personally, I think these sets are timeless - makes me want to build more.
  18. Seeing reviews like this really makes me feel sad that I missed all of these wonderful themes/sub-themes during my Dark Ages. Since the Kingdoms line was released, I've been looking closely at these older castle sets admiring all the tricks, traps, no longer available elements, and simple yet fantastic set designs. I use to not like baseplates like the one that provides the foundation for this fortress, but I now think it adds to the charm of the set. I also like the color palette of this set, esp. the green and brown. Great figs and a lot of accessories. This is a 5-star set for me. Front-paged!
  19. Classic Castle Alive and Well in the EB History Forum! Many LEGO Castle fans might say that Forestmen, Dark Castle, and other castles released during the mid 90s were some of the best and most exciting sets in the LEGO Castle timeline. If you are a fan of Forestmen or Dark Forest, you might enjoy Metalandi's flashback of 6079 Dark Forest Fortress. This is a must see review for those of you who appreciate the color and design of LEGO Classic Castle.

  21. Very nice Deathdog, but please resize your image. Our site guideline is no larger than 800x600. Much appreciated.
  22. Thanks. I've updated the initial image once again for a more foresty look. I think I like this image better.
  23. This set introduced me to the Adventurers Desert/Egypt collection after the movie, 'The Mummy', came out. I really enjoyed building it and keep it safe inside a small Adventurers Chest with a few of the other small sets from the collection. 5 Star Set!
