  1. Egyptian Treasures Can we move or open the sarcophagus? Opening the sarcophagus reveals the remnants of an ancient mummy. Can we see what is inside the 3 crates and the chest? Inside the crates, wrapped in shredded paper are the following: Crate 1: An alabaster chalice and silver vase Crate 2: A bronze statue of Anubis Crate 3: Various pieces of jewelry including a gold buckle, a scarab bracelet, a gold falcon pendant, and four gold rings similar to the scarab ring you found in the subterranean passage. The chest is elaborately decorated but is empty. Is there anything inside the canopic jars? But if not, I'd like to more closely examine them anyways. The jars are sealed and would probably involve breaking to discover the contents. The jars do not have symbols. And last, but not least, where the Grotto lead out to? The grotto is open to the ocean (the North side of the mansion). Well this is where it gets ugly. Now we find out why he was killed. I think I know what is inside one of these items at least and I have a thought on who killed crowley but not enough brain power to finalize it. Would you care to make an educated guess or share your suspicions? Brickster what is in these containers Mr. Lego Builder is opening? The jars would probably involve breaking unless opened by an expert. You may break them if you wish but they appear to be very old and probably rather valuable. Does the ring belong to this sarcophagus or perhaps what may be inside? Is there a place the ring fits into/onto? Mr. Lego Builder opens the sarcophagus. It is the remains of a very ancient mummy. No place for the ring to be inserted. The jars sound like they are burial jars. Are these more symbols possibly? The jars do not have symbols but the lids are fine carvings of the animals and person mentioned above.
  2. The Grotto You find your way back to the subterranean passage where you come to the locked iron gate. You pull out the gold key attempting to unlock it, and CLICK, the gate unlocks. It creeks open as you continue walking along the dark damp cavern. The cavern passage ends in a large grotto that opens to the rising ocean tide. Inside the grotto is the following: A large ornate Egyptian sarcophagus that stands upright. Three large wooden crates (sealed but not locked). A large chest. Four canopic jars with human, falcon, baboon, and jackal lids. The jars appear to be sealed. Tied to one side of the grotto is a small wooden row boat.
  3. The gold mine:
  4. added. sounds like a great theme.
  5. Gold Mine (original set with desert background and ghost rider)
  6. The cemetery:
  7. You make your way back up to the attic to see if the key unlocks the large sea chest. The gold key does not fit the lock.
  8. Mr. Lego Bildur diligently searches all the pockets of the wardrope to discover a shiny gold key in the side front pocket of the blue Navy coat.
  9. Yes, but only after the others have a chance to do their mysteries. Sounds like Lost Viking wants to move his down the list though.
  10. Sneak Peek. There's a few more mystery releases before Ghost Town, but coming in a few months:
  11. To help keep the order of the mysteries, here is a current list showing who is next if Jipay and/or the other administrators want to limit the mysteries to one at a time. MYSTERY NAME...........................AUTHOR.............LEGO THEME...............STATUS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mystery on the Lego Express........Brickster.............Train.........................Complete Mystery at Crowley Mansion..........Brickster.............Town........................Complete Paradise Lost.................................Darkness Falls...Island/Adventure.......Cancelled Murder on Flight 514......................Brickster............City/Airplanes..........Not Solved Ghost Town...................................Brickster.............Wild West................Cancelled Mystery at the Opera House..........Lost Viking.........Town..........................Cancelled Skull Island....................................SuvieD................Pirate.......... ...........Cancelled
  12. Pete responds, "interesting hypothesis. In regard to the symbols, from what I know about Egyptian hieroglyphics, I think that the lion does represent the letter L. Perhaps one or more of the other letters are incorrect. And what does the word tell us? I think we should search for the key to the gate. It must be here somewhere. This bedroom should be our starting place, and perhaps other items may be of interest. If your suspisions are correct, what clues were provided in Crowley's journal? Sounds as if Crowey may have been involved in something illegal. Unfortunately, I have more questions than answers".
  13. Pete states, "perhaps we have not searched everything. Also, in regard to the symbols, are you sure that all the symbols mean the letters you think? Crowley said that the word was an easy one".
  14. I recommend making a new forum called Lego Mysteries since a few people have expressed an interest in creating their own mysteries. They don't really fit in to the Train and Town forum but the 1st was placed there because it was train-related. - just a thought.
  15. How can a 2005 quarter be in a older wallet? Pete responds, "that is an interesting observation and leads me to believe that someone has been in this house since the murder was committed. The current date is February 3, 2005". Are there any pockets in the clothes? If so, I'm determined to search every single one of them... Yes, where/what would you like to search first? Also, what color are the contacts? Opening the plastic contact container reveals that the contacts are missing. Does the photo have a date anywhere? No date on the photos. Is the saline solution used? About one-fourth empty. Is there any sign of water having been in the sink, toilet, or shower recently? No, all are pretty dry. Was DC ever married Pete? "I had heard that he was married many years before he moved to Heceta, and that she died before he retired here". Is there any inscription on the band? None. I would like to check inside the toilet tank also if possible. Only water inside. I believe the young child in the picture to be his daughter, perhaps. Grandmother to said great-granddaughter. Do we have any additonal information about her? Pete responds, "I only heard that Crowley had a great grandchild who lived in France".
  16. Inside the Trunk Inside the small trunk are two sweaters, a coat, and a few photographs. The pictures are of a younger Dorian Crowley holding a small girl in front of the Eiffel Tower. The Closet You open the closet door to find several shirts, pants, suits, ties, and a blue Navy coat hanging up inside. Also inside is a two-drawer dresser containing under clothes, socks, a few belts, and a small jewelry box. Inside the jewelry box is a gold wedding band, several sets of cufflings, a gold watch, about $400 in assorted U.S. bills, and a black leather wallet. The wallet contains a Visa Platinum Card, a Point Heceta library card, a bank card, and expired driver's license (dated 6/6/2002) - all in Dorian Crowley's name. Also in the box is a 2005 Oregon quarter and some loose change. Two shoe boxes rest on the dresser; one containing a pair of slippers, and the other a pair of black casual shoes. Bathroom The bathroom is very small and contains a sink, toilet, and shower. On the sink are the typical bathroom items in addition to a plastic container for right and left contacts, and a bottle of saline solution.
  17. SuvieD lifts the dusty blankets, pillows, and sheet on the bed. You do not find anything here. You then look under the bed were you find a small trunk (or footlocker).
  18. Behind one door is a closet, and the other a very small bathroom. Which would you like to examine first?
  19. Gold City Junction is an awesome set as well as the old mine. GSJ has the one fig that is not found in any of the other sets (the bank coach driver). The bank and the coach have the exploding mechanism. The bank is ok, but I love blowing out the back of the wagon. I agree with you in regard to the figs. I have something like five of each outlaw. Lego definately needed more variety here. Lego Wild West came out years after I quit buying sets, then one day I found the Weapon Wagon in a TRU. I bought it and thought it had been the best little set I had seen in years. I started doing some searching around town and to make a long story short, I was able to find all of the non-indian sets (mostly at high-ticket toy stores that only carried a few Lego sets). It was so fun going from store to store and making phone calls all over to find these sets! Adequate.Com had a few reviews of the Wild West sets that really made me want them before buying (esp. the Bandit's Secret Hideout which I'll provide a link for => Mine - must be a "mystery thing". These sets are all pretty simple but I loved building them and I think they're very unique compared to other Lego themes. If I didn't have some of these sets Steve, I'd buy at a high price just to have - esp the two that you're missing which I think are the best in the line. Good luck and I enjoy looking at your Western vignettes and MOCs.
  20. The stamps are a sheet of twenty 37-cent First-class self-adhesive stamps. Three stamps have been used. Chewie takes the magnifying glass. Pete states, "there's no crime in bootlegging alcohol in these parts. Perhaps Crowley was involved in something more".
  21. Examining the chair cushion, underside, and legs does not reveal anything. The desk does have a drawer. Inside are some pens, pencils, writing paper (labelled "D.C."), a book of U.S. stamps, and a large magnifying glass (made of brass). The sweater has a single pocket. The pocket is empty. The glass of water is about half full. In regard to Crowley's body, Pete replies, "The coroner's report had indicated that Crowley was killed by a hard blow to the head".
  22. The papers appear to be a stack of various receipts from purchases made in Port Heceta (mostly groceries, supplies, and a few clothing items dated over the past few years). The book appears to be a journal but unfortunately, most of the pages have been ripped out except for one near the end with the blank pages. The page reads: Paradisia has been most forceful in the purchase of my estate, and I fear that their persistence will lead to the discovery of one of the secrets that lie in the depths of this mansion. I may be forced to go to the authorities incriminating both myself and them, but if so, many in this town will not let an old man die in jail. I have even scared myself in our attempts to ward off visitors while signaling to the ship, but they cannot be trusted as there is no true honor among thieves. I cannot trust anyone, not even my great grand daughter, who has much fortune to gain with my demise. I am all alone now.
  23. Great outpost Nathan. I love the river/stream.
  24. I think that westerns in general were more appealing during the 60s-80s when westerns were more predominant in film. Popularity, even in the U.S., has dwindled down over the years creating a very low demand for wild west themes (traditionally cowboys and indians). But I think that the Wild West was very appealing outside of the United States as well based upon popularity of movies, western heroes, and outlaws. They just aren't popular anymore (esp. among the younger generations). I would love to see Lego re-create the theme.
