AWESOME!!! Hear the voices of Pirate mini-figures

I was afraid so, I think it's time to go back to Arkham Asylum. -
AWESOME!!! Hear the voices of Pirate mini-figures
WesternOutlaw replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
How bizarre! Phes, I think you've finally flipped your mini-fig wig. Or not I think you're taking these Pirate threads way too serious Phes. Maybe we need to place your avatar mini-fig in Arkham Asylum for a while- just to gather your thoughts (and voices). Or you've finally posted one too many "Pirate and Castle" posts and you've completely run out of subject matter. These voices are the end result. *wacko* -
Sultan's Tower MOC
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage. Most of my sets (including the Scorpion Palace and my Egyptian sets) are burried in boxes in the garage, so I'm building most of these MOCs with pieces from tubs as opposed to sets. I'll put these together and wreck them soon after - but sometimes take a few pictures before destroying. I don't think this one came out too bad, so I thought I'd share. If I had Scorpion Palace readily at hand, I think I would use the arches and add more detail from some great pieces contained in the set (including the figs, scimitars, and other detailed pieces). -

Somewhat of a combination Phes. No historic significance/representation. I didn't intend to provide a story, but rather just build for fun. -
Sultan's Tower MOC

Here's a shot of the inside/steps: -
I was tinkering with some bricks today and thought I would try an Egyptian tower. I call this Sultan's Tower. Made with standard yellow and white bricks, Sultan's Tower is hollow with a winding staircase that leads to the top level. A close-up of the top level. The Sultan's look-out stands ready: The Sultan with his royal guards: Another angle of the tower: Your comments/feedback are welcomed.

Thanks for sharing these images. The Cargo Train is very nice. I love the shorter cars (esp. the box car and tipper). This is a nice set and a I may buy for the engine and rolling stock, but I still don't like the price, esp. considering that the track is all plastic. I'm not real fond of the passenger train at all. It looks rather "Jack-Stone-Like" with the large pieces. I think the previous green and white passenger train looks better. Also, I'm still a little surprised that Lego made these sets since they just offered similar passenger and cargo trains. These new sets just seem so much like 4511 and 4512.

Would someone care to continue this? I'd like to bring closure to this mystery. Just two suspects remain.

Classic Castle Figure Display

No, I've never tried this. I would think that the color printer ink would melt under heat though. Not sure. Have you tried this? -
Classic Castle Figure Display
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
HP Sticker Paper. It's rather thick and they're regular 8 1/2 x 11" sheets that just have a backing. The hardest part is to peel off the paper backing (or get it started I should say). The sheets cut just like regular photo paper (they are a little thick though). I found the shields on Clastle Castle.com and just had to convert them to the right size. Here was my original post after making the stickers a few months ago. The message was part of a pic review of set 375 Yellow Castle: Stickers for Classic Castle Figs -
Thanks for sharing this information. It sounds like a very nice set. The Batman theme keeps getting better!

Classic Castle Figure Display
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It's an older printer (but still pretty good). It's an HP Photo Smart P1000. At the time (at least 5 years ago), it was one of the best rated printers for photo printing. But I've heard that any of the HP Photo Smart printers are pretty good. I use the printer for making regular photos from digital pics (and for Lego stickers -it works great). -
After spending a lot of time printing and cutting stickers for some classic castle figs (shields and breast plates), I wanted to display the figs in a display stand. I plan to add smooth tiles when I acquire some new pieces (much of my piece collection is in boxes in the garage), but here's the display stand in classic castle design. Not much detail, but this was a first attempt at doing something new:

Very good Yoda. Nice idea!

I've asked this question in the past too re. how people store their sets. I store all of my sets in the original box. I've got huge moving boxes packed with sets. There's got to be a better way as these boxes do take up a lot of space and are hard to find when you're looking for an old set. I just hate mixing pieces from numerous sets because when you attempt to build an old model, finding the pieces becomes so difficult. I do like saving the boxes for both the art/imagery as well as alternate models on the back of the box. A collapsible box would be a great idea though. I've also noticed that some of the new larger sets require you to rip the back sides of the box to lift the top/cover. Don't like this at all (7893 Passenger Plane is an example). There must be a better way.

I've noticed that lately, new sets no longer include Lego catalogues. Over the last few years, it seems that Lego has been transitioning to very small (1-2) page folded catalogues (even in large sets that always provided big catalogues). But now, larger sets only seem to include instructions. Has anyone noticed this? It's kind of disappointing. I've always enjoyed looking at set pictures. Maybe another strategy for Lego to reduce costs?

Two remaining suspects, then a final interrogation... Maybe then, we can solve this mystery.

Nice detail work Vader. The cockpit looks much better with the modifications.

Cindy begins crying uncontrollably. "I never murdered anyone and I was asleep, right after I had my beverage". You're a terrible man! I hate you! I'm not a murderer, I'm not, I'm not! Producer Seth Bernstein walks over to ask, "what seems to be the problem here"? It's obvious to everyone that this pleasant young lady would not have murdered anyone. I would recommend that you question one of the remaining suspects. Speculation and intimidation will not solve the mystery at hand. I would focus on the facts." Mr. Bernstein returns to his chair while Cindy sobs over Athos's questioning :-(

Very nice Christian. Excellent detail. I esp. like the sleeping quarters.

Thanks for the compliments. I must say that out of all the recent themes, I really like these Batman sets. I hope we see some Batman city sets with black, grey, and red buildings (not just vehicles). This is a very good theme and the batmobile is an especially enjoyable set. It's very detailed, very slick/smooth with flats and curves, and the front shooter has some strength. I can't recall looking forward to more new sets in a theme in the past few years. Great theme!

I wasn't crazy about the yellow bricks in my first Batcave MOC (Yellow Batcave), so I thought I'd redesign building this one around the Batmobile. I think this design and colors work out better: Batman Standing on the Highest Platform Right Diagonal View Steps Leading into the Batcave Batcave Gold Power Generator Prison with Catwoman Escaping Two-Face Helping Catwoman Escape Batmobile Exit Rear View with Batmobile Rear View - Larger Rear View of Batmobile Top Right Diagonal View Top Left Diagonal View ALL Images I think this one came out better than the 1st and looks great with the Batmobile inside (which is an awesome set)!

Just two more suspects to go...
-
Oh, the green baseplates (roadplates) are not part of the MOC. I just used these to screen out the surrounding area.

While I was patiently waiting for my Batman sets to arrive from LSAH, I thought I would try my talents at a MOC Batcave. I'm not real good at MOCs as I don't like mixing pieces from numerous sets, but here's my attempt to build a Batcave with some loose bricks. I just received my sets today, so I added some of the new figs. I call this MOC Catwoman's Capture: Entrance Prison w/Batman Prison w/Catwoman Prison Side Bat Generator w/Gold Bricks Gotham Skyline Bat Computer Whole Moc I purchased both the Dragster w/Catwoman and the Batmobile w/Two-Face. Just built the dragster and must say it's a neat little set. The figs are very nice. I plan to build the batmobile tomorrow which I'm sure will even be a better set. But I can't wait for the real Batcave!
