Back when I shared these images, not many EB members were in to the WW theme. I think the interest has grown over the last few years which is really great.

I really like the idea of skeletal pirates and since this is fiction, I don't think it matters that the captain has a pirate hat. I've been toying with this set over the past week and must say that I really like the ship. It's a lot of fun with the gun on the front and the catapult on the castle structure. You can create some great sea/land battles with it. Also, the more and more I look at the ship, the more I like its design. I would say that it really grows on you. I give this set a *y* *y* up!

New Castle Sets Coming In 2008???
WesternOutlaw replied to WhySoSerious?'s topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Seems that Lego would continue this line. The new theme is rather nice and a great improvement over KK. I particularly like the figs and very much looking forward to the Dwarf Mine. The Skeleton Ship is among my favorite set of the line-up so far. PS. And welcome to EB JM. Sounds like you're a castle fan. Good to see you posting on the History & Adventure Forum. -
Exactly. Asuka is correct. Also keep in mind that the picture was taken looking down on the model that is sitting on the carpet. It makes the gap appear a little larger. In addition; for those of you that recommended ironing the sail, it worked great. I set the iron to low and used a t-shirt to protect the sail. It flattened it out perfectly. In fact, it worked so well, that I did the same with my old WW Weapons Wagon cover that has gotten wrinkled over the years. The iron worked perfectly.

Lego Display Case for Batman and Spongebob!
WesternOutlaw replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Licensed
That works great! I've always wanted Lego to make a case for the SW figs, and now Batman. I like the way you displayed them. Excellent deal and a great display! Just a thought: although that maple/light wood looks very nice, I would consider painting it black/grey and adding a Batman logo or two. I think it would look sharp. -
After recently taking apart the large 2007 Castle Theme castle looking forward to the new Batman/Scarecrow set, I found 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack at a recent visit to Tors R Us. After a late night of building Sunday evening, I couldn't wait to take some pictures and post a review on EB. So here it is: ------------------------------------- SET DETAILS ------------------------------------- Theme: Castle 2007 Set Name: Skeleton Ship Attack Number: 7029 Pieces: 628 Price: $69.99 (USD) ------------------------------------- THE SKELETON SHIP ------------------------------------- The box, excellent imagery boasting "Special Edition": The back of box. Once again, no alternate models: Two sets of instructions. Bags are numbered: The ship. My first observation was that it could be longer or have an aft section, but it isn't too bad: The front: The front contains a rubber band operated cannon like the Crossbow Catapult. It actually works pretty well: The hull/aft section. The entry is open with no doors. I think the bone pieces may be glow-in-the-dark but I haven't tested yet. The chest contains 4 standard gold coins: . I like the sides of the ship with the window pieces and shilds. The plank lifts inward: The mast is securely attached with a technic beam; and the top of the cabin is removable: The aft. It has the new castle lightning bolt pieces: Crows nest with red sail: Removing the cabin reveals a smaller cargo level with a mouse/rat: The sail. Mine was rather wrinkled in the box and it does not hang very well. I do like the pattern/design: And the last image of the ship, the top of the cabin removed. This is a great playability feature: ----------------------- ON TO THE CASTLE ----------------------- The front. It is built with three sections: 1) middle bridge section, 2) right building structure, 3) left catapult cave: Starting with the building section: The roof lifts to reveal my favorite part of the castle. It includes a small table, chicken/turkey leg, barrel, short sword, and gold goblet: The catapult cave section. The catapult rotates 360 degrees. The chest contains three colored gems: The back side: The bridge (middle section): A sliding mechanism pulls out allowing four brown tiles to collapse when pulling. More planks would have made the feature better (kind of like the Tygura Adventurers set): The middle section. I love the knight shield: A closer perspective: The back of the middle section: The knights. No new torsos, faces, or weapons: The skeletons. I really like the skeleton captain with beard and pirate hat: And lastly, the set includes two new silver orbs (for the catapult), and two projectiles for the ship's gun: ------------ SUMMARY ------------ LIKES: I like the combination of the skeleton ship and castle wall. I regret taking apart my castle to see how this new castle section could have been added. The set offers much playability with seven figs, accessible structures, and detailed accessories (two chests, crate, goblet, gold, gems, and barrel). Most of all, I like the thought of a castle on the sea with the doc. DISLIKES: Right after opening the box, I found the ship's sail rolled up and wrinkled. This is very disappointing. I may write Lego and ask for a replacement. I'm not sure if these can be ironed or flattened some how. In addition, lately all my set instructions have been badly wrinkled. Lego needs to pack these in boxes better o that they stay flat. Perhaps the paper is a little thinner too adding to the issue. The ship could have been longer with a molded back end (as mentioned above), but it still looks pretty good. I would prefer a smaller closed castle structure as opposed to a wall, but the sections that can be disattached are nice (esp. the building structure). I think the price is a little too much for the # of pieces (many small), and the box way too large. It really isn't much after building the set. ------------------- FINAL THOUGHT ------------------- This is probably the better of most of the new Castle theme sets but it is still a bit like Knights Kingdom. I would buy this set again for the likes mentioned above. I'm not sure how I plan to use this set as I don't want to rebuild the large castle any time soon, but it is a nice stand alone set with a lot of playability. Hope you enjoy the review.

This is one of my favorites. I shared an image last October for Halloween - found on Brickshelf. Here's the link with a few other very nice haunted houses: Haunted House MOCs

Very nice STA. I really like the flatbed car with the John Deer. It looks like an actual Lego train car. The ant farm is very creative. Both cars are very nice. great job!

Also strange, I saw the set a few days ago available in the US. Now Lego SAH says this under the item description: Sorry, item is not available in this country: United States.

I wanted to share a recent MAJ.COM find. This is a G-Scale Lego freight wagon. How can I tell the scale? you ask. By the LGB track that it sits upon. I have not seen a Lego G scale MOC train before. This is pretty nice. I would love to see Lego's Hobby Train collection include a Freight Wagon (in regular Lego scale). I've wanted to build one for a long time now. In any case, this really has some nice detail. Here's a link to the image folder: G-Scale Freight Wagon

Excellent find! Thanks for sharing the info. I really like this set. Combining a castle and a doc is a really nice concept. I like the death ship too.
-
Very well done SirNadroj. I love the stair case. You did a nice job capturing the mood of Nightmare Before Christmas. I'd love to see more. You need to share this as well as any other NBC MOCs in October for Halloween. I'm already gearing up. *skull*

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the feedback. I would not consider this a really good example of my castle theme MOCing. I was just trying to build an alternate from the single set. All my Lego was instorage, and I had purchased this set during a temporary move. To tell you the truth, I think the wagon is pretty bad. Something like this is a lot better (I think), and more a long the classic castle look: Classic Castle Armory Thanks H. I'm not just a fan of the WW theme. Classic Castle and City were some of my first loved themes when I was a kid (some sets of which I still have). I'm also a big Adventurers fan, Ninja, Train, and SW. I've got a pretty heavy collection of all of these themes as well as Batman. Check this thread out for some more MOCs if you care to see them: TheBrickster's Index I've done some Adventurers, Batman, and a few more MOCs. I just enjoy writing about Ghost Town as it was a prelude to a Murder Mystery I planned to share a few years ago. I enjoy adding stories to sets/MOCs, esp. those of a mystery or horror element.

I built this when I was moving and only had a few sets at my convenience. In looking at it now, I don't think it's that good at all - but thanks for the comment.

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
WesternOutlaw replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Several months ago (maybe longer), I thought the talk was that Brickshelf would be shutting down. If I recall correctly, the recommendation was to migrate to Maj.com. -
LEGOREDO STATION wild west set #6785
WesternOutlaw replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My German is pretty rusty, but isn't that neat! But at the same time, I think too much popluarity is not always a good thing. BM: I must admit that I've purposefully stayed away from using Lego graphics on my digital backgrounds (with just a few recent exceptions). I don't want to be contacted by a Lego rep who says the use of their graphics infringes on TLG's copyrights. That's one reason why I've tried to design my own backgrounds. -
I saw numerous knights but don't believe I saw any pirates. If I should see any pictures around the net, I'll share them.
-
Very impressive IS. The snow adds the best background possible. I was going to suggest removing the baseplates as well, but just read why you have them there. You need a few white ones then. In any case, this looks really slick. I esp. like the scene with the snowtroopers. Lostcarpark: your scene looks good as well. I never got around to making a scene and taking pictures with my Hoth sets. :-(

The Blacksmith's workshop - Part I: The house and story
WesternOutlaw replied to El Bucanero's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice job Mr. T. I really like the classic yellow and red roofed buliding. It would fit in very nicely next to the existing blacksmith shop. It reminds me of the old yellow castle. I like how you added the wooden structure, but did you consider perhaps building it with grey bricks? Not sure your brick selection. You could possibly add a door/additional windows which would add some nice detail. In any case, very nice. *y* *y* -
Thank you ZBD and Apache. Appreciate your feedback and welcome to EB. I also like your name Apache. Neat avatar as well. Do you have any of the American Indian sets? and/or done any WW MOCing yourself?
-
The coach is actually only 4-studs wide with the exception of the front area which is a 2x6 for the rider to sit on. Thanks T. I appreciate your comments.
-
Thanks Mr. T. Appreciate the nice feedback. I wish I can take credit for the design, but aside from the colors and just a few modifications, it is an official set.

LEGOREDO STATION wild west set #6785
WesternOutlaw replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes, this is an excellent train KD. I did the following pic review a few years ago: 3225 Pic Review I often times break this set out for my WW town. I like the size and it is very "playable". The MOT Steam Engine, Green Passenger Cars, and Caboose make a nice WW train as well. But BM's train truly is excellent because it has the features of an old C-19 4-8-0 built in the 1800s. Here's an image of one: -
Well, not exactly what I wanted, but it was a lot of fun. Just had to add a few of my special touches.
-
Well, actually they did- the WW theme. You should try building one of your ideas. Sounds interesting. I'm picturing a trapper's cabin and a logging flume. Sound interesting.
