  1. Sorry for all the Vig's lately, I'm off work with a chest infection so I'm kind of bored...it's not as if I can even sleep as I just cough myself to pieces so I have to do something. Anyway, as it says up top, this one is kind of an experiment. I don't know if it has worked or not, but I'm on medication so my mind is a little frazzled right now. I call it "Escape to the Cave". The brave knight had fought long and hard with the Dragon but the battle was too much for him... He flees to a mysterious glowing cave containing water that has magical healing properties, but he can only wonder how long it is before the Dragon finds him... Dr. S.
  2. I believe yes is the correct answer - although the craft is travelling very fast, the objects within are travelling at the same speed so it's relative. (I think - I leave it to my WMD contractors to work out maths and physics) Dr. S.
  3. It's very low tech'. I just left the back of the fireplace open, put some coloured paper there to filter the light slightly and put a torch behind that! Here's my exclusive behind the scenes picture. I used the low natural light from the window to illuminate the scene generally but left the torch really to do the main job of highlighting the fire. Of course...Santa would be horribly burned if he came down that chimney, but I guess he is magical...right? :-D Dr. S.
  4. Thanks! That's a MF head from this year's Castle - I borrowed it for the shot from one of the guards. I must go and return it or he'll only complain. :-D Dr. S.
  5. This is only my second ever Vig. The theme may have been done before and if so, I apologise, it just seemed like a good idea at the time. It's simply titled "Intruder". :-) The Police had spent years trying to track down the bearded burglar in the red outfit, and now...they finally had their man. I like to mess with lighting effects in my LEGO pictures, I was quite pleased with the fireplace effect I managed. Note that I have not edited these pictures in any way (it probably shows!). Dr. S.
  6. Wow! that does look cool! I am honoured! Dr. S.
  7. Done - here it is. Dr. S.
  8. OK, so who wants a wallpaper version of that first picture? I've set up two versions you can download, if you are interested - an 800 x 600 one and a 1,024 x 768 one. I'll do any other sizes by request. Dr. S.
  9. This is a very informative thread, I can see I shall need more lighting in Tabletown. I like to play around with natural lighting - so far the first picture in this thread is my best LEGO pic'. Dr. S.
  10. That modified Crawler looks the business - as do the others BTW (not come across this thread before). Can't wait to see what you do to the standard TIE Fighter (the TIE/ln model). Dr. S.
  11. Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm glad my skyline shots went down so well. Of course, this means only one thing...my next one won't be as good! :'-( Dr. S.
  12. Very sleek - looks good from all angles, love the rear of the engines - can you say POWER? Dr. S.
  13. Yeah, the only ones showing are Creator ones. Not sure why the links themselves couldn't have just been put in the original post. http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?set=7623-1 (blank right now) http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?set=7622-1 (blank right now) http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?set=7621-1 (blank right now) http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?set=7873-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?set=7875-1 Dr. S.
  14. Wow, that thing looks awesome - small, powerful, and FAST. I imagine it would be used for short-range interception duties, to guard capital ships, knock attacking fighters out of the sky and back in time for tea? Dr. S.
  15. Ah, well, I had a bit of a backstory to this. I nearly gave him a scythe thingy - but the Skellie has stolen that sword from a Knight he killed earlier - you'll notice that there are other weapons scattered around the battlefield, I wanted to give the impression that this has been a hellish, pitched battle - if I could have found a way to put some flames in there, I would have. :-D Also, the guy on the ground is just a regular soldier, all the Knights have been wiped out, he's just got what's to hand. (OK, I also wanted something shiny that would catch the sunlight a little bit and I think the addition of a silver sword to the Skellie makes him look more...magical...somehow) Dr. S.
  16. Can I enter this? DNA is a personal hero of mine. I'm new to doing vignettes (only posted my first one here today) but I'd like to do something if nothing else to honour his memory. Dr. S.
  17. I love the interior, some great ideas there, very colourful though - but that's not a criticism, at least your sig-fig won't go into the wrong house. :-D Can my sig-fig come around and watch that huge TV? Dr. S.
  18. Cool car! The Mayor of Tabletown would love to lord it up in something like that! Some great detail in there! Dr. S.
  19. Phew! Thanks! I was pleased with the ones I took against the skyline - looks quite...dramatic. Wasn't sure on the detail levels in the scene itself though, didn't know if it was too crowded, not enough scenery...thought I'd give it a go though! Dr. S.
  20. This vignette is entitled "Last Stand". The brave warrior held the line valiantly against the marauding skeleton hordes, and even managed to kill one with his trusty sword, but with his comrades all dead, all seems lost and he now faces death himself as he tries to fend off attack with an axe. Dr. S.
  21. This is a bit of a negative thread IMO. Aren't we all here to celebrate and enjoy our hobby, not moan about it? I mean, case in point, "the lack of a Pirate theme" - have you seen how much stuff TLC is pumping out lately? They can only do so much - and their Town and Castle theme at the moment is very strong, with quality sets, well-designed. They are clearly putting a LOT of effort in right now so I say, give them a break, we don't know that they aren't knocking up a new Pirate range right now... Sorry, not having a go at anyone, I just think we need to be positive - have the proverbial smiley MF face on because what we've got is good. Well, I think so anyway. :-) Dr. S.
  22. No, this isn't mine, try that black one at the back. Dr. S.
  23. Sorry if this is old news but I've personally not seen it before - TRU Basingstoke has these in stock,
