  1. Very cool - I love the iPod - in fact, it's all great! Dr. S.
  2. Wow! Nice work! Combine them with my Dalek design and you've got a photostory! Dr. S.
  3. My descent into my Dark Ages began when I was about 13 or 14, this would have been around 1984-1985. I had a LEGO Moonbase - it was huge, loads of Classic Space sets. It all got destroyed in a story I really don't want to relate. :-( I never bought any new LEGO after that for years. All I had left was three storage tubs of basic LEGO - I made spaceships out of it, created stories, a whole universe around these ships, in my head and in writing, made technical manuals of the ships. After about 4-5 years, that tailed off and Real Life intervened, lots of disruption, my empire destroyed. My Dark Ages ended with the first Star Wars sets - I went mad, snapping up the entire wave of initial releases, then I was hooked, I had to build, build build, so I collected nearly an entire set of Wild West sets, a bunch of Town stuff - Tabletown was born in its very small first incarnation. And now...look at me! I'm 36, still going strong... Dr. S.
  4. I've never used Brickshelf either (I mean, I don't have anything on there myself) - but I can still perceive that this is a major, MAJOR blow to the AFOL community and for it just to be turned off like that is beyond bad - it's criminal. To all those who appear, at this time, to have lost their work - my heart goes out to you. :-( Dr. S.
  5. Hmmm, interesting. Anyone else notice how ropey the LEGO logo appears on those sets? Badly scanned or some kind of mockup? Dr. S.
  6. Impressive review! Really clear photos too! Thanks. Dr. S.
  7. I voted for Paul C - but Hinckley was a very close second. Dr. S.
  8. Thanks for this - I was a big MM fan as a child and I've made sure that my children were fully equipped with the entire series of books! Dr. S.
  9. Or that flexible! :-D Dr. S.
  10. If Doctor Sinister were a pirate - that's the sort of ship he'd go for. I love your sails - what are they made from? They look really thick and well made. The companion ship is cool - I can picture it being used to take treasure into tiny island inlets whilst the larger ship covers the coastline with its guns. Awesome... Dr. S.
  11. Wow - that's so inventive! How long does it take to transform? Dr. S.
  12. Question - skyscraper fans - how come one of the WTC buildings was 6 foot taller than the other? Dr. S.
  13. Which set does that tree trunk come in? It's unlike the palm trees I have in Tabletown. Dr. S.
  14. Interesting thought...I like it. Might have to try that myself. Dr. S.
  15. No! More Police is fine by me - there's one street in Tabletown that only has two Police cars patrolling it and, frankly, I'm worried that a riot might break out at any minute. :-D Dr. S.
  16. I'm only a noob here, and I've only just stumbled across this thread. This is the best MOC I've ever seen - I'd buy it in an instant if it was an official set - it's exciting, and captures the mood of the WW series perfectly - and the pictures are fabulous. I wish I had talent like this. Dr. S.
  17. :-D Oh wow - I'm SO into this new range. What a great idea! What's next? A bloke I work with keeps badgering me to make a brothel in Tabletown - I've resisted thus far, though I do have a pub'. Dr. S.
  18. I had a delivery from S@H today - amongst the many boxes was my order of set 9247 - Community Workers. So I put the minifigs together, and immediately unmounted my passenger plane hanging above Tabletown and swapped the co-pilot I had (ironically, from an earlier version of the Community Workers set), and the air hostess - for minifigures with the same colour trousers and caps. Yes, I replaced the MFs with ones wearing the same uniform as the pilot. Note that this will NEVER be seen by anyone else - as the plane is now hanging above Tabletown once again. Is this going too far? Do I need help? Dr. S.
  19. Here are some pictures of a gothic-style clock tower I built for Tabletown. IIRC, I only used pieces from set 1382: Scary Laboratory to build this. It's the first time I've ever bought a set and not built it - I only bought it for the cool minifigs. Given the nature of the pieces in that set, it was fairly straightforward to make something that looked old and almost unused - I wanted Tabletown to have at least one "historic" building instead of just skyscrapers and modern housing. My 4-year old daughter recently named this "Ghost Tower" because of the spooky inhabitant who lives in the observation deck. Red lights were added to the top of the spire for airplane navigation purposes - the historians kicked up a fuss, but it was fairly easy for the corrupt Mayor of Tabletown to liquidate them and do it anyway. Ghost Tower is situated near the Marina in Tabletown, right at the end of Edge Road (excuse the dust, my rolling program of cleaning is still ongoing!). Dr. S.
  20. I have never, in my entire life, met another AFOL in person. :-( Either I'm very sad or just anti-social. :-P Anyway, I voted for "Sock" and "A Doll". :-) Dr. S.
  21. I'll get my coat... :-D Dr. S.
  22. Awesome! Is that General Veers I can see on the box? Dr. S.
  23. I know I'm a noob here, but I am an Administrator of some years' standing on another, very large (non-LEGO) forum - and what you have here is special, stay clear of the controversial off-topic stuff, it can be a real killer, trust me on this. Dr. S.
  24. Watching footage of "Le Tour" today as it wound its way through the UK streets, I reckon LEGO should do a new range of TDF sets. Looks like they had some back in 2000 - no sure how I missed them at the time (no, that's incorrect, I was focussing on my forthcoming marriage at the time!) - but, alas, there are none on eBay. :-( http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=1196-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=1197-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=1198-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=1199-1 I think a new range would be cool - they could wear helmets similar to the A-Wing Rebel technician in set 6207, the largest set could be a small cyclist's "village" with a medical centre, podium, bike repair centre, TV crew - big TV screen, grandstand, TLG could make more than one team this time - perhaps they could even make a race-type set where LEGO bicycles are projected from a launcher thingy. What do you think? Dr. S.
  25. IIRC, since they sold the Legoland parks it's run as a franchise - so they'll have to buy the sets in like anyone else (I think?). Dr. S.
