  1. Just a reminder that this competition is still here (amongst all the other madness going on! :-D ) and we only have one entry so far - we're a week in, so get those thinking caps on and fit your special building hands so you can enter! Dr. S.
  2. Interesting MOC - I like the tree, lots of cool guest appearances. Wanders off...dreaming that Doctor Sinister might one day rank Guest Star status in something cool... :-D Dr. S.
  3. GoodSkellers is brilliant - I love the opening frame! Dr. S.
  4. Beautiful! :'-) It has action, intrigue, suspense, and those dark shots are AMAZING! *wub* In the Batman comics - are the Police really so corrupt? I never knew this! This is a genuine question BTW, I'm not trying to be smart or anything... 8-| Dr. S.
  5. Not my picture, I've linked to the original on the site. Dr. S.
  6. That's LEGO Modulex - used by Architects to design buildings. There are some people who make MOCs with it - it's rather nice. Dr. S.
  7. Here you go! http://web.archive.org/web/20021208201834/...mf/bellygun.htm Dr. S.
  8. Actually, according to this site, it's near the boarding ramp, which would make sense. Dr. S.
  9. I believe it's at the bottom of one of the front mandibles. Dr. S.
  10. This guy has a Flymo... Dr. S.
  11. For some reason Brickset refuses to accept any changes I make to my profile, but according to the site I own 393 unique sets, which seems lower than a lot here. 8-| Dr. S.
  12. 8-| I'm not knocking it incidentally...your stuff is very cool, clean, precise. Dr. S. It's not the ground. It's actually a metal patio table - one of those types with lots of intricate metalwork with holes in. I find it's better for getting shots looking upward to have the subject on a raised area, naturally, and the table was weird enough under the light to sort of add to the unearthly effect. Dr. S.
  13. I've been avoiding this thread as I no longer have any pets. :'-( Here they are: They were named Fox and Dana and were pedigree Siamese sealpoints. I got them in 1999. Fox died just over two years ago of heart failure, nothing I could have done or known about - genetic apparently. It broke my heart. He was the loveliest, most gorgeous, faithful, intelligent animal ever. I even taught him to play fetch. He was too young to die at 6 years old. His sister Dana died when I was away on holiday this year. She was beautiful, a little skittish, but inquisitive, daring, funny and loving. She died twelve hours after the person looking after her took her to the vet on my orders from France as she had suddenly become ill. She died of the same thing as her brother. I never even got to say goodbye. :-( Dr. S.
  14. Yes, I think I'm going to stop there as it's my favourite from this evening - I think I've cracked what I was trying to achieve, sort of. Thanks! Dr. S.
  15. I'm not sure, maybe during the holidays, I have a load of shelves in my office where some small miscellaneous LEGO sets and pieces live - my LEGO Daleks live there for example, so I expect they'll join them there in time. Right now they are testing my Skele-Go Disintegrator which I've put on my desk for storage so the Tabletown authorities can't abuse it. :-) Dr. S.
  16. Thanks natelite! Dr. S.
  17. Three more... And no, I don't smoke - never even had a puff in all my 36 years. :-) But it would be a cool effect... ;-) Couldn't quite get your "fog" effect to work... :-( Dr. S. Which EF set would I need? I DO need to get some light-up bricks, this would solve a host of problems. Dr. S.
  18. Right then - try these latest two for size... Off to find some thin material...back in a bit... Dr. S.
  19. That's just it though, I'm not using a flash at all, I've turned it off as it gives really horrible effects. The problem is arising because the light I have is too direct. Yes, what you say makes sense, the opaque screen idea is the way to go I think, but I'm wondering how I could rig a setup like that which is portable and compact - not to mention inexpensive (need money for LEGO!). :-) Does anyone have any experience with this? This second picture uses a 2nd light source, I know it's still not quite there, but is it any better do you think? Argh, no, not Photoshop! :-D I have it here, I use it for work on another website I work for but I refuse to use it in my LEGO pictures as I think it's cheating. I like to try and get "pure" effects. I know what you suggest would work, I just don't want to go down that route. Dr. S.
  20. My first thought too! Dr. S.
  21. Remember - don't eat the yellow snow! Cool pictures, thanks. Dr. S.
  22. Ah, now this is why I'm glad I posted it as it's always handy to get tips. Thanks *yoda* . I wonder if a reflected light source would work better - or some kind of fabric in front of the light source to sort of spread it out a bit more? I must play around a bit more - but it's too cold outside now. I'm using a Sony H1 digital camera, it's pretty cool and I have loads of lenses etc for it but I'm not a trained photographer so I usually just muddle around until I get something that looks half decent. :-) Dr. S.
  23. Well, I'm just testing some effects out, you get a really rich black at night so I'm going for contrast. Thanks for your input though. Dr. S.
