  1. I love these painting recreations, top notch! Dr. S.
  2. Thanks - I'm not totally happy with it, but it is growing on me. As for the brick - I have a load of those - I was at a LEGO event and they had brought their brick engraver along - for an extra charge they would colour the text for you. Expensive though... Dr. S.
  3. This is probably the last military ground vehicle I will be pressing into service for the Tabletown Army - well, for a while at least. My brief here was to complete a trio of vehicles so that the Tabletown troops actually had something to ride around in, and to keep it to the same style as the Triumph Class LAVs and the Aggressor Class MBT. I'm not 100% happy with it - but then, how exactly do you make an APC look "interesting" given that it's just a big metal box for carrying soldiers around? So, on the basis that I may upgrade it or change it, I'm going to call this the Infiltrator, Mk 1. The Infiltrator is larger than I expected it to be, it's purpose is of course to ferry troops into battle in relative safety. As you'll see, it uses many of the same characteristics as the previous military vehicles I've constructed and this was a primary consideration. The Infiltrator generally has one driver as crew, although two can sit up front if necessary - the second seat might be used by a troop commander for example. Atop the vehicle are twin 20mm "autocannon" - computer controlled robotic guns mounted on a motorised turret. These weapons are intended to lay down suppressing fire as the Infiltrator moves into position, and to defend the vehicle if attacked. It can also be used to provide covering fire for advancing troops, "fixing" an enemy in position with withering fire whilst the troops outflank the enemy positions. Here is a side view. Unlike other vehicles serving with the Tabletown Army, the Infiltrator is not capable of fording rivers in a submerged state and NBC protection is limited to three hours due to the strains placed on internal life support systems with troops on board. Atop the autocannon turret is a small sensor that uses RADAR and infra-red to locate targets. Ammunition is fed from boxes inside the crew compartments. Designed by Sinister Industries, a division of S.INC, the Infiltrator features the same bars mounted on the side armour which can electrify the hull to prevent enemy infantry assault. The troop compartment to the rear can carry up to six fully-armed and equipped soldiers, a full Tabletown Army Squad. Egress is made via the rear hatch which raises to allow the troops to hit the ground running. This also provides a small degree of protection to disembarking troops from airborne threats. The Infiltrator's armour is heavy for an APC, but incapable of withstanding heavy fire and it is not recommended for use in direct combat where the risk of return fire might disable or destroy it. In practical terms this means that the Infiltrator will generally withdraw once its load of troops are in position if anything above small arms fire is threatening it. Here we see the complete set of vehicles, from left to right, an Aggressor Class MBT, an Infiltrator Class APC and a Triumph Class LAV. As can be seen from this image, the Tabletown Army has already begun using the Infiltrator Mk 1. Dr. S.
  4. I've built an APC as well now, similar design, but I'm not currently 100% happy with it. I may post pictures later, I'm not sure...I may sleep on it. Dr. S.
  5. Fixed! Change it to a tile instead of a plate and the gun sits dead level! *y* Dr. S.
  6. Thanks! It does use a lot of pieces from 7992 but there are a lot of other odds and ends in there as well, more so than were used in the Triumph. For example, you'll need to have a reasonable supply of green plates of varying sizes as that's how the hull levels are built up. Nothing too exotic though. Dr. S.
  7. Very nice! Dr. S.
  8. If you remove a single 1x2 plate the gun will go down, but I couldn't decide what looked better, pointing up a little or pointing down a little. :-D Dr. S.
  9. Following my construction of the Triumph Class LAVs, I decided Tabletown needed something heavier to engage the enemy forces of BestLockLand, and so here we are! This is the Sinister Industries Aggressor Class MBT (Main Battle Tank). Weighing in at 65 metric tons, the Aggressor is designed for one purpose and one purpose alone- to dominate any battlefield by engaging and destroying enemy armour. It performs this task superbly, and can even be used for secondary tasks, such is its versatility, but more of that later... Yes, again I'm using parts almost exclusively from set 7992 - the Container Stacker. Well, I like the green! This time, I've used pieces from two of those sets, plus a sprinkling of other bits for the usual greebling etc. I actually took apart two of my Triumph LAV's to build this monster - but don't worry, the parts are on order to restore my LAV Platoon to its full strength of four vehicles very soon. As you can see from the picture below, the Aggressor hugs the ground very tightly, but it has variable-height suspension to cope with bumpy rides. The Aggressor is equipped with a single 200-megajoule electro-magnetic rail gun capable of engaging targets with accuracy over a distance of up to five miles (assuming the target is visible of course). The gun features a central core which handles any recoil within the main housing and which can be swapped out for a new core in a matter of minutes by skilled engineers, although this is obviously not possible in the field. The Aggressor features a heavy-duty turret mounted on a low-chassis and carries thick armour resistant to most types of modern projectile. The Aggressor is sealed against all NBC threats, although in the case of this MBT, crewmembers would only be able to survive for up to three days on board as the Aggressor's hungry power systems would soon deplete its batteries and fuel supply. The Aggressor can also ford rivers and operate for brief periods underwater. Please go here and here for more details! Dr. S.
  10. Thanks! I am always nervous when I post a new MOC and your feedback is appreciated as I'm not a very confident builder, to be honest. These vehicles are actually quite heavy, given their size, and they have a low centre of gravity - they are very nice to play with, they really feel like they could be used in combat as they are fairly sturdy too, I love 'em! Dr. S.
  11. Thanks for the feedback Sinner! :-) You know, I was driving to work this morning and I was thinking "is it actually NBC or NCB?" and I thought I was probably wrong - my excuse is I was typing it at 02:00 AM. :-D I'll correct that on my website later, thanks for clarifying it for me. Yes, I bought 5 container stackers - I built one of the actual stacking machines and just used the containers from all the other sets with the express intention of filling up my harbour a bit and then using the green angled plates for something like this. Now I need to buy some more so I can try and knock up a Tank along similar lines to this vehicle so they all look similar - could be tricky. It helped that a shop near me was selling the stackers at half price. Dr. S.
  12. You aren't too late - it was extended to the end of the month - still plenty of time! Dr. S.
  13. Gambling and weapons manufacture, mainly. :-D Dr. S.
  14. Bloody great! That sunset shot - *wub* This is exactly the sort of thing I aim to achieve in my pix sometimes - brilliant! Dr. S.
  15. Yes, you correctly spotted where most of the parts came from! I like to set myself a challenge...in this case it was restricting myself as much as possible to using parts from that set - having built the actual containers for Tabletown. Waste not want not! :-D Dr. S.
  16. This is my first attempt at an AFV and also my first ever attempt at "mass-producing" a vehicle. This is the Sinister Industries Triumph Class LAV (Light Assault Vehicle), a twin-gun turretless fast-moving ground vehicle. Equipped with two 50-megajoule fast repeating plasma cannon, the Triumph is ideal for both urban engagements with its short length and no extended barrels to snag on buildings, and for open territory with its heavy wheels and fast rate of speed. Encased in advanced classified armour plating, the Triumph emits a minimal heat signature due to the dispersion vents placed behind the main gun capacitors. These vents ensure that the heat generated from the onboard turbine is cooled rapidly over a wide surface area. The Triumph is fully amphibious and can even operate submerged for brief periods, making it ideal for fording rivers if bridges have been destroyed during earlier combat operations. The single crewmember is fully protected from all NCB type threats and can survive for up to five days encased inside his vehicle - although he probably wouldn't want to. However the Triumph is only classed as a Light Assault Vehicle due to its inability to directly face down modern Main Battle Tanks which would easily be able to penetrate the armour. The twin plasma cannon have the ability to fire at elevated angles for long range bombardment or in an anti-air capacity, thus making the Triumph an excellent all-round offensive and defensive platform. A view from above. The lack of a rotating turret does mean a slower rate of turn for the main guns as the entire vehicle has to rotate to face its target, but there is a significant weight saving. The bars along the side serve a dual purpose - they act as passive sensor arrays to detect threats and also assist with the targeting of the plasma cannon - providing a stereoscopic view of the target to the driver on board. If necessary, the bars can also be energised to electrify the hull of the vehicle to deter enemy infantry from any potential assault. The Tabletown Army has today taken delivery of sixteen platoons of four vehicles - here we see Doctor Sinister, Mayor of Tabletown, posing with the new acquisitions. PLMKWYT! Dr. S.
  17. Well, if you type the product numbers in the search box, all is revealed... EDIT, see above. :) Dr. S.
  18. The person above me said some very nice things about my website and I was upset when I saw him get chambered. I still suffer from the nightmares... Dr. S
  19. For a laugh really...I have to say, I am so SO nervous every time I am about to post pictures of a new Vig' or whatever (not so many whatevers) - I don't know what would be worse, never-ending responses of "that sucks" or no replies at all...but I still occasionally post things and then I panic and worry until the first reply. Dr. S.
  20. Best one yet! Dr. S.
