CMF Series 21 Guessing game.
Digger of Bricks replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Eh, does that "Airplane Suit Girl" mean I get half-a-point for my Aviatrix guess? -
Just as lovely as ever @Robert8! My favorite from this Calendar so far has to be your Winter Village Collector, while the two "Snow Twins" are simply adorable (love the scarves and the squirrel)!

Well, having been absent around here for about a month, you'd think official pics of a new CMS would drag me back; and yet one week later, only now I'm sharing my thoughts, and there's just not much to say. Even in spite of the debut of some long-desired archetypes from this Series (the Beekeeper, Space Cop, and a Centaur), it just feels so underwhelming as a whole, as I find all the designs leaving much to be desired. Plus, it really doesn't help that three "costumed" CMF still are taking up a quarter of this newly reduced line-up (and on a personal note, that Airplane Suit Girl could've easily been an Aviatrix for crying out loud)... Cynicism aside though, the Jaguar Warrior is rather decent, and the Space Cop's simplicity does have a more "Classic" charm about it.

Heh, kinda amusing that projects based upon James Cameron's Avatar and Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender should both make the same review... Huh, I don't believe a submission based upon a Ghibli film has ever achieved support? Should be interesting to see how it'll fare in review. -
Seasonal Parts and Minifigs We Need!

Of course, I wholeheartedly second this suggestion! Outside of Thanksgiving, I've also really wanted to see a pair of "Dickensian" carolers much like @Robert8's designs for awhile now... -
[SPOILER] The Mandalorian Discussion

So, anyone here have any thoughts to share about the second season's premier? While I may have liked the first season enough, I wasn't exactly crazy about it like everyone else. However, I have found the second season's first episode to be quite a promising ride... -

Yep, following the DuckTales subreddit has really been keeping me educated on all those deep-cut easter eggs, helping me further my appreciation of the show even if I am a casual newcomer to the fandom... P.S. Do you know if fandom subreddits are the best place/platform to discuss these shows, or is there somewhere else I'm missing out on such? -
A most fitting conclusion to this calendar, and a design I surprisingly dig in spite of its simplicity! Particularly, I admittedly find those new arms really cool, as they'd justify the archetype's place in a real CMS where I'd otherwise find its existence redundant. Looking most forwards to Christmas!!!

You're right. I guess I shouldn't complain since true action/adventure shows are hard to come by these days. Those shows you mentioned I couldn't get into either, which is a shame since they do have potential to be great shows if they focused on the story more. I never even watched Owl House since it already looked like just another Star-type show. I was just comparing this reboot to the original. And for many, I think this is the problem. They compare it to the original too much and can't accept the changes. One of the main things I appreciate about Gravity Falls & DuckTales is how they don't take their protagonists off to another realm/dimension like The Owl House or Amphibia do, instead keeping their fantastical adventures grounded to the reality they reside in. Star vs. the Forces of Evil on the other hand is more like Rick & Morty in that it splits its time 50/50 between its "home" dimension and others outside of that. -
Wow @LegoGuy03, not just a talented CMF artist, but an excellent BrickHeadz designer too!!! Your My Little Pony designs in particular are quite amusing, I don't believe I've ever seen anyone caricaturize those guys as such before...

Dangit, rebooted Batlord Basil is awesome! That's what should've been Series 19's Fright Knight (his new sword mold in particular is just plain cool)! Also, a hairpiece like Mirror Ghost's one would be sorta cool to see from Lego, and I wasn't expecting a house brand Balrog...

Actually, how does he differ from that previous design? Entirely different inspirations between the two?

Oh yeah, now I remember you bringing that up on your BrickHeadz MOC topic several years ago... For me, that vintage, halftone art style was one of the main things that actually drew my attention to the show... Well, in spite of that heavier focus on characters that you mentioned in comparison to the original (which again I've not yet seen), at least its adventure element still seems stronger when compared to other modern Disney shows I've looked into. I've tried getting into shows like Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Amphibia, and The Owl House per the advice of others suggesting shows to check out after Gravity Falls, but none of them really cut it for me like DuckTales did. Actually, it's kinda strange that its fanbase doesn't seem to be as big as those other shows' are, and hence it's seldom suggested by others in their "if you liked Gravity Falls" lists... Given that they released it free-to-watch on YouTube right away, pretty much everyone's convinced that's what's going on... How weird that I've never even heard of it before... ...looking into it, I guess it's because it was initially released in Southeast Asia before arriving here? -
Oh, so that's what those are! I guess it was supposed to be obvious...

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Digger of Bricks replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
At least an in-house playtheme with a heavy Atompunk vibe taking after Fallout's own heart would be much appreciated. Maybe something like Alien Conquest 2.0 could be the ticket, except with an even stronger 1950's vibe all around; and such a theme could even evoke Fallout's post-apocalyptic setting, with a conflict between the extraterrestrial invaders and rag-tag survivors of the invasion rather than a Halo-esque military force.- 451 replies

Disney Princesses 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm pretty sure the character is intended to become a part of the Disney Princess pantheon, at least from a merchandising standpoint. -
Though that project may have achieved support only to be rejected in review, @paokus has nevertheless decided to give a train station another go over at Ideas, this one even lovelier than the last! LEGO Ideas - The East Gate by Bricky_Brick

Anyone here checking out or keeping up with the current DuckTales reboot? Of all the modern Disney cartoons I've looked into after finishing Gravity Falls, the DuckTales reboot is the one I've found myself the fondest of, and I've never even seen the original or any of the other classic Disney Afternoon shows from then! In spite of such, it's been a ton of fun researching all the easter eggs and deep-cut references they've worked into this show's lore and worldbuilding, and the most recent one-hour Darkwing Duck special was a pretty fascinating example of that... -
You're most welcome! I'd still be interesting in seeing your previous work even if it is license-based rather than original...

Nice... ...the paring of Turquoise & Red works really well for this design, and his brainy cranium is a nice nod to Mars Attacks...
