LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BacktoBricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If the cyborg isn't included, then it's possible Lego didn't know it was controlling the mech. The material they were working off might not have shown that. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BacktoBricks replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
I find it extremely interesting that they have allowed fan media to publish the leaked image. They've officially acknowledge its existence. Surely if it was a culture issue they wouldn't have allowed that? Yes it was leaked, but that could have been passed off as a model that was never going to get made. Couple this with the 'consolidation' statement, I'd say it might be more of a case of Lego or Lucasfilm, or indeed both, hedging their bets and deciding to streamline the products released at launch in case the movie doesn't do too well. As such the Temple of Doom might have been considered the most problematic and thus have either been shelved or put on the back burner for a later date if another wave seems commercially viable. After all, it wouldn't surprise me that Lucasfilm or even Lego might get cold feet this late into production if they decided to change their marketing plan for the movie. I could be way off base obviously, just my thoughts. -

Are there? I just watched Bricksie's review and he says there are no printed elements. Happy if that's incorrect though. -

Very disappointing that there is no printed elements in the Temple of the Golden Idol; even the quote is a stickers. But the technicality of the set is spectacular. I also personally love all the rock faces made out of a multitude of small elements. -

Oh I know. I'm behind you, it's just tickles me that Lego is insinuating this is Lucasfilm's, aka Kennedy's as the face of the brand, fault. -

We are talking about a Lego and Lucasfilm collaboration here ... This seems like standard business. -

Happy Birthday! That thought of that makes me go cold. Does make me appreciate the HP line more though. Should have known Kathleen Kennedy would get drawn into this. 🤣 -

Wow. I don't know how you do it! I imagined you'd have to crawl over bricks to even get out of bed. Do you have a dedicated Lego room or just cabinets all over? I have to figure out what not to use my shelves for. As for the instruction leaks, it did take a few days between the Disney sets popping up on the Instructions page and the reveal, but considering we have set reviews for Indy already any reveal seems superfluous for our purpose anyway. I think the Temple has met its namesake. Short Round's had enough excitement for this week it seems. -

So I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the Frodo and Gollum Brick Headz is no longer listed for sale on the UK website. If you do a general Google search you can find the product page, but it says it's a gift with purchase. So I'm wondering, has it just confused Lego's system having it as a GWP and it should still be for sale, or do they intend for it to be absent at the moment to make the gwp more appealing and it will come back on sale once the promo is over, or will it now remain unavailable for purchase after the promo period. 🤔 -

Thank you @NostalgicBricks The photo had to be shrunk because of the EB file size limit so it's a bit grainy I know, but I think it shows the idea. Haha sounds like you're a secret Slytherin. I never had the sets with the cardboard back drops as much as I did want them. I did have Hagrid's Hut and the original castle with the paper roofs and my goodness was the Hagrid's Hut one annoying. Glad we have moved on from those. Not sure I love the idea of too much cardboard in sets, but I get the use for the banners although I think it has inflated the price tag. I really want the minifigures from the banners, but not the builds (Lego definitely knows what they are doing here) so can't justify dropping full price for them, but hopefully will be able to get them discounted pretty soon and certainly before they retire at the end of the year or find the minifigures cheap enough. I hope you have a great time building the set. It's a quick build, but very colourful. @krimimimi The shark piece is very cool. The only problem is the fact that his legs needed dual moulding really, but I'm still chuffed to bits we got him. Harry needed dual legs too really, but that is excusable as they haven't done dual moulded mid legs yet. I hope you get your sets soon! My most desired minifigure from this year has to be the merperson. Such a cool minifigure that looks very movie accurate and I wanted the old one really bad, but this one is such an improvement and I love it! So that and probably the Grindylow are my most wanted pieces from the March sets. I do love that we are getting a couple more uniform variations. I would love to see one in the future with a sleeveless jumper print, particularly a Gryffindor one like Neville is seen wearing in the Room of Requirment scenes in Order of the Phoenix. -

I stayed up until midnight last night waiting for the new sets. Whilst Lego kicked me out into a queue, Amazon not only had the new sets available but even ordering just after midnight they were able to deliver the same day. So I got myself the new Black Lake set. First set I've ever actually managed to get a set on release day. Fast forward a few hours and the set arrived and I've now got it built and on display. It's so cute and colourful. I added a transparent bar to pose Harry and Krum on, something I think Lego could have included or your a bit limited from a display point of view, and now all I could wish for is a CMF Series 3 so as to get Cedric and Fleur in their second task outfits to go with the set as I can't see where else we would get those figs. But I'm so glad they redid this set; I had just gone into my dark age when the first Goblet Of Fire wave came out and I have loved the old set since getting back into Lego but the price had gone crazy high. So glad I waited as this one is a decent upgrade and I finally have a merperson and also a cheeky little Grindylow. -

From memory it was Boushh, Chewbacca, moulded Jabba and brick built Han in Carbonite. Quote unknown. -

Well that's another one I won't be getting, the epitome of the boring grey triangle, but I'm kind of glad when there's Gringotts coming out and Rivendell too. The set number mix up is worrying though, although people seemed to know too much about the Jabba's Palace diorama for me to think it isn't out there somewhere. -

I can't say, but I'd be surprised if it hadn't. People seem to want the figs. I can't see it having sold more poorly than other sets that get longer runs. -

It retired at the end of last year. It did. I always thought it strange to retire the show's flagship set just before Season 2 started. Even if Season 2 hadn't been delayed it still would have been as the show was airing. -

Great poly! Now just to find her a nice soft navy cape. Bricklink here I come. 🤣 Also, a poly not using a cape piece doesn't necessarily mean that they are doing away with them for Quidditch players as it could just be a cost thing, but maybe they are going to go this way with all the houses now. I thought the Quidditch Trunk set would include the jumpers from the new banners, but maybe there will be a mix. Who knows. But little Harry with his red cape did look so cute though. 😃 -

I just think they might put Dodonna in there because the X-Wing is retiring this year so there won't be much overlap and he's already made etc. They could have even made him for the X-Wing set knowing they would be making a Yavin base. And he is a memorable character from the base scenes. -

Kinglsey and Tonks also work well together with a purple colour scheme. They sound like a fun Brickheadz set, but I'm still staying away from that line. It's cool to think not how many characters we have in Brickheadz form now though for those who like them. -

So what 12 minifigures do you think we’ll get with the Yavin base? I’m thinking maybe: Luke (would love to see the poncho piece return but I’m guessing he’ll be in his orange jumpsuit rather than Tatooine garb), Han, Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, Biggs Darklighter, Jek Porkins, Wedge Antilles, General Dodonna, Rebel Technician, Rebel Fleet trooper and then maybe Vander to go with the Y-Wing microfighter or just another astromech.
