LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BacktoBricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
All I can think is, it's either to do with the young Jedi series or Lego has previously connected the swamp speeder with Kashyyyk and Yoda and his interceptor goes with Kashyyyk and they seem to like doing a couple of Kashyyyk sets in a wave. When they did the Droid Gunship for instance in 2019 they also did the AT-AP. -

Cruella looks so much better with that smiling face. Her, Pocahontas and Mulan are probably my favourites as I adored those movies as a child. Just wish we got Meeko and Mushu, but still. Baymax looks the worst to me. He just needs to be bigger really, more like Hagrid. Now really hoping Merida shows up this year in minifigure form. -

What about a buildable C3PO? I mean they said they wouldn't do a bust of a droid, but they never said they wouldn't do all of one. -

Do they both have to be ships? What about something buildable like an ewok? -

Depends what scale they do really. And he said 'smaller' set, so I took that as not necessarily small, just one of the smaller sets of the wave. The only musings I could think of regarding Dooku was something along the lines of someone asking M&R if Dooku could be coming this year, him saying he could only see him potentially coming in sets he didn't know about so a very slim chance, so probably no Dooku. This then got turned into 'Dooku could be coming in a set' kind of rumour i.e. something from nothing. At least that's what I can gather. -

I'd like a Karkaroff in general. Hoping to see a Durmstrang ship in one of those unknown slots. -

I've just received a Standard parts order from mid January. I ordered the black cloth collar piece for Slytherin from the Hogwarts Castle, but I too received the full carboard sleeve from the set with the other capes in there too. Which is great as that one part was over £4, but also annoying as I had already sourced the capes elsewhere. -

To be fair, some kids might love cheap Star Wars character mechs. It's just us AFOLs who will cry out like Luke on Bespin at the thought of that concept taking up set slots. But for a kid, a cheap(er) way to get a minifigure of Darth Vader etc would probably be great for them. For the theme, if you want to pair a minifigure with a cheap build then microfighters make more sense to me, but I'm sure the battle aspect of mechs would appeal to many children. -

Yeah that's what I meant by reveal, just officially put the product out there with a product page on their website. But they have a habit of leaving it so close with some sets that they get 'revealed' or 'leaked' elsewhere and it just makes them look a bit incompetent. Maybe Disney has a say in this one, not that the product reveals anything of the new film. Either way, definitely an anti-climax this one. Even the minidolls look off to me. :( -

Interesting that the book wasn't officially revealed but seems to have been put out on a store shelf early yet again. Don't know why Lego's holding out on revealing it. 😆 -

Well that's disappointing. :( Does that mean the Disney train will have minidolls then I wonder. I know the books are normally minidolls so it might be the exception in the list and the rumour said minifigures for the train, but as it's at a relatively cheap price point and a 4+ set I have to wonder now. Hopefully it will be more like the Mickey 4+ sets, but with good looking minifigures. -

We're getting Rita Skeeter, but she's in the more expensive DK book rather than the cheaper Ameet ones. -

Hmmm yes I think you're right. Ron would have looked better I think with a plain black version of Draco's hat and Draco could have had a guard hat. Even a black recolour for the bobble hat would have felt better as the blue is very bright, but maybe they are plumping for a colourful festive look to catch the eye. I don't think double sided head is necessary so it could have worked. Oh well, I love Hermione's recolour. -

I think so too. Do you know if there's anything more like Draco's actual hat in Lego? Guessing not or they would have gone for it. -

@Textorix That's the one. They've recoloured Fred and George's CMF hairpiece which is obviously not accurate as Ron doesn't have long red hair showing and has his ears covered, but I don't think they have a similar hat piece do they? -

As far as I know though (I don't collect them) all the cloth pieces in the CMFs have been the soft fabric and more malleable. Whereas the new invisibility cloak is more firm now than the one that came in the CMF. The CMF packets are also larger than the advent sections so it would have to be folded and they don't seem to want to do that fresh out of the factory probably because it would create a crease which would stay fairly ingrained. And flat it wouldn't fit into the standard advent calendar section. Not saying they can't do it by changing the section size etc just that I don't think it likely. -

I doubt it purely because Lego advent calendars tend to have doors of equal size and the carboard sleeve for the invisibility cloak is bigger than each section. They could change the layout of course, but I'm guessing they won't as it would probably add to costs, and if they didn't the cloak piece would have to be out of the cardboard sleeve and folded to fit and I don't think they'd do they either.
