  1. I guess it's about time for another update... So, I took a bit of a break from building the last few days, as I decided to build the 42082 I bought a few weeks ago. Unfortunately that means that I don't have anything to show right now, but I'll most likely have something in a day or two. In the meantime, any feedback or suggestions for the above version (as that's pretty much what I have now) are more than welcome.
  2. What a great eggsample of the versatility of Lego!
  3. Personally, I'd prefer the next contest to be just "Build a Car" - no rules or limits besides the standard ones. IMO it would make for a lot more entries.
  4. Yes, but it would also mean that I'd need to build in even dimensions Thanks! Update time! Over the last couple of days I managed to work out the design (well, the prototype at least) for both of the main functions - the drive train: And the collective pitch control: Also, as you probably already noticed, I added the angled front - just like the one the original has - and strengthened the seats.
  5. Looks great, I like how you left an opening so you can see the engine
  6. Sort of, I'm aiming for roughly 3/4 scale, but at the moment I'm kinda just trying to get the mechanics built.
  7. Small update... I didn't have much time to build today, but I still thought I'd have a go at the main rotor: Surprisingly, despite it's terrible construction, it actually works quite well...
  8. Definitely my silliest idea/MOC: IMO TC12 set the bar for silly MOCs... And of course, there's useless machines:
  9. That will be my next project - I won't have time to build both for the contest
  10. Yes, I forget to mention that the rotor is currently only a temporary placeholder.
  11. It's finally here - my studless remake of the very first Technic helicopter: It's been a bit of a long journey to get here, not only because of the work put into this model, but also because of the many failed TC15 entry ideas... Originally, I had planed on building a replica of the Hoversurf S3 2019 Hoverbike (which is basically a quadcopter you can ride on), but the small size of Lego propellers restricted me to such a small size, that I just couldn't fit any functions into it. Next, continuing the idea of some sort of quadcopter, I did some googling for other quadrotor aircraft, and although I managed to find some (in particular, the Curtiss-Wright VZ-7 and X-19), that idea also failed... Then, after a few days of thinking, I decided to just make something completely different - a flight simulator, based on the 8485 Technic Control Center. With this idea, I actually managed to make enough progress to post a WIP topic, and stuck with it for a several weeks, until I sadly had to abandon that as well... Finally, after trying and abandoning a few other ideas, and with only a few weeks left before the contest deadline, I stumbled across the idea of making a modern studless version of set 852 - the very first Technic helicopter, and one of the original four Technic sets released in 1977: Fast forward 3 weeks, the contest deadline has thankfully extended by 2 weeks (thanks @Jim ), and I've finally finished building... Features: Full studless construction - not a single stud in sight! Near perfect 3/4 scale (relative to the original set). Accurate collective rotor pitch control - unlike the original, where the rotor pitch is decreased when the swash plate rises. Manually powered drive train - can also be motorized, as seen in the video. 12. Not really, there are tutorials, but none of them cover all the steps required to make a render like the one I posted above. I'm actually planing on making my own tutorial/guide, similar to the one made for POV-Ray, on how to make the exact render I posted above.
  13. Yes I do, I don't think a Bugatti telehanlder will be made any time soon...
  14. Hmm... That might be a fun future project for myself, as I just recently got 42083... If that's what you want to do, then you should - stick to what you're good at, and you'll get much better results.
  15. I'd say to make the separate instructions for the modules, put them in a ZIP file, and distribute that. PDF files compress quite a bit when put in a ZIP file, so you also end up with a smaller total download.
  16. As far as I know, these are all the render engines that have been used for rendering Lego: POV-Ray Bluerender (which actually uses the SunFlow render engine) Blender's Cycles Blender's EEVEE Stud.io's EyeSight (which uses a version of Cycles) LDView and LGLite (which are mostly only used for rendering instructions) I personally have used POV-Ray and Stud.io, but I've recently started to move towards using Cycles, due to how photorealistic it's renders can be:
  17. I was thinking that too, but how would it be faded so evenly - not even a little bit of it isn't faded? Also, how could it be so close to light yellow - normally faded parts are off color?
  18. Thought I'd share the rarest (colored) parts I have: All the parts on the left of the silver beam are only in a single set, and all the parts on the right (including the silver beam, but excluding the part in the bottom right corner) are only in 2 or 3 sets. Now, the part in the bottom right corner (part 32167) seems to be a bit rarer than any of the other parts I have, as by what I could find, it was never produced in light yellow - only in black and yellow... I have no idea where it could have come from (though obviously I got it from a bulk lot), but it certainly was a surprise when I found out about it...
  19. And there will soon be another one... Thanks for updating the topic too BTW, I was actually thinking of asking you what the new end date was.
  20. Most likely there was a tiny amount of sweat from building on it, which dried up overnight...
  21. Wait, those are your new scales? I certainly wasn't expecting something like that...
  22. It's probably just that then, it should be fine with a higher render quality.
  23. Just upload it to Bricksafe, and copy/paste the download link. (not the Bricksafe page)
