Saved my allowance for that one, it was the biggest pirate set I could afford. Spent so many hours playing with that fort, ahhh.... the memories!

Thank you, Bonaparte. I have been really thinking about the different material that they have been using, wondering why it's different? Cheaper perhaps? Wrong mixture? Different Ingrediants?. And then I was sorting a bin of legos I bought off of craigslist and I saw a lemon yellow looking brick and pulled it out because it looked like the lemon like hands in the TTT set, and it is a megablock. I will try to post a picture of the TTT hands next to the lemon yellow megablock and old lego yellow.

Thanks for the review Einstein, knew these would come out eventually, but interesting how LEGO snuck them into stores without anybody getting pics. I agree with on on those Soldier Knights, should of been Cannons, or a soldier with red legs and red epaulettes. I do love chess, but would probably only get this for figs, and I'm saving my money for Soldier Arsenals and Cannon Battles when they go on clearance. Also hoping there will be another run at Pirates in 2010. It would be sad if it was one and done.

Wow, yeah I would be more angry if I had spent a $1000 on TTT sets, but I only spent a Franklin, so I was just kind of mad. The Soldier Torso's and hands are the worse...everything else isn't as bad, but definately different quality. I will have to contact lego and lodge a complaint. I wonder if someone who is in charge of the magnet, battle pack molds isn't doing their job, and LEGO headquarters really doesn't know about the quality or if they do and are lying. Very interested in whats going on.

That brickbeard leg idea makes sense. I'm curious though as if perhaps my Tic-Tac Toe's were perhaps a bad batch. I ordered mine from S@H as my lego store still doesn't have them. So maybe other people who get TTT's can pull of an arm to verify. Glow in the dark!!! Terrible, no they are not that bad, and it does look worse on the pic, but they are that different.

The brown one with white spots or white one with brown spots? There is a difference :) If you have more horses for trade PM me, one indian horse sent to the US might not be it's worth in shipping.

Hey guys, some pics have been added. Let me know what you guys find in your sets. Again, if you don't have alot of money, this is a great way to get those figs that you've been wanting. Playability wise they have the same value, but the texture and look of the material or plastic used in these molds bothers me. It reminds me of ....dare I say...megablox!!!!!!

Yes, I will get a real black coat pic for you :) Work started back up so I have less free time than usual, but the weekend is drawing near. I really don't need these brick beards from the tic-tac toe set. They look to be all original quality except the cheap yellow hand, but your putting black hands on your figs anyway, right? I also have an extra Brick Beard torso and legs from the soldier fort. I'm always looking for spanish armada guys, horses, wolf pack, forestmen, peasants, black and brown tricorne hats, german torsos from indy set, ect. PM me if you have any wants or something else you I might want. Paul, thanks, It's a pretty funny pic. Joey, I love my original blue coats, but I collect the red coats too. I think I'm swaying towards Neutrality, like the Spanish! :)

Yeah, I didn't even open the other sets, thinking about trying to exchange them for battle packs because I was so upset. But now I think I will just put regular extra hands on my red coats and some of the pirates. I will try to take some reference pics tonight of both the 2 soldiers I was comparing.

LOL! I do really like your Black Coat invention :) I have 4 Brick Beards from the Tic-Tac-Toe if you need extra. I'll take redcoats in exchange :)

I keep going back to look, that is a sign of a great Moc. The design of the island is fantastic.

great review, thanks for taking the time to do it. I never could afford this set growing up and only had the forestmen from the minifig pack, but I think I will soon be able to obtain it.

I kind of knew that the quality wouldn't be as great, but I was expecting maybe the torso printing to suffer, not the legs, and torsos themselves. I don't remember the castle tic-tac-toes being like this, but then again, they had armor to cover up the torsos. I don't think I will buy any more, I will wait untill soldier arsenals or Cannon Battles go on clearance, but Swelt, you bring up a really good point, these are getting added into the bricklink inventory as we speak. Sad

So here are the pics I took. Again, I'm not saying "Don't spend your money on Lego" and I'm not saying "Don't buy this set" All I'm saying is you might be dissapointed if you are expecting the same quality lego parts that are in other sets. I wish I would of bought just one set, as I don't like the look of the material or quality used in the torso, hands and legs. It looks and feels cheap to me. It doesn't feel and look like Lego to me, but again I'm 31 and have been looking at lego for a long time and maybe I'm just used to seeing that true lego yellow. Maybe this is the wave of the future. Zorro I'm sure you won't believe me, and maybe your right, maybe the TTT sets are the same quality, but here are some pics that I took of one of the soldiers from the TTT set and one from the Soldiers Arsenal Set. The TTT' parts are on the left and the SA parts are on the right. You decide if there appears to be a difference. The torso's are both facing the same way yet the LEGO logo is facing opposite ways Notice the necks of the torsos, black print on the neck of the SA part, no print on the TTT part Notice the lemon looking TTT hand on the left in contrast to the more regular looking yellow yand, also note the dark shadow area of the arm hole in the SA part which contrasts with the TTT part. It's like light shines right through the plastic of the TTT part. Also note the numbe stamped on the TTT arm. Again, I'm not saying don't buy these, I'm just saying that I have noticed a difference and if I had known there is a difference I would of not bought fou sets and would of bought more cannon battles and soldier arsenals because I was mainly buying these for more soldiers. NOTE- Brick Beard's legs are not made of the same material of the rest of the figs, I believe he is a Brick Beard made of normal quality. Even his hand is darker and more opaque. Almost like the brick beards come from a different factory. I will pull his arms off and compare with Brick Beard from soldier fort and Bounty.

I will also check what torso is underneath the custom goblins armor, it's probably something cheap. Yes, I will take pay pal for anything left after I post the pic, because it's all going to ebay if it hasn't been traded.

Hey y'all, I hope you guys like these. Someone had better buy a few of these, they are too cool not to be worn. I'm going to get one, I can't decide between Where's Diego or God, Gold and Glory...hmmm...maybe I'll buy both. Let me know what you guys think. Yes, erdberries....islanders, islanders, I know. But a I do have a day job that keeps me from drawing all day :)

Hey man, I don't have Lobot's head, but you can find it pretty reasonable on bricklink. I'll trade the body for any soldier, indian, cavalry, forestman or wolfpack fig. I still have the Battle droid with the red body, genoshian torso and Marian Ravenwood fig. The fleshie obiwan is pending though. PM what you have besides the horse.
