  1. I am toying with the idea to sell my pirate minifigs in order to generate some funds to buy more western minifigs. And alas, I wondered if any of you swabs might have extra western figs lying around and were willing to swap for some pirate figs. I've got Governer Broadside x1 Blue Imperial soldier without neckgear X 4 Blue Imperial soldier with backpack and tall hat x1 Red Imperial soldier with tricorne x1 Saber Island pieces, no box or instructions. Complete minus one yellow brick Armada soldier with spanish helmet x1 The set he came with complete no box but have instructions Red Beard (is that his name?) x2 mix of pirates, striped shirts the guys with the blue shirts and eye patches assorted with brown tricornes and red and blue bandannas x10 Red Row Boats x5 I have quite a few canons, but havn't decided if I'm going to need them for my WW theme. I will take pictures if someone is interested in trading, peace.
  2. (A trio of bandits, from left to right: Ned Smith, Reb, Cactus Jack) I obtained these figures from a Craigslist Lot. Ned Smith is what you can do with those cheap Johnny Thunder heads, a plain white torso and black pants. Throw on a cowboy hat, a bandanna, and a pair of six guns, and you've got yourself the meanest buckaroo this side the Lego Grande. I'm not sure what set the Reb torso comes from, but I put the grey kepi from the rockraider guy in the lot on him and the black bandanna does him pretty good. I love the look of the sharps on him as well. Cactus Jack is just that Harry Potter torso. Some might not think in a good WW torso and legs, but I love it. I used that other Rock Raider head, it is one of my favs. Enjoy
  3. I forsee hours of fun with these creations. I like the all grey armor look with henrik. How many evil soldiers do you have? I think one would need at least twenty for henrik to slay. Again, nice job.
  4. I agree, he was probably locked up for self defense :)
  5. looks like someone is having fun :)
  6. Thanks for the kind words. I'll take some pictures of the figures individually. I'm awaiting a bricklink order, which should provide for some more interesting western customs. I always liked idea of the rogue confederates traveling west after the civil war. My favorite westerns always had these characters in them, so I guess they will play an important role in my mocs. And of course my favorite part of the genre are the Apaches, but I'm still working on custom head gear for those bad boys.
  7. It was one of those nights where the TV seems boring, and LEGO's sounded good. I was converting some non WW figs into western Bandits. Bad news for the Sheriff and co.
  8. Thanks brickster, we western boys need to stick together. I've started work up again which has taken away from time with Lego's and my home computer has a virus, so sadly no photoshop. But I'll be able to add some cool western mocs someday. Apache
  9. Nice western MOC. Keep em coming
  10. Nice Army your building there. The Union and Cavalry minifigs are perhaps my favorites, so I love seeing pictures of armies made of them. I'm not big on using tricorns over the cowboys hats. It definately looks like an early 1900 army. If that is the look, than you might want to use brown muskets and flintlock pistols than the gray revolvers. Nice forts. It looks like your ready to give us some Moc Battle pictures. :-D
  11. Entrance to the Caves and Legoredo Station are the best I have ever seen.
  12. Brickster, nice job on that stage coach. I'm new here, but as I delve into the Archives, I see you have some pretty neat Mocs. I'm not really into skeletons, but love your Western constructions. Keep em coming!! *skull*
  13. Nice Job man. I just recieved some Milliput in order to start sculpting LEGO weapons and accesories. What kind of sculpting medium are you using? Looks like some sort of gray putty. I'm also curious what kind of Sillicone and Resin you are using and if you like it. I just one to one sillicone from Micromark and there Castin Resin Kit, but havn't used it yet. Also, where in Arizona are you? I'm sunning myself in a nice Bantha mud wallow right now in North Phoenix. Keep sculpting those new helms, looking forward to the creations. My focus is going to be the Wild West and I would like to create some brand new swords. Peace Apache
  14. I'm back from the beach in California and all moved into my new place, ready to create some cool art. Hopefully some really cool LEGO art. I didn't scan in my torso sketches, I just drew on a photoshop document. Your right on about the shakeness and line wieght. I have an old wacom tablet and photoshop 7.0 The photoshop I have doesn't have the option to fill in areas or else I can't find it. I used to have Photoshop elements and could scan in a sketch or line drawing and fill in the areas with that paint bucket tool. I guess I could try to use Paint to fill in the scanned in sketch or drawing. The necktie needs to be resized in the first one as well, as it's way to big. I'll keep playing with these, I want to do some of the Cowboy characters from that film as well like Curly Bill, Ike Clanton, Johnny Ringo. Other Torso's that are on my list to make are.... -Mexican Bandit -Confederate (might not need one, as I have seen some of these allready customized) -Authentic Native Americans (No offense LEGO) -Gamblers -Farmers -Bankers -Shop Keep So many options.. Might as well post any new western torso's here once there made, no sense starting a new thread. Ahh, yes. I liked your background for your Mocs and avatar so was just fooling around in Photoshop and came up with that today. The Cavalry trooper is my favorite minifig. I love the whole WW theme, but I definatley love the troopers. Back to the drawing board. Apache
  15. Hey Tygs, Brick Miner and everyone else who is interested... here are two torso designs I was playing around with today. Doc Holiday based of Val Kilmer's DOC in Tombstone Wyatt Earp Miner, Bonnet and Vulture seem like possiblilites. The buffalo (lego style) might be hard for a resin mold. Gotta run, will be back soon. Peace
  16. I was reading some of your posts and read where you only create WW MOC's of the new sets because there aren't any new sets, but if there were new sets, you probably wouldn't make MOC's. Thats how I feel about making new elements. If there were a variety elements for WW and Pirates than I would have this urge to make them. I do want to experiment with my own armor and variety of swords for Castle but love the stuff that Red Bean has done, so won't focus on that many elements for that theme. And if LEGO introduced WW elements tomorrow, than I probably wouldn't have the urge. As for experience, I've never really had formal training in sculpting or graphic design. I really wanted to make lego quality accessories so I researched the whole ABS thing and it looks like with my budget, RESIN is what I will have to work with. I've never made molds before, so this is a new thing. From what I've read, its going to be a rough start, wasting lots of resin, but hopefully it will be rewarding once I get the hang of the casting part. I'm just one of those people who see's things and go, "I could do that" and that motivates me. The medium I work with the most is pencils but I have found that it's really easy to turn a drawing of a person into sculpture out of clay. This putty thing is going to be a new adventure and I'm craving the challenge. I read that you are a comic artist, NICE. How can I see some of your work? I always thought I was going to draw comics when I grew up, but I had alot of trouble with proportion for the longest time which hurt my self confindence. P.S. Alex Ross is one of my fav's. Other inspirations are Frank Frazetta and N.C. Wyeth. Ok, the cars loaded, see you later. Apache
  17. Nice Work Tyger. I was sketching Doc Holiday and the Earp torsos today. I used the same vest, tie, and side holster, but I have another bird handle revolver sticking out on the left. Ditto Brick Miner on that bartender, sweet. When I get back from vacation I'll use photoshop on the torso template and upload them here. Yours are very nice indeed. I ordered water decal paper, putty, and mold making stuff along with different resins from MicroMark so I'm ready to start customizing . I want to make an Earp style hat and Doc Holiday hat that sits across the side as well as other western accessories. I would love to be able to get them done in ABS, but let's be realistic. I'll keep you all posted. Apache
  18. I'm heading to Los Angeles for the holiday weekend, and when I get back I'm going to get started.
  19. Zouave, thanks for the compliment. I have more castle and want to get into WW, but will always have a place in my heart for the imperial soldiers defending against the pirate hordes :) I havn't had any dreams about lego, but I have been falling asleep thinking about sets, minifigs, customization... Great story and even greater WW mocs.
  20. Thanks SW. I tried to attach it, so had to put it into photobucket. Is there a way to upload photos from the computer right to the site, or do you have to have the image online?
  21. Vig. 4d "Defending Sabre Island" I'm 29 and am in the process of selling alot of what I own, because I frankly have too much junk. So I got out the storage bin of old legos and laid them out to take pictures to sell on Ebay and then it happened. I forgot about the bills, the car troubles, the heat, and felt like a kid again. So now I'm back in the lego craze, and here is the picture I took for fun instead of the ebay one. Hope it works.... 8-
  22. Keep these coming Brick Miner, I look forward to the next one. I have to admit I shed a tear...simple Brillant. I've just got back into legos and I plan on doing some western Mocs as well as custom western minifigs. Frankly, it's just plain FUN. Great job again, glad to know there are others out there who love the western lore and LEGO's!
