Issue with having the suspension attached to the lower control arm instead of the upper is that when you push the suspension many times, the bottom ball join stud loosens up and starts to deteriorate due to constant pinch as the stud slips out of the hole but stays inside while compressed. -
Generic Contest Discussion
Mechbuilds replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I feel like the contest voting system is too much effort. I'd rather just click a vote on a poll instead. So basically choosing which contestants moc is best in personal opinoin. Making a dedicated post and distributing points is enough effort for me to just not vote. I guess lazy voters don't count -
I honestly can't wait for adapters so you can plug the new motors into buwizz. I feel like the PoweredUp battery box is a massive chunk of wasted space.

I'm working on a truck. Here is my current state: To do: -Front axle -Rear axle(s) (i really want to make a second rear axle you can drop down.) -Mount buwizz somewhere. -Finish cabin. -Build rails for cargo solutions. Thoughts? -
Effe's MOC Corner

Can't wait to see a video of the suspension at work. Might want to use this on my own truck build as well! -
Update: https://bricksafe.com/pages/Mechbuilds/download-files# Made a second mockup of the front axle. I modified the connection near the hubs so the steering is as maximum as i can make it. Servo can turn 90 degrees left and right. And i also added the correct height and spot where the axle should be when resting. But connecting it to the frame is hard. Any ideas?

Already figured out how to make a pendular suspension for this using @Jurss's example. But i have a question: Is it okay to support the whole weight of this truck (approx lego arocs size and weight.) On top of just 2 technic black studs? What about 1 stud in front and turn table at back? Basically removed the ball cup beams at the front and used the 3 long pin with hole as a pivot point. Works but not sure about the weight..

I might attach the axle to the chassis differently though, because the axle would be too low so the car would have a monster truck vibe to it. But yeah i want the center of the tyre to be at the same height as the yellow 3 long ping on that ball cup arm where it attaches to the frame. So basically 3-4 studs higher.. But your solution of having the servo in the middle like that works for this chassis. If you can improve upon this setup, can't wait to see what you come up with! It's a great start! That sure is something i can work off of.

Effe's MOC Corner

Very interesting front axle! I see the suspension uses only up and down movement sliding down on that axle. Does it have any side movement when being compressed? -
It's basically the same exact frame as TLG's Arocs 42043 B model. The fake motor is replaced with an L motor. But i can still whip up that LDD if you need it? Front axle can be either pendular and springless or it can have a suspension with those yellow hard springs. Both works. I really want to use hubs instead of axles. EDIT: https://bricksafe.com/pages/Mechbuilds/download-files If i did it right, it should be there!

Basically i want a different style front axle that the solution on https://lego.vilvert.com/2017/01/04/42043b-advanced-rc/ 's.. The issue i'm having is that i want to use hubs instead of axle to attach the front tyres. The wheel will slide off the axle and wobble around. Is there an axle that could be attached to this frame that uses hubs and fits the servo there (or other servo solution) I guess i could move the gearbox one stud further back since this would be an 4x2 setup. (4 rear wheel driven and 2 front wheel steered.) Help! Also i could do with a front axle that's attached with a turntable instead. (springless pendular suspension) Since the rear axle will have suspension.

This suspension looks amazing.. I wonder if this same suspension can be built with the older style hubs and the drive coming from the middle, eliminating the need for U joints. If anyone wants to take a crack at this? Would make a sick offroad truck.. I wonder why SuperkTechnic doesn't post here or have anywhere you can reply to hes work. All comments disabled everywhere.. -

@aminnichFantastic work on that axle. I wonder if it can be made to work if it was driven by using the same airbag principle. That would really help a lot with semi truck suspensions. On a different note, what's it called when you have a 6x6 and the rear axles are connected to eachother by a beam that's pivoted in the middle? So when the front tire goes up, the rear goes down. And same sideways. Is it a pendular axle or what? I'm working on a semi truck again.. -

Do you have a picture of the mesh once the machine has made some? -

For official lego sets, dump the numbered bags on the table and push out the build fast. Afterwards breaking sets or mocs into bigger chunks that i disassemble one at a time and put the parts in organizers. (3 big ones currently. Desperately need a 4th one.) But most of the time my working table has one bin with chunks or parts to disassemble and organize and mocs that are too big for the bin laying on the table waiting to be disassembled. Always having current wip in the center of the table. So tidy but not that tidy. I also never keep mocs assembled over a month. They're always disassembled for the next project.

Aftwrmarket springs
Mechbuilds replied to MinusAndy's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I personally think if a person is okay with gutting a lego shock absorber for the spring to use it over an axle to make a custom spring then pretty much might as well go for any spring you can buy.. So yeah you can go for it and still be purist enough. Besides.. Who cares? -

You can also use oil with this setup. -

2 stud ground clearance front axle steering no drive: If you want your servo to be mounted low.
