[PA - Cup - Cat. A] Lloyd's Landing
Bodi replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There're some interesting techniques, like the roof and the wall, the snotted base looks good. -
Thank you Fraunces. You are right, these gaps are effectively cut for rowing, and they may also serve as gunports in case of need, I've noticed some of the race boats are armed.

[PA CUP - Cat B - Class 2] The Jinn dhow
Bodi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the hull, it's nicely curved, and I also like how you've managed to incorporate all those gadgets in a relatively reduced space. -
Looks very good! Good job with the rigging. As to the class, I think it qualifies to a class 3, maybe on the small side, but it's largely compensated by the quality of the build.

Our minifigs back in the age of sails aren't supposed to have any modern means of communication, a letter would take weeks to reach the addressee, so a competitor arriving late could add certain degree of realism to the game, ofc, the fact they arrived in the middle of the race also means they won't be able to win any prizes. Glad you like it, Ross Fisher.

After a thorough reading of the challenge rules, the Oleanders realized that their large ships weren't suited to navigate in shallow waters, luckily for them, not everyone in the colonies came from the Old World, some of the settlers used to travel in strange shaped boats, with rigid sails. Apparently their ships were designed for coastal navigation, which should constitute an advantage in the upcoming event. Consequently, these settlers of Loti origin were recruited by la Royale as legionnaires of the newly formed Foreign Legion. The Legion is open to any volunteer who wishes to serve to under the flag of la Royale, no matter if you were a ninja or a fisherman. One particularity of this type of junk is it's propelled by sails and oars, like a galley. Its hull also differs from the Halosian ones, especially the bow, it has a more angular shape. An expert swordman has climbed on the top of the mast to have a better view. Stats: R3, M6, F0, C2, $3, H1

[Mystery Island 5] Encounter in the Jungle
Bodi replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And the lesson from the story, shoot first, ask later. The banana-ish creatures look hilarious, nice build. -
Indeed, the jib should be smaller, thanks for pointing it out, I tend to opt for the first solution, reduce its size. And I'll take some larger photos when it's done. Thanks Thaum, I'm happy with the crew too, they are all wearing striped shirt and sailor caps, and they all got moustaches. Thanks BD, glad you like them. I prefer the first reaction.

Following the tragic lost of HRS Ardent, some stories told by survivors of the ship reached Oleon's settlements. The ship was lost due to bad weather and only a few men were rescued by other ships of the convoy. These two sailors were lucky enough to find a floating plank, but soon they realized they weren't so lucky. The braver of the two tried to repel the shark with a stick.

A bit late to participate in the race, the Oleanders still managed to send a second team and a fast boat freshly bought from the Eltina shipyard. Crewed by experienced sailors. Range: 3 Maneuvre:6 Firepower: 0 Crew - 1 Cargo: 1 Hull: 1 Total: 12

That's a nice looking little boat, I like the nicely shaped hull, thank you for building such a beauty for us.

[OL - FB] - "Typhoon" military exercise
Bodi replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice dio, BD. The pool immediately caught my attention, it's very well thought, and I like the pose of minifigs too. -
Thank you Capt.Wolf for the great writing! Any words about the actual loss of Ardent's crew? Are there any survivors?

Thank you Thaum. As you said, the right word is "cordierite", or we could simply call it the "Bluestone Inn". Thank you Fraunces. No idea how it should be called, gutter? And with the arched door, they form together a ^n^

Not far from the Eltina harbour, was the Auberge de l'iolite, a small hostel for new settlers or passengers waiting for their ships. To attract the attention of the passers-by, the tenant of the hostal used to post newspapers on the first floor. That day, one of the newspapers was replaced by a wanted poster, a local was reading the content of the poster to a seaman. It was written on the poster that a certain captain Nordau has conducted recently a raid on one of the Oleander's settlement and he's wanted for piracy.

The edges aren't sealed, for most my ships, I didn't bother to clean the loose threads on the edges of the sails, as I don't know how to have a clean cut when cutting cloth with scissors. Alternatively, I'm now using a cutting tool with circular blade, the blade turns like a disc when cutting, and the cut is quite clean.

That's a nice one, Mesabi! I like how you've built the roof with rotor blades, the angled pier looks amazing.

Fun build, the columns look great, though that lady has drawh most of my attention, she's apparently in distress.

The sails are made from fine canvas, at least that's what I was told to, I got them from a ship modeler, speaking of which, I should pay a visit to his store to buy a few more for future use. I agree with you, trashbins aren't the best parts to build bombards, but I started building this ship a year ago, so it kept some old techniques that I was used to. Now if you ask me to choice between trashbin and barrel pieces, I'll definitely choice the barrelled method. Btw, it seems that your artillery sloop was sunk in the last MRCA. Thank you, glad you like it!

A nice and clean build, the leaves twining around the house looks absolutely amazing.
