  1. Very nice model. I'd love to have them in all colours.
  2. Nice ship, I think Ice Planet were my favourite 'Good' space range. It would be nice to see them back again. As a side, why were they called Ice Planet 2002 when they were out in 1993/94, anyone know?
  3. Looks good and also quite old school space with the colour scheme..
  4. I don't think it is space proper, I mean the humans are not in space. It's similar in design for the aliens to the old UFO sets, but is more like Lego Space UFO sets attack Lego City with the police (ADU) being given some semi-whizzy vehicles and a rather blocky helicopter to fight them off with. I think if you consider the ADU to be police rather than a military then the colour scheme works better, but they are not themselves spacemen, they just look like regular humans in riot type gear.
  5. I am not really worried about them working and conducting electricx, it just seems odd to have a railwau model with these systems as a method of powering the engine, (Even if only model powering and not actual.) and then totally ignore it when it come to the track side layout. It would be like having a model car but without the wheels and saying it is complete. Anyway, thanks for the links.
  6. As I have said in previous posts I am just getting started with Lego Trains, (Well I had the blue track 30'ish years ago.) and I have just bought the City Passenger Train and will get the cargo one at some time when I can afford it. I noticed that both these trains have pantographs, but cannot find any reference to themm in the forum? I have been reading through the articles to try and gain knowledge but so far have not found anything. I know back when I was a growing up in the 70's my father and I had a N Gauge model train and some of these had this as well, most of the time though people (In the club we went to as well.) seemed to just ignore it either pretending it was not there or just admit that it was more bother to model than it was worth. So are there any Lego pantograph systems, or do they just tend to get ignored? If there are any what do people use, any links would be handy. Also as a seperate question if I may, I like building MOCs and am trying to find instructions for a small shunting diesel. I've looked on various places like Railbricks, but really do want to start with just a small shunter that will be easy to build. Any links appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Where actually is it, I could not see it mentioned on the website? I am not sure that I can get to Swindon easily as I have some mobility issues and driving that distance would be hard going. Is there ever anything in Dorset itself.
  8. I am in Dorset so not too far from Hampshire although I don't get over that way too much. Maybe a couple of times a year to Southampton. I am not sure how the PF stuff will work, my garden is not that big and it is surrounded by a wall about 7 feet high on three sides and the house on the other. Generally it only about the size of my living room and kitchen combined so quite small and enclosed. Having said that obviously it does not have a ceiling. Can I ask though, do the trains keep going once you have set them off, or do they reuire a constant signal to keep themselves powered? I mean if I set one going at a slowish speed would it just run around the circuit and come back to me or would it stop if it gets out of range? I have just ordered my first train which I am going to put aside as something exciting for Christmas, so nothing is likely to happen until next spring/summer anyway, but I'd like to build my knowledge a little before embarking on anything. Thanks.
  9. Fantastic station, how long did it take to build? Are there any more shots of the trains, maybe side on views so we can see the details of them and the platforms?
  10. Here is the link to the Brickshelf Gallery. (I hope?) http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=480578
  11. I really like the colours you have used and the way the bay windows are done. I am looking for a way to do a corner of the street shop so may look to do something similar for that. I want a diagonal entrance. I like the idea of a butchers, I find it hard sometimes to know what to make given the bits available, but that works well.
  12. I have now finished the shopping centre that I have built to go with my other buildings. It is a little bigger and is on 32X48 base. It has a ground floor with clothes, fruit, tools and kitchen ware stores as well as a disabled toilet and telephone kiosk. On the first floor there is a pet shop, a small post office and a sports gear shop. The second floor contains a store room, the janitors room and an office which has a small office for the building's manager. Outside on the rear of the second floor are two large air conditioning units.
  13. They mostly look good but I have to say that I do not like the Statue Of Liberty One. Why is it that horrid green colour? It looks horrible. Quite like the alien Grey, but have to agree with those who feel that the robot torso is alittle odd. I think he would have been better with a more natural (naked) alien torso like in the movies. Also he has a gun, do Greys have guns like that? Maybe he would be better off with some kind of probe as they are better known for abducting people and doing tests more than getting into laser shootouts?
  14. Don't forget they had at least two different types of Battlestar, as the Galactica was a really old model about to be retired. I have to say I prefered the new version over the old one, it was a lot darker and has a lot less hope about it, but that is life. Having said that:- It is a very nice little ship that I really like and I am more than certain that they would have had lots of little ships just like it in the Colonial fleets. Nice build. I would like to see some more BG ships. Have you got a little Vyper to go in the launch pad?
  15. Thats a lot of building for just 6 months. Good work on the theatre though, I liked the eagle motif and the zombie on the roof!
  16. Turntable and engine shed or engine maintenance facility with a train-wash? Seperate cars, possibly coaches with lights? A Signal box? One of those old fashioned postal vans that collect and drop off sacks without the train stopping? I seem to recall a friend of mine having an HO version from somewhere or other when I was a lad.
  17. So is there any other way to get the ADU Jetpack for those of us who do not have an actual LEGO store anywhere near where we live? I'd like to see some kind of ADU vehicle based around a more normal truck, perhaps investigating a crash site or radar dish truck. Maybe like the police one with a dog unit for hunting those aliens that have escaped into the long grass? Perhaps an ADU spacestation? I'd also like to see a big alien mothership, one that is worthy of being a mothership able to carry some of the smaller craft with room for the aliens to get out and walk about in it and for the ADU to board and have a battle on/over.
  18. Here is a link to the Brickshelf gallery. It has more pictures in it. Hopefully it will work? Let me know what you all think. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=478110
  19. Now we have the ADU Hoover bike attached using the same distinctive nose section as the other vehicles in order to tie it all in. I am trying to come with a slightly larger truck and would be interested to see what anyone else has. I am probably going to end up with a normal City type truck cab the way things are going though.
  20. Good bit of evidence there for the K-T Boundary by the looks of things!
  21. Nice building. I have to say that I don't really know much about Castle sets, but I am curious about the stone work pattern around the Apse, how did you get this effect, is it printed or a sticker or some clever building technique that is not immediately obvious from the photos? I would like to see some close up pictures of various bits. Also are there any inside shots?
  22. Have to agree, it was not my favourite Blacktrom set by a long way. The idea of offsetting was good but the way the ship turned out looked abit like it was designed by a young child to me. Don't get me wrong, Blacktron was my all time favourite space series but this ship just looked odd and out of place. I think nowadays they could do a much better job of this and it would be nice to see an updated version someday. Still it is good to see the old ships from my youth having an outing once in a while.
  23. I like the mini-sub on the back. Any chance of some different angels on that?
  24. Really nice. Do all those astronauts fit into the capsule? I like the vegitation and the little aliens coming out of their rock pods, cute.
  25. Thank you for your replies. I have to admit I am not a good model photographer. I do like photography and take loads of pictures most days but have never been able to get good at taking pictures of small models. It is something that I have struggled with for years, my other main hobby is W40K which obviously is very model intensive and I often post pictures in a forum I visit for that, however I find that my pictures are usually not that good. Not sure why, I tried all sorts of methods, but I just can't seem to get it. It was the same in the days of proper film as well so not something specific to digital. I would take loads of shots get them developed and half of them in spite of spending ages setting them up would just be blurred patches of colour. Nowadays it is not so expensive as I can just delete them, but just as annoying. Anyhow tonight I hope to have a go at the hooverbike unless my wife has some chores for me to do, which I hope not! Thanks again.
