  1. This would be Lego's opportunity to make dinosaurs and characters that they haven't made before, but locked in Jurassic League form forever.
  2. I'd go with sold well. I couldn't find any offers but on the other hand the price range is anywhere between £275 and £345.
  3. @MandalorianknightI think it's safe to say that the direction you took that in was not the direction I was headed, nor does it appear to be in good faith. Having looked it would seem most of the Sabra comments have been by you anyway, as have most of the jokes, which explains why you've defended it so. Just say that you don't understand something instead of getting a megaphone and confirming it really loud. @Lego NostalgiaI appreciate that.
  4. @Mandalorianknightwhile I appreciate the sentiment I feel you are missing where I'm coming from on a couple of things. I never said that this in joke was being used to gatekeep the theme, in fact I was leaning quite heavily on it being inadvertent and those doing it being unaware of the potential consequence. You reiterate that it doesn't hurt but then reel off a list of different things that elicits the same response, albeit manifesting differently. You know then that hurt doesn't have to be physical pain. I'm 41 and was never diagnosed, it's only through the wealth of knowledge available now and both my kids being on the spectrum that I see it in me. So I never had coping mechanisms taught to me, never knew why when I said that certain things upset me that other kids would double down rather than be understanding. It hurts because it drags up the same feelings that I've had for over thirty years, knowing that as much as most people don't understand, a lot of them don't give a damn. It wasn't that long ago when the lack of news would encourage talk of wishlist ideas or MOCs. No one resorted to wringing a joke so hard it stopped being funny. There's a reason longstanding jokes become longstanding, and it's because of how they are used sparingly and well. Dobby's sock wasn't over done and lasted ages, as has the future of a Deadpool figure as a foodstuff. This, other than doing bad things to my blood pressure, has been overdone. To me it's boring and embarrassing as well as rage inducing. I'm not being unreasonable here, I've not asked or demanded for the jokes to stop. I've laid out how and why it affects me. All I've done is highlight that doing it is isolating a(t least one) member of the community. I want to lament how we're not getting Phantasm without skipping half the comments in case I get more pissed off. I want to be able to get excited about the theme, not block off those who feel the same way because of an overbaked joke.
  5. Putting aside the fact that this is supposed to be an adult forum and these references have been dragged over from one platform to another and wrung out to the point of tedium, I'll raise you a couple of counter points. Firstly this is a space for fans of Lego, specifically DC/Batman. It's not a space for memes and inside jokes based on a video game that originated on a different platform. By making those jokes more prominent than the regular talk it's not only racking up pages of irrelevance but it's also isolating anyone who is thinking of joining the forum and feels that the language is clique and not particularly inclusive. Secondly it's gone on for so long and become gradually more prominent, so for people like me who aren't interested in the level of conversation found on Reddit, it's putting me off wanting to be part of this chat. The inanity of these in jokes means that if the conversation does go back on track, the jokes will soon derail it anyway. Or to put it another way, it got boring very quickly. Thirdly, and this one is actually personal to me and not something that I believe many people are aware of. When I said before that I struggle with people using the incorrect words for things I'm not being fussy or pedantic. Part of the processes in my brain, be it the ASD or the ADHD I'm not sure (maybe both working in harmony), means that I display a seemingly irrational response to this kind of thing, visceral, emotional and mental. I say seemingly because the response is rational to me. So if you want to say it's not hurting anyone, make sure you know that for fact. I actually hate it, regardless of the subject matter. I got annoyed the first few times, then uncomfortable, but now after weeks and weeks of it I hate the fact that my number one personal sanctuary has been taken over by something that elicits a strong negative response. So like you said, people are allowed to have other opinions.
  6. I am a lifelong fan of DC Comics and I don't have much interest in that set. The only time I was interested was when someone on Instagram modified it slightly to encompass more popular aspects of the cave. I don't like the Burton films. I think that Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker is terrible, and I don't care for the mystical aspect of Catwoman or the raw fish-eating freak of Penguin. They aren't reflective of the characters that I grew up with and still don't fit them now. The Batmobile is not my favourite but it helped shape the animated version. I hold the same amount of disdain for those films as I do for all this weird language that is clogging up the thread. I would be hugely appreciative of a similarly sized set that was based on a location from the comics, that captured the look while incorporating elements from different eras and boasting a solid minifigure lineup that not only featured previously unreleased characters but detailed ones at that. If we have seen the last of Batman and Batman Returns then I'm happy. If we can get enough decent interest in this theme that people start talking normally again, I'm very happy.
  7. Having read the explanation for all of this weird language appearing here, I can confidently say that you clearly had to be there. I struggle with people using the wrong names for things, so if any of you see me using the right ones please don't tell me that I mean X, because I really don't.
  8. I don't think that the desired effect could be achieved with printing, the only viable way would be a piece similar to the Bat utility belt.
  9. When you start totting up Lantern Corps members the list gets quite a bit bigger, likewise Legionnaires. It started off as a list of non-American heroes and villains that would make nice minifigures, and a separate list of rogues galleries, but it's me and my ADHD hyper focus so it soon became a very long list that will require a very big bank balance and a lot of room to make happen. Then the hyper focus tags out to procrastination and brain fog so now I can't start because I don't know who to start with. There isn't a right answer, by the way. I've checked. There I was thinking that the Silver Age would bear the best fruit for weird characters with weird costumes, but I was wrong. I'm all in for Colonel Future; the man who can see into the future, but only if he has a near death experience to trigger it, and even then he can't tell you when, where, or even exactly what it is you need to be wary of. And how did he gain these phenomenal powers? Why as a NASA scientist he once spilt coffee on the console he was working on, and was electrocuted. He doesn't get to be first though, not even with that stupid origin and even more stupid power set.
  10. You joke, I decided to make a list of DC characters that I would like to see as minifigures. Three notebooks with both sides of each page consisting of four columns later ...
  11. I don't want to brag but I reckon I'm more needy than you
  12. @cosmicthey had a golden opportunity to introduce a fresh character with the upcoming B:TAS wave, but that seems to have been missed. A second CMF won't come out, just look how closely the two Marvel series were released. It's not a DC theme anymore, it's back to Batman, and honestly it's been going off the rails for a while now. I don't want a massive, expensive folding Batcave or a continuous stream of Batmobile; I enjoyed the days of slowly building a League and LoD. I don't see those glory days being repeated anytime soon.
  13. There are myriad reasons why ratings exist, and they are surprisingly justified. One only has to look at pre-code horror comics to understand why Fredric Wertham published his book. Granted the outcome was extreme, but the basis for it was concern. While swearing won't harm a child and those who grow up knowing bad language can be adept at language in general, kids exposed to abusive language show increases in anxiety, depression and trouble in school. The number of studies regarding children being exposed to violence are manifold. I shouldn't have to expand on the consequences of exposing children to anything of a sexual nature outside of a curated setting. I have two kids. My son is ten and has a built-in sense of right and wrong, I respect him for it. My daughter is six and draws a line between the violence of, say Gladiators and that of the Harry Potter films. She also suffers from anxiety and gets nightmares easily. I'm not going to jeopardise the sanctity of their childhood to satisfy a whim. They're kids for a short time and adults for a lot longer, so they can wait until they are ready to watch/play certain media.
  14. Honestly there's a term used at the beginning of the trailer that although I'm sure some 13-15 year olds will know about, I still don't think it's appropriate for them. Maybe I'm a prude, maybe I'm overly policing what I think is appropriate for kids.
  15. It would appear that I forgot more than two. My only excuse is that as I'm in the middle of a redesign, my Batmen aren't on display right now. @CowabungaCatfilled in a good few blanks as well. No one remembers Zebra Batman though, also up there on the Stupid List (price, not concept).
  16. Beware the Batman Batman Begins The Dark Knight Arkhamverse games Batman Batman Returns Dawn of Justice Justice League Batman: Hush 1966 Rebirth New 52 Dark Knight Returns Zurr-en-Arrh (good luck with that) not sure if that's all or I've missed any. These aren't in any particular order, either.
  17. Do we know for certain that this is a leaked image and not something made up? It looks like they've taken the current Batmobile and stuck some custom figures in front of it. Not to mention the composition of the image. I'm not sold on it, but I'm not going to be upset if I'm wrong, the set is dead.
  18. Supersons was a great concept that they messed up. Especially when there's an alternative future that involves the two of them and Diana's daughter Elizabeth as the new Trinity. The interactions seem forced now that Jon is notably older.
  19. That particular point was in response to a sarcastic suggestion to remove Alfred, when he's been canonically dead for nearly five years. It might be a stupid idea to you, but it's happened and part of being a comics fan is rolling with the punches and not investing in head canon. I personally don't see the point of getting so worked up about a cinematic version of the character when it's never going to please everyone anyway. Particularly in a Lego forum.
  20. There it is, almost. That's not how he is portrayed currently. There's nothing to suggest that won't change. You can't expect one film to be a serious depiction and portray all of the aspects of his character. A director's vision is no different from a comic writer's, the only difference is the medium they use. You laugh like snooty fanboys at the depiction on screen but casually ignore how many versions of him have been ridiculous on the page. The Omniverse is canon, and therefore every version of the character is too. It's like you didn't get TLBM.
  21. You know Alfred has been dead for nearly five years now, in an act orchestrated by Thomas Wayne. And just wait until you find out that the car wasn't called the Batmobile until two years into the series, and was red until that same year.
  22. Westerns were very much aimed at boys and men, and romantic comedies have always had a much much stronger female target audience than male, as just two long-standing cinematic genres. Horror appeals to men more, and conversely musicals appeal more to women. I'm guessing that's what you're going for with coded? I mean it's nothing new or surprising, it's been a thing since the golden age of cinema.
  23. By what metric? If it's just yours then that's an unrealistic and unreasonable assumption. Some iterations have him coming back and not letting anyone know, just building up the Batman myth before revealing Bruce's prodigal son routine some time later. There isn't one defined Batman origins mythos.
  24. The playboy part is an act. He wasn't one to begin with, he went from mourning youth to crime fighter in training to Batman. Only in one very recent comic does he learn the ways of playboy billionaire, and that was fleeting; he had to develop it as he went along. If you want to be true to the comics then he should be smoking a pipe and hanging out with Commissioner Gordon.
