  1. From a technical standpoint yeah there actually is a significant difference in the exposures or "brightness" of the two images, in addition to levels/'curves' and contrast like you said. User images and third party digital renders (like the original Medieval Blacksmith submission) are often slightly underexposed while Lego's own images are what one might call perfect, like laboratory high-key. The actual sets won't look the same in your own place unless you have a really really bright living space. In addition Lego has their own rendering software which was used for the released blacksmith image. If you look at the two images in photoshop and use the color sampler to see the RGB values the background whites on TLG's own images are straight 255/255/255 (pure absolute digital white, there is nothing 'whiter', this is perfect high-key) and the non-shadowed white bricks within the official blacksmith image are approximately 245/243/244. Measuring the non-shadowed white bricks on the Ideas Medieval Blacksmith submission shows approximately 200/200/200; so a significant difference in brightness of the two images despite sampling from the surface of the white bricks. To bring the whites from the submission up to the same level as TLG image requires an exposure adjustment layer correction of approximately +0.70 on the submission.
  2. Its disappointing isn't it, you qualify for the promotion. And the fine print even says: But then there's members sharing links in their bios with "haul" pictures from release day displaying several of them stacked up when everyone here just wants one. Maybe your store is closed because of local restrictions or you don't have any time to go because of work or don't want to take any risks or you just want to do your part to help prevent any further loss so you order online and stay home. Do they go back into the same store donning a different disguise multiple times or hit several different stores in the same day like they just made off with someone else's credit cards?
  3. Fair enough there's a couple of other threads where a bunch of members are discussing that set with backordered items and worried that they'll miss out on just getting one despite qualifying. Back on topic, it'll be interesting watch when the new parts are finally available on B&P and comparing to the quantities on bricklink as has been done in the past.
  4. For those worried about possibly missing out on the Ideas Vintage Car promotional set due to backordered items in an order that qualified the new parts specific to that set and revealed by BrickWorld_PL's list as updated to B&P are: Bright Bluish Green (teal/"dark turquoise") 35789 MUDGUARD 2X4X2, NO. 1 11458 PLATE 1X2 W. HOR. HOLE Ø 4.8 3176 COUPLING PLATE 2X2 87544 WALL ELEMENT 1X2X3 45677 PLATE 4X4X2/3
  5. Yeah but that's true of just about every discontinued set, yet other themes resell for even more absurd amounts (green grocer has entered chat). Your other points are sound though especially Jeff Bezos' TV series.
  6. The obvious fact that Lego is an interlocking brick system that allows for any build to be altered to ones liking is highly inconvenient to AFOL's ability to complain so it is regularly ignored.
  7. For anyone just joining the thread recently and reading the all the comments above, listen to them! Listen to the people here. And do not, I repeat do not leave Eurobricks and go read those other comments. You will need a mind cleansing. In case of necessary mind cleansing consume ~3 shots of liquor and one beer. Anyway, as one of the 10k supporters I think this is fantastic. The original was great, the collaboration with Lego Ideas designers refinement is great and I can't wait to see more photos. Also when's this come out? Cause I may have needed that mind cleansing and there's two Historic Themes forums.
  8. As someone who prefers transparent (clear) for all windows I agree. Unfortunately they haven't made that exact windscreen 36 Gr. 3X4X1 1/3 design no. 2437/35243 in transparent (clear) since 2015.
  9. This is super fantastic! Without question one of the best American Frontier/Old West MOCs. The styling of the 'Hotel' sign and creativity with the bank's, the brick build details like mounted buck head and well water hand pump, SNOT'd wood pieces for the walls, very excellent work. That functioning wind pump is awesome as well. Again one of the best and also very wide ranging and complete-feeling western MOCs. Great work!
  10. And still the Ecto-1 is yet another great example of refinement by the Lego designers. The original submission was very nice and many of the original touches and designs were retained but the final official set car was even better and we ended up getting the building that was also in the same submission albeit separately but also polished up. Could do the comparison like so since the Brickset article doesn't mention that the building was produced separately later (even though we all know that):
  11. @JintaiZ that is a most amazing and useful comparison compilation! I thought about doing that but you did it way better than I would have been able. Really demonstrates that they haven't changed all much from the original submissions. In fact the collaboration process between the original designer and those at Lego clearly refines and polishes the designs. Truly a fantastic post. The last two pages of this thread has demonstrated that there might be a slight misunderstanding of what the word "idea" means or at least of the terms of the program that every designer agrees to when submitting to the program. When voting for an Ideas submission one is voicing their support for the concept of a design, the spirit, perhaps the theme as a whole rather than an exact replica of the submission, because as per the terms of agreement at the end of the day Ideas has the final say in any produced design. If one wants an exact reproduction of a fan design there are plenty sharing and selling their instructions. When a submission goes through Lego's own program however one reasonably has to expect a careful analysis of all considerations and some adjustment, all of which the person submitting has already agreed. That said every single one of these has been improved after going through careful examination and expert refinement by the designers at Lego and the collaboration with the original builder and seeing them side-by-side like this with the original submission and final product shows that the spirit and essence of each design is still absolutely preserved.
  12. As far as I can recall there's always been a limit on the CMF early in release but I don't remember it ever being that low. It's always increased after some time though.
  13. For those worried about missing out on the vintage car a bunch of the parts unique to that set/the new recolors have been added to B&P (can't order them yet though) but it's promising in case the backorders prevent one from getting the promotion to instead get the parts needed. Bright Bluish Green (teal/"dark turquoise") 35789 MUDGUARD 2X4X2, NO. 1 11458 PLATE 1X2 W. HOR. HOLE Ø 4.8 3176 COUPLING PLATE 2X2 87544 WALL ELEMENT 1X2X3 45677 PLATE 4X4X2/3
  14. Blacksmith looks great. The roof and tree are both nicer looking designs with no disrespect to the designer, they still get appreciation for the overall look and feel and getting us a Castle set through Ideas. Also don't mind the omission of the Circle 90D 6x6 Roof Tiles; castle MOCers tend to SNOT their own ground and those pieces are rather large and of limited versatility. Can't wait to see more pictures.
  15. Yes this is the more accurate reply. The keywords in the fine print are 'while supplies last' and other items that also qualify for the same promotion that are in stock and shipped before someone else's backorder can result in them missing out.
  16. The packages aren't really lost, they're just overloaded. People complaining about their things being in the same location for so long because their distribution chain is packed full.
  17. Everyone who was having trouble before should give it another shot. Their IT people did some awesomeness. Or whoever it is that makes this internet stuff work, great job!
  18. Hey on the upside the four of us managed to make this thread go "HOT"!

  20. Its available for everyone right now right? I was able to add to cart. Someone else said its available for North America at 12ET, is that not for everyone?
  21. You lucky! Don't give up, those east coasters will pass out soon! Unless you're on the east coast in which case its time to go to bed.
  22. Thanks fellow builder, cheers. As an update its stuck in a loop of items in cart, error looks like somethings wrong no items in cart, items in cart, error looks like something went wrong no items in cart.
  23. Same. Happy new year at least. Hmmmm, possibly tequila time.
  24. LOL! Dang it. Thank you! I tried but apparently not enough. In that case I pick: train, editing post now. Thanks again.
