LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RogueTwo replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It is off topic, but thank you for letting me know. Since I checked this thread first thing in the morning, that's how I found out. I had no idea about all his charitable work. Rest in peace, Peter. As far as the May the Fourth sale, I can't believe the Sandcrawler is still $140 in the US. It's almost like a joke to me at this point. Well, maybe Brick Friday... Other than that, on the United States site, there is pretty much a flat 25% discount (give or take) on everything except UCS and 20th Anniversary sets. Not too bad, honestly! -
Wow, does the UK usually get the option of pre-ordering sets on Amazon? That's the biggest marketing flaw I see with TLG at the moment: no pre-orders on their official website. Either way, thanks for the images! I will probably pass on this set, so my list is now down to Expecto Patronum, Hagrid's Hut, and the Clocktower as "must-buys."

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Haha, thanks, I appreciate it, for whatever it's worth! I did ask for inside knowledge, but it just makes me laugh to think of someone eavesdropping (accidentally or not) on LEGO Store employees. Sounds like the sort of thing I would do. This actually seems quite accurate, though I imagine other sets would get some discount, as well. I would be tempted by Darth Vader's Castle to round out my Rogue One collection, even though I'm a staunch supporter of the Alliance. Yeah, I know! From what I gathered last time I asked about the Sandcrawler, supposedly there is some condition that big retailers are not allowed to discount the "big" sets (say, $100 or more) for a year or so. Everything else usually enjoys a perpetual 20-30% discount, so I can't complain, especially given that our prices are generally lower to begin with. But I want a Sandcrawler. I hope you can get the X-Wing, it's a great set! -

I'm just hoping for a sale on the Sandcrawler, which hasn't dropped in price at all in the USA, except for, apparently, a sale on Macy's website going on at the moment. -
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RogueTwo replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Anyone have any advance knowledge as to what items will be on sale this weekend (besides BB-8)? -
Flitwick will probably be the movies 1-2 variant (especially since they can't reuse Collectible Minifigures), but if the picture on I-Gram is correct, most of the minibuilds combine to construct a festive Great Hall, and Dumbledore is a rerelease from the Great Hall set from last year. That's fine with me, because it's a good figure, and it will be difficult for most kids to obtain, especially since the set may be scarce by this Christmas. I would expect McGonagall to follow suit and be a rerelease. I suppose a dress piece is possible, given that she was going to have one in the preliminary Toy Fair images last year. I'm glad the Advent Calendar is backpedaling a little bit to catch up on some of the Years 1-2 stuff. I suspect we'll eventually get whole waves that fill in missing scenes, but one shouldn't be too over-certain. As great as this theme is, by the time 2021 or so rolls around, LEGO may decide it's time to move on. Just please give us a CMF #2 with the missing characters like the Dursleys, Lockhart, Tom Riddle, young Dumbledore, and Ginny. By the way, do I understand this correctly? The Advent Calendar is going to be released in JUNE? If so, ahem, the doors might just Alohomora themselves early... This makes the secrecy of the rumored Graveyard and $15 set all the more puzzling. I would have thought they'd release around September with the Calendar, but it seems not. I wonder if they are based on Crimes of Grindelwald after all. That would be a huge disappointment for me, given that I refused to even see the movie, but stranger things have happened (this pun is absolutely intended ). More likely, I suppose, they're just trying to spread out the goodness and not inundate people all at once. Those prices, though--yikes! I know the United States typically get the best prices, and that's no exception here, but I don't like assuming that they'll be one thing and finding out that they're another. I guess that's why the say: You know what happens when you assume... I was expecting the Patronum set ( the puns just keep coming) to cost $20 due to the new molds and high minifigure count, and the Clock Tower is a very good deal (by LEGO standards) for $90, but for $60, Hagrid's Hut really should have had Fang, crows, and Dumbledore. I don't care about a light brick--even though it's very cleverly concealed this time--and I don't mind that it's open in the back, and it's still my favorite set of the wave, but it just feels overpriced somehow. This is clever manipulation, because I will still buy it on day one, but it will hurt a little bit, and I might have to forego the Knight Bus.

Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors, Wishlists and Discussion
RogueTwo replied to RandomSniper109's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm pretty excited about 2020 already, but I suggest that rumors vs wishlists are divided as quickly as possible, because at the moment we only have the latter, but no doubt rumors will be coming soon. That being said, here's my wishlist for a five/six-set wave like the first two years. It's a bit uneven, but the best I could come up with on the spot. I'm still hoping for a D2C Diagon Alley and an (unspecified) CMF 2: Inferi in the Cave--$15, Harry, Dumbledore, small island build, and two Inferi Hogwarts Greenhouses--$30, Harry, Slughorn, Professor Sprout, Hagrid, Fang!, two small greenhouses with Mandrakes and Venemous Tentacula Ministry of Magic Atrium Battle--$40, Harry (with possessed face), Dumbledore, Voldemort, Luna, Neville, small build with Fountain of Magical Brethren, a fireplace, and an office facade with a paper/plastic-y poster of Fudge that can be released to fall to the ground 4 Privet Drive--$50, Harry, Dudley, Vernon, Petunia, Mrs. Figg, Dementor, scaled down house| The Burrow--$60, Harry, Ginny, Molly, Arthur, Fred, George (basically a rerelease of the 2010 model, but without the Death Eater invasion) Hogwarts Astronomy Tower--$100, Harry, Dumbledore, new Snape without the purple, Bellatrix, Death Eater, older Draco, Greyback, Madam Pomfrey, Ron, Hermione (Build would be predominantly a tall turret, but with interior to represent Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Room of Requirement, and Slughorn's Office) -
I think the old Horntail body/head/tail is all one piece, so no. I will double-check that, though. EDIT: The bottom of the mouth is part of the large body mold, the top of the head hooks on with the same kind of indentations as minifigure helmet visors. Maybe you already knew this, but I have no idea how one would connect the old head if those are its only connection points. I won't say it's 100% impossible, but I certainly couldn't figure it out. Also, do you mean "jaw" instead of "yaw"? If so, again, it would be hard if not impossible. Here's a link to the inventory of the old Horntail from Bricklink.

Sadly, this is basically what happens in the book, so I think the set is accurate...
-
Damn, how did I miss that? Now I'm a tiny bit disappointed. Yeah, I'm no good at Technic, so I'll be modding a custom "stationary pendulum" until someone posts a mechanism. Still, I love the set. I love all the sets! Must wait until June and not spend money on May 4....
-
No worries! Welcome, by the way! And I like your username. Looking at the Hagrid's Hut box art/main picture, it looks like Buckbeak is missing his left wing! It's too long a piece to be hiding at his side, which is perhaps why they excluded it; it would have obstructed the photo, I guess?
-
I think this picture was seen before, albeit only briefly. I couldn't tell that it was Harry's Diagon Alley clothes from movie one, though. That would be great! Of course, the Christmas jumper with the "H" would be better, but who knows, maybe it's still happening. If all the minifigures in the calendar exclusive, I will be ecstatic!

LOL at Ron dancing with Fleur on one of the detail pictures for the Clocktower. You wish, Ron...
-
My take: The Knight Bus itself looks great, but I've never loved that scene. I'll buy it as soon as I can properly afford it. Expecto Patronum looks pretty much the same as it did last time, glad it's the final design. Pretty much perfect. I'll buy it right away. Hagrid's Hut is a day one, hour one buy if I can find it available anywhere. Beautiful. The Horntail set is just not great, and I don't love Goblet of Fire (the movie, at least), so I will wait for a sale. I've been wanting a new Clocktower for a very long time, and I'm very glad I didn't buy the old one. While I certainly would have preferred an Azkban setting, the building itself looks great, and this way they don't have to waste half a CMF series on Yule Ball variants. That said, I'm pretty sure we'll see Yule Ball Cho and Patil twins if we every get a series two. I suspect this set will be the best-seller this Christmas. I may try to hold off on buying this one, if only to pretend to be financially responsible. I could hardly be happier with this wave. Yes, I would have preferred a small Shrieking Shack to the Horntail, but if we get a Wormtail figure in the rumored Graveyard set, the Shack itself would be pretty easy to MOC. I understand why a werewolf Lupin wasn't made; that mold would be very difficult and expensive. My God, though, I hope the rumored $15 set this August is a Fang and Padfoot battle pack! The dog lover (and Potter lover) in me is quite sad about the omission of these two essential characters. Now I hope the official pictures will have to be released soon. Personally, I'm thrilled that I didn't buy the UCS Hogwarts, because not only could I not really afford it, it seems like the "System-scale" theme will be going strong for a while. Only one odd thing: no standard Hogwarts house uniforms. Now that the CMF series is discontinued, it will be hard for kids to get regular uniformed characters for a while. Not that I think anyone will really mind, just an observation.
-
I totally agree, but I also think that the HP Advent Calendar will be crazy popular among kids, so I don't know that it's any indication of catering to AFOLs or the longevity of the theme. I honestly think LEGO HP will be around until the sales drop. Do I think it will last as long as Star Wars? No. But I could see it lasting from 5-10 years, depending on how badly the rest of the Fantastic Beasts films flop. Then wait until everyone's desperate for Potter again, and reboot the theme. It's a win(gardium leviosa) for LEGO. Also, LOL at your "deep breath before the plunge" comment. I, too, was extremely sad that LEGO LOTR is gone, though I am slowly getting over it with all these great new sets from other themes.

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RogueTwo replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, Tidy just posted a new confidential unknown Brickheadz in the 2019 News Thread. I thought we'd seen the end of those, but I guess "No one's ever really gone." -
That would be clever, but I doubt anyone at TLG is thinking that hard about it. Even if they are, most fans aren't on our level, and wouldn't see the point.
-
I'm almost positive they are trying to wait until after May the Fourth for an official reveal, so that they get maximum Star Wars spending without people thinking about what they might want to save for a month later. And let's face it, the HP sets are generally of a higher caliber and better value than recent Star Wars fare. I have to say, their tactic is going to work on me. Just look at my profile picture; I'm conflicted about my favorite franchise, and I'm very bad at delayed gratification!

Personally, as long as the Horntail is a creative and resourceful build, I don't mind if it's undersized and not 100% movie accurate. The Occamy and Thunderbird from Newt's Case were a joy to build, and I hated that movie. We have to remember that the Horntail set is rumored to be about $35, not bad at all, considering we get all four Champions. I didn't own the last Horntail set, but it's pretty clear that the build was trash (with the possible exception of the stands with the printed school crest tiles), and that most of the budget went toward the dragon, which was also undersized and not 100% movie accurate. Now take The Lonely Mountain from The Hobbit, which I do have: Smaug is enormous and incredibly well-designed, but even he feels slightly "<insert that tiresome argument>," [odd, "J_NIORIZED" was censored] especially his legs, which are hollow on the inside. I suspect that TLG will never produce another dragon as fine as Smaug, but even so, that Hobbit set came with only five other minifigures and 800-odd pieces for $130, suggesting that the dragon demanded a premium of $50 or so. What I am not okay with is Viktor's head print, and, to a lesser extent, those of Fleur and Cedric. I understand that there is a limited budget to go around, but this Wizarding World theme really seems to want to pull out all the stops, but is somehow unable to do so. If they really wanted to prove that "only the best is good enough," which is a bit of a lost cause in the world of cutthroat capitalism, they should have just released the Azkaban sets this season and waited before releasing the ones from Goblet. That pumpkin looks great, though, as does Stan's hat. Hagrid's Hut will be a day one buy, regardless of how much money I blow through on May the Fourth...

Davish Krail helmet is out of stock again, but it lasted for a good few days. I hope this is a sign that supply is finally catching up to demand, at least for pilots not call-signed "Red Leader." I'm sure it's not easy to manufacture so many custom pieces within such a small company, but... ...I received my first ever Firestar package in the States yesterday; it arrived in just over a week, I couldn't believe it! Everything was phenomenally packaged, shipping was cheap, and the prints look great! By the way, is this basically the designated "Firestar Toys" thread, or are there other places that their custom Star Wars prints are discussed?

Still being 'evacuated' from the hallway with Darth Vader. I like this set a lot, but I don't love it, and that fact alone disappoints me. -
How many Garven Dreis helmets were available, do you have any idea? I haven't seen them for sale anywhere; they must have been scooped up to sell at a physical location, I guess... As far as the reference material, I assume you and/or the artist have seen the Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide by DK books? Here's a crappy picture I took of the relevant page, just in case: Edit: I need help resizing this picture. The photo I took was high definition, and this is barely viewable. I will try to fix it. I think that, with stills from the movie, it would provide enough information for some of the helmets (I'm particularly fond of Vangos Grek, whom we first saw crashing into the shield gate in the final trailer for Rogue One). That said, I'm no graphic designer, so I'll gladly and thankfully take what I can get.

I saw these on your Instagram after I started searching for custom Rebel helmets. Rogue One for the win! These are incredible! Are Bodhi Rook's arms a custom request, or will they soon be available in dark bluish grey? The Blue Squadron pilot is phenomenal, too! I was using the Gold Leader helmet from 2007 for this pilot (can't remember her name ), but this is clearly a perfect custom! Is this the "new amazing design" that TWP mentioned? It certainly qualifies! Or are there even more helmets on the way? Living in the United States, I thought it would be a bit of a hassle to order from Firestar Toys, but last night I made the plunge, because the Davish Krail helmet was (and still is, at time of writing) back in stock. I also ordered several custom arms and pilot heads. Really hoping Red Leader is back in stock soon, though. I almost bought the Zal Dinnes helmet a couple days ago, but by the time I saw the notification, it was sold out again!

RogueTwo replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I suspect TLG will wait a few extra weeks if possible this year, because they won't want to take sales away from the April 1 sets. Last year, there was a wave released on April 15, and in 2016, the only Spring wave was June 1, IIRC, so they had nothing to lose by revealing the UCS Snowspeeder a bit earlier. However, in the case of both the Snowspeeder and the Y-Wing, leaked pictures surfaced online beforehand. My guess is that the set will be revealed sometime in the week of April 7-13, to coincide with the Star Wars Celebration. If pictures are leaked sooner than that, the official reveal might be expedited. Whatever the case may be, I am hyped! -
Hopefully they reuse the one from Tonto's headgear in Lone Ranger, and I can put one in Boggart Snape's hat where it belongs. Either that, or I'll have to go to Bricklink. As far as a Hagrid variant, I really don't think it's out of the question. However, Fang is the most needed thing in the entire set, IMO (besides Buckbeak, of course). We'll see if we get lucky. Fudge and McNair look great! <70 days until June 1!
